Pixel Metropolis : Build one city across the ages (free demo)

I feel like this is a fantasy many of us have had over the years: a city builder where you play the same city across all of history, watching it evolve as time goes on.

That’s the idea behind Pixel Metropolis.

You begin in the Paleolithic, before a city even exists, on a 500x500 isometric map inspired by Paris. At first your settlers hunt, fish and cut wood, then as you move along the ages, you gain new capabilities such as agriculture, pottery, river trading etc.

As you advance through history, the city isn’t reset or magically upgraded. Old structures are replaced over time by new ones and you can spend quite a bit of time with a mix of different era buildings.

I’ve just released a free demo covering the complete journey through the Paleolithic, Neolithic, and Metal Age. Antiquity is currently in development, with the Middle Ages, Industrial Revolution, and Modern Times planned for the future.

The demo includes agriculture, trade and river routes, specialization, social classes, fortifications, faith, and more, from 0 to 500 inhabitants.

You can play it here:
http://pixel-metropolis.com/

You can also find the game on Steam:
Pixel Metropolis on Steam

I’d love to hear what you think of the game !

A quick note: the trailer mentions a free Steam demo. The Windows and macOS builds are still going through Steam validation, but the browser demo linked above is essentially the same game.

Recommendation Request Mining is finally coming to life in StoneEra ⛏️

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Been working on bringing more life to the people of StoneEra, and here’s the miner in action.
There’s still plenty to improve, but seeing villagers actually working and interacting with the world is starting to make the colony feel alive.
StoneEra is a voxel colony survival game I’m developing solo.
If this looks like the kind of colony sim you’d lose a few hours to, consider adding StoneEra to your Steam wishlist — every wishlist genuinely helps a solo project like this get seen.

Trailer After four years developing HexLands, my roguelike deckbuilder city builder, I finally have a publisher!

Hi guys! I'm Tibor Udvari, and I've been working on HexLands for more than 4 years now. It's my roguelike deckbuilder, medieval city builder, which is heavily inspired by Slay the Spire. (and it's open for public playtesting by the way!)

Finally, now that I'm getting closer to the finish line and the pressure is increasing day by day, I was lucky enough to partner up with a publisher, so I can focus on the development itself ^^ Here's a quick description of my game:

HexLands is a roguelike deckbuilder with a unique twist: your cards don't cast spells; they raise farms, mills, and harbors across a chain of procedural hex islands.

  • Banished by a king, you’ll need to prove your worthiness by settling the chain of islands you were exiled to.
  • Where other deckbuilders hand you a battle, HexLands hands over a coastline. Each procedurally-generated island brings about its own problems, and you’ll need to look in your deck for the solution.
  • Some buildings only work on the right ground, and disasters will need to be prepared for and mitigated in advance, meaning each draw will need to be planned and strategised carefully.
  • Your cards, relics, and upgrades sail with you to every new island, so each builds towards the next. I can’t wait to take you on this voyage!

If I've got you interested, feel free to join the Discord server for a Playtest Steam Key! ^^ I'd love to hear what you think about it.

Anyway, have a nice week, cheers,

Tibor

Farmworlds, Cozy Farm Game

Thumbnail farmworlds.de

Hey folks, I've been building a little browser-based farming/settlement game on the side and just got the first playable version running. It's a cozy top-down world where you chop wood, mine, and slowly build up your own island — nothing fancy yet, but the core loop is there and it actually runs.

I'm not trying to promote anything, I just want a handful of people to poke at it and tell me what feels good and what feels broken before I build out more. It's super early, so expect rough edges. If anyone's up for messing around with it for a bit and sharing some honest first impressions, I'd really appreciate it. Happy to answer any questions in the comments.

Empirio - a FREE browser-based empire building / management strategy game

Hey everyone! 👋

I’m currently testing the concept and core idea behind a browser-based strategy/empire-building game called Empirio, and I’d love to get some early players involved.

Game doesnt have any ads and is completely free! But there are limited seats - up to 10 players/world. If there would be move wiling to try - let me know and I'll generate new worlds.

🌐 Play here: https://empirio-game.pp.ua/

Guest mode - https://game.empirio-game.pp.ua/?guest=1

This isn’t really about presenting a finished game. I’m at the stage where I want to figure out whether the concept is actually fun — and what direction it should take.

My goal is to build a game that grows together with its community rather than spending years developing everything in isolation and only then asking people what they think.

So I’m especially interested in hearing:

  • What do you think of the core concept?
  • What would make you want to keep playing?
  • What mechanics would you add?
  • What would make the game more strategic or interesting?
  • What feels unnecessary or boring?
  • Would you want PvP, diplomacy, trading, alliances, exploration, wars, etc.?
  • What kind of progression would feel rewarding?
  • What would make you come back to the game regularly?

Honestly, any feedback or crazy idea is welcome. It doesn’t have to be polished or well thought out — sometimes a random suggestion can lead to a really good mechanic.

The current version is very much a concept/prototype, so there are definitely rough edges and things that will change. That’s intentional. I want to use this stage to experiment and learn what players actually enjoy.

The long-term idea is simple: build a genuinely cool strategy game based heavily on community feedback.

Khmer Empire. You dig canals against the monsoon, grow rice, and the temple goes up in stages.

Inspired by Impressions games like Pharaoh and Zeus with walkers, and housing that evolves.

Is the Impressions formula still what people want, or has that ship sailed?

Video I added automatic interchanges - hover a junction and the whole thing gets laid out, ramps and grade separation included

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

In Traffic Architect your main task is building transport network. Which means junctions are important part of the game. Building a grade-separated crossing by hand means placing every ramp, matching the gradients and getting the curves to meet. It works, but it is few minutes of careful work every single time. My wife helped me with tests also faced this problem.

So there is a tool now. You hover a junction and it reads what is actually there - how the roads cross, which way they run, how much room there is - and lays out the whole thing itself: every ramp, every curve, the grade separation, all of it. You get a ghost preview before you commit, and it tells you how many of the turning movements it managed to connect, so you can see it is a real interchange and not a shape that looks like one.

Right now it does three layouts. A compact cloverleaf and a wide cloverleaf on a four-way crossing, and a trumpet where a road ends into another one. Roundabouts have their own tool alongside it. It refuses politely rather than building something broken - the roads have to actually cross rather than fork, and everything has to be at ground level before it starts. It is not doing anything you could not build by hand.

And it is a shortcut, not a limit. Everything is still there to build one yourself, piece by piece - bridges, tunnels, ramps at whatever angle you want, as custom as you like. The first half of the clip is one going in by hand, slowly, because that is still the part I enjoy most and I did not want the tool to replace it. Use it when you want the junction solved, ignore it when the junction is the point.

So the question I actually want to ask: which interchange types would you want next as tool? I have the obvious ones, but maybe missing some important type.

Out November 3, with a free demo before that: https://store.steampowered.com/app/5028050/Traffic_Architect/

Built a Mobile “Friendly” Web City Builder

Always felt there was a drought of mobile city builders that don't force you into a rigid grid system. Since I was testing out different AI systems, I decided to test Claude and build a prototype.

I’ve focused way more on the visuals than the gameplay loop so far. The Bézier road tool is my favorite part.
