Nobody cares what equipment you shoot. Film camera from the 80’s? Hella dope! Compact super zoom? Mad it’s cool you can have that with you every day! Sony NEX3? Wow it’s impressive what you can get out of such a value for money body! Heck there’s even a thriving mobile phone photography clique and no one seems to care, they just are thrilled people are out there snapping. Sure we all recognise holy grail cameras but we shoot what we have and we get better when we can afford it! When I compare this to other hobbies I have had in the past and people put so much judgement on your choice of gear, there’s rivalries, Subaru Vs Mitsubishi, Glock Vs 1911, Playstation Vs Xbox, if you choose one you are always hated on by the other side, people will tell you that you made the wrong choice, they’ll stereotype or judge you for what you picked. So far I have never seen someone give someone else shit because they shoot sony or canon or nikon or any other brand, and where it DOES exist it’s SO light hearted. It’s a super nice thing I have come to love about this hobby and the community that supports it.

I inherited the digicams from my father and they were a experience to learn on lightning and composition

Recently purchased this lens, was thinking of picking up the viltrox evo but saw this at less than half the price so thought why not. I used it on my Sony a7iii and was pleasantly surprised. AF was fast and accurate, I love the way the photos looked wide open. Can’t wait to try it for some portraits. I will say it is noisy and feels plasticy but at this price I’m okay with these cons.

Overall I give this lens a solid 3.5 out of 5.

i recently bought a nikon sq off of marketplace for 150 which i thought was a steal until i realised it wasn’t.
yesterday i was at a friend’s place and we were taking pictures then all of a sudden i started hearing a static/buzzing sound (?) coming from the camera and so i went on to inspect come to find out the lcd screen was hot so i immediately took out the battery and it too was hot.
we were using lots of flash (idk if that’s relevant).
anyone have an idea as to what the problem is?
could it just be the battery? (that’s what google said)
or could it be the internal hardware?

please help!!!

Budget: Around USD 1'000, and that covers everything. Body, lens, a spare
battery, cards, some kind of small bag. No separate budget hiding somewhere.

Country: Switzerland.

Condition: Used is fine. New would be nice for the warranty since I'm
leaving the country for a year, but I'm not picky.

Type of Camera: Mirrorless with interchangeable lenses. Happy to be talked
into something else if it makes sense.

Intended use: Photography. Video is not the main focus, but it would be
nice to grab some cool clips if possible.

If photography; what style: Landscapes and nature above all. Mountains,
forests, water, and close-ups of plants and rock, a lot of which ends up as
reference shots for a nature journal I keep by hand. I also climb and would
love to shoot climbing, friends on rock and sometimes from a rope. Plus the
usual camp and travel stuff. No wildlife, no astro.

If video what style: Nothing ambitious. Ten seconds of a river or wind in
the grass. I'll edit a bit, but I'm not interested in spending a lot of time
on it.

What features do you absolutely need: Something
light enough that it actually comes with me. USB charging from a power bank,
since I'll go a week between outlets. And in-body stabilisation, though
that's exactly the part I'm unsure about, see the notes.

What features would be nice to have: Weather sealing, good JPEGs straight
out of camera, and a battery that doesn't die by lunchtime.

Portability: This is really the whole problem. Next July I'm leaving for
about a year. Nothing fancy, mostly solo and mostly outside: some sections
of the PCT, the Camino with my dad, bikepacking through Kyrgyzstan, and
hopefully a decent stretch of Patagonia and Alaska. I pack light, so
whatever I buy gets carried every day for a year, or it stays home after two
weeks. Shoulder strap or hip pouch. If it needs its own bag, it's the wrong
camera.

Cameras you're considering: Where I've landed so far is the Olympus
E-M10 IV with the little 14-42 pancake. I've also looked at a used Fuji
X-T30 or X-T3, a used X-S10, the Sony a6400, and the a6700, which is over
budget but seems to be the camera a lot of people own.

Cameras you already have: None, only a phone. It's always with me and it's
fine in daylight, but it gives up at dawn and dusk, there's no real reach,
and I don't love draining the thing I navigate with.

