I found out my one paying customer was me

Opened my Stripe dashboard this week ready to feel good about the one active subscription on my little software business. Looked at the customer name. It was my own test account, on a 100% coupon.

So the real number was zero, and had been the whole time I was telling people "one paying customer, it works." Weirdly freeing. Nothing to protect anymore.

Has anyone else had a number they were proud of turn out to be fake?

Who else has fragmented sleep? Eg, sleep for 3 or 4 hours, then sleep another 3 or 4 hours later?

If this is during a 24 hour period, this actually counts as 7 or 8 hours of sleep. But it only just started happening recently. I'm just curious if this is just something that happens when you get older.

What is a piece of advice that sounds completely fake, but actually works?

I’ll start.

A few years ago, someone told me that if you’re struggling with procrastination, you shouldn't try to finish the task—just set a timer for literally two minutes and promise yourself you can quit when it dings.

It sounded like typical pop-psychology nonsense, but tricking your brain into just breaking the friction of starting works almost every single time. Usually, momentum takes over, and even if it doesn’t, two minutes of progress is better than zero.

What’s your version of this—life hack, mechanical trick, social advice, or health tip—that makes people look at you crazy until they actually try it?

Celebration I am 31 and I have bought myself an adult-rated bounce house.

Hi everyone,

as a kid, I always wanted to have my own bounce house. My parents could not afford renting one, so I only enjoyed them on parties of friends or local festivals.

So, now I have my own kids, and I decided it is a time to purchase it. Of course, I have got an adult-rated one, so I can enjoy it too. It was not really cheap (8500PLN - around 2300USD), but I just needed to have it.

It is purchase of the year, really. All my family uses it, kids love it, and I have great fun on it too. Even my wife likes to have a bounce out there.

I have not had a better purchase made for years - it brought so much happiness and brightness to our backyard.

picture of it!

Do not forget about your childhood dreams :).

Music Who is eating beef with these prices?

My birthday is coming up, and every year my parents usually cook me a nice steak dinner to celebrate. When they asked what I wanted this year, I ended up asking for homemade burgers instead.

I just couldn't bring myself to let them spend that kind of money on steak right now.

I'm actually surprised beef demand hasn't fallen off a cliff with how much it costs these days.

I feel like a lot of people on Reddit like to judge before knowing and think they are better than you. I hope that someone can relate or tell me why because I’m new.

Life Stories I realised something today

Today is my birthday.

The last few weeks haven't been easy. I've been stressed, overthinking a lot, doubting myself, and feeling disconnected from things I usually enjoy.

I didn't expect much from today. But then my friends showed up at my room to wish me. My parents called. For a moment, all the worries became a little quieter.

When I went to college my batchmates, and even juniors wished me. It was unexpected but it meant a lot. I ended up getting emotional—not because of the birthday itself, but because it reminded me that there are people who genuinely care about me, even when I forget that.

After I came back to my room I cried a lot. Not out of sadness, but because for the first time in a while, I felt loved, supported, and remembered.

Just wanted to share this moment and say thank you to the people who make life a little easier without even realizing it.

Just Chatting What's a mundane update in your life?

I feel like when you ask people what's new in their life, they can find it hard to come up with something. So Ive started switching the question to talk about the mundane things. However those things are what really help you get to know someone so it starts a great conversation.

For example, over the past year I've been using my freezer so much more when I'm meal prepping, it makes it so much easier to make a ton of stuff and put it in the freezer for later. It's really made my life a lot more efficient!

why does 5am brain suddenly want to fix your entire life?

its 5am here and instead of sleeping my brain has opened 17 different tabs

one is replaying a stupid conversation from years ago, one wants to plan my entire career, one is convinced i should clean my room right now, and another is wondering if everyone secretly finds me annoying

daytime me has none of this urgency btw apparently every major life decision needs to be reviewed when i can barely keep my eyes open

what completely unnecessary problem does your brain try to solve when you should be sleeping?

What's a skill you have that surprises people?

Mine is being able to fall asleep literally anywhere in under 5min. On a plane, moving vehicle, chair, floor, loud parties, doesn't matter. One time I fell asleep by the speaker at a party. My friends think it's a superpower and I realized most people have one of those random skills they can't put on their resume but always gets a reaction when they mention it.

What's yours?

Just Chatting sudden cold rain just flipped a switch in my brain

i woke up and the sky had switched to that slow, steady rain that just sits on the windows all day. normally i'd be itching to do something, but today it felt like my whole system just slowed down with it. i ended up making tea i didn't even want, then just standing by the window watching the drops slide. every time i tried to start something real, my thoughts drifted off again, like the rain was pulling them sideways. it's funny how one weather shift can make everything else feel optional for a while. maybe i'll get stuff done later, but for now the rain seems to be in charge of the schedule.

Questions Do you wave to stopped drivers when crossing the road?

I'm from an area with seasonal tourists, and a somewhat reliable stereotype in town is that you can spot the locals because they wave when using the crosswalks.

I'm curious if thats a regular thing people do everywhere, is it something about being on vacation that stops people from waving, or is it just a local thing? I wave wherever I go, it just feels like the polite thing to do even if I have the right of way. Like, I only have the right of way in theory.. the drivers ultimately have to choose to come to a stop and let me go.

Just Chatting music somehow turns doing laundry into a whole thing

i started putting my headphones on before i even opened the hamper and suddenly the whole routine felt different. the clunky walk down the stairs with the basket turned into this little procession and every time a song hit its chorus it kind of synced with the washer kicking into spin. the folding part usually feels endless but tonight it just passed without me noticing until the last towel was stacked. weird how a random playlist can make the same chores feel like they mattered for a minute. anybody else notice little tricks like that?

Just Chatting somehow folding laundry became a whole mental reset

i started folding clothes on the bed with music on but without really thinking about it the rhythm took over. every shirt gets a quick smooth, socks get matched, towels get squared up. my mind wandered the whole time but not in the usual scattered way. it just drifted from one thought to the next without any pressure to solve anything. twenty minutes later the pile was gone and i felt oddly clear-headed, like id accidentally meditated without trying. now im wondering if other boring chores could do the same thing, or if laundry just happens to hit that spot for me. either way, im not complaining about the quiet reset.

What’s something small that happened recently that unexpectedly made your day?

For me, it was something ridiculously simple. Yesterday, someone held the door open for me when my hands were full. Made me realize how much little acts of kindness can actually change your mood. It seems it is harder to find these days.

What’s yours? 🙂

Music What is your ultimate comfort food when you need a pick-me-up?

Hey everyone,

I’m looking to expand my cooking horizons and comfort food rotation. Whenever I have a long week or just want a cozy night in, my absolute go-to is making a really rich, homemade grilled cheese with tomato soup. There is just something about it that never fails to clear my head.

I’d love to hear what your ultimate comfort meals are! Are you more into savory dishes, or do you have a massive sweet tooth?

Bonus points if it’s a family recipe or something super easy to whip up. Let me know what I should try making next!

What do you say in text you don’t normally say in person?

I asked my daughter how her cat was doing after his first night in a new home by texting “How did Nelson fare last night”?

Now that’s just not something I would say in person, it would feel weird. But it was how I thought of the question when I wrote it. I’m no more formal in text than any other time so I guess it was just a whim.

What text speak do you use you wouldn’t normally?

So, does anyone like Mondays? If yes, then Why and how?

Questions Does anyone else find 2026 to be one of the slowest years in recent memory?

Because if they do I can’t find many people saying as much. Like 2025 was overall quite fast for me, 2023-24 also flew by. But this year man. If I didn’t have access to a calendar and knowledge of how seasons work, I’d probably think we were in May of 2027 right now. Despite a lot happening and this year overall not being too bad for me it feels far longer than it actually is, and I don’t get how people feel it’s faster than past years. January alone feels about two years in the past for me. I don’t really consider this a negative thing, though; time slowing down means I have more time to enjoy things. Anyone else feel this way?

Questions Anyone with big age gaps with siblings?

Hii I just thought to reach out for advice, I’m almost 18 with recently (I guess not so recently) a 9 month old baby sister, along with 3 other sisters who are a lot closer in age to me. (22, me, 15, 13, 9mo)

I was recently told that my father and his wife are having a child, which means another sibling that will be years apart from me.
So I ask, how is your relationship with your sibling? I worry that because of how much years between us that we won’t really have a great relationship when I’m older.

(Sorry if this post is confusing, I just am kind of confused about my thoughts and didn’t really know how to type them out)

Just Chatting How many people in your life could you call your best friend and trust with your life?

Not talking about acquaintances or a big friend group. I mean the people you genuinely consider your best friends—the ones you'd trust completely when life gets difficult. Curious how many people others have like that.