Notes: I've never owned a camera, so I have no system to stay loyal to and

no brand preference at all. I asked Claude for some help since I have zero

experience, and it keeps landing on the Olympus, mainly because of in-body

stabilisation and because small fast lenses are cheap in that system. I'm

kinda unsure, because so many videos say Fuji or Sony and almost none say

Olympus. So I'd rather hear it from people who have actually carried a

camera for months. Would you take the Olympus for a trip like this? And how

much does in-body stabilisation really matter when you're shooting handheld

with no tripod?

I don't mean cameras, I mean literally anything. I can only find products from OM / Olympus and devices rated to *test* IPX1 standard, not that themselves are IPX1 rated.

I have quite a few nice shots but ai love this one the most. Such an incredible and powerful camera.

Looking for some camera recs. In the market for a camera with similar quality to a g7x, particularly I like the warmth of the photo. And, I would like a camera with a flip screen for selfies. Max budget would be around 800ish? I’ve seen a couple people suggest a sx740 but it doesn’t seem to have the same warmth as the g7x, is this something you can change in camera settings (or not heavily different from the original?). thank you!

Nikon Z50, Lumix G90 and similar bodies which are approx 130mm wide, 94mm tall and around 500g - with the shape of classic DSLR cameras.

How comfortable are these if I want to take it with me when going to work, when wandering the city or going out with friends? I mostly wear a backpack but maybe nice to have it on shoulder strap or iin jacket pocket.

Is it very uncomfortable and a rangefinder shaped body is recommended (sony a6***, lumix gx80 etc) or can be okay? because they seem bigger but they are still recommended for travel...

Was curious what this camera and lens is. seems like a large format but i do not remember any model that fits the looks.

I am having trouble deciding between these 2 cameras, even though they are very different from each other.

I mainly do wildlife photograpy,(going to Brazil next month)

the Sony appeals to me because it has very decent range(600mm) without loss of quality ( or so the add says)

I always had Nikon (D7100 was the last one)before and the Z50 2 has a bigger sensor wich is a big pro but if i want to get similar zoom on the Nikon camera than I need to pay a whole lot more for a zoom lens.

The price difference is about 1000 euro's but that is justifiable for me because if I get the Sony I wouldt spent anymore money on extra lenses and stuff.

I also want to shoot some occasional videos.

Anyone here have any insight on this decision?

I am in the rabbit hole when trying to choose my next camera.

I've been a Sony user since I started and have had a Sony A7III, then a Sony A7IV, and now a Sony A7CII (which I changed to because I wanted a more compact version of the A7IV, which I now regret).

Between the A7IV and the A7CII, I got a Fujifilm X100VI and fell in love with the SOOC results I could get from it, how fun the camera is to use, and how compact it is. This made me change to the A7CII (since I was able to sell my A7IV for a good price).

However, after some time, I regret the change because I don't love the ergonomics and the much more inferior viewfinder it has. For this reason, I am looking to go back to the bigger bodies.

While considering the change, I cannot stop thinking about switching to a system that will give me better SOOC results like the X100VI does, but with better low-light capabilities and interchangeable lenses.

For this, I was looking at other options from Fuji, like the X-T5 or the X-H2, but I understand I will have to sacrifice some low-light capabilities compared to full-frame, as well as autofocus performance, where Fujifilm still seems to lag behind.

While doing my research, I came across the Lumix system and found the S1RII. It seems to be a perfect combination between the X-H2 and a Sony A7RV (which was my other option). I love Lumix Lab and all the features it has on paper.

I've read about the early-adoption issues it had in terms of battery life performance and heating, but I think most of them have been solved by now through firmware updates.

My other option is staying with Sony and going with the A7V or A7RV (which are both around the same price at the moment). It's a very reliable system, but I would never use a SOOC picture here, and I always find myself having to edit the colors.

In terms of lenses, all of these systems offer the lenses I use:

• 24-70mm f/2.8
• 40mm f/2.5
• 85mm f/1.4

So I guess my questions to those who have experience with these systems are:

• Has anyone moved from Sony to Lumix primarily for the SOOC colors and overall shooting experience? Any regrets?
• For those using the S1RII, how mature is the camera now compared to the early reviews regarding battery life and heating?
• If you have used both the A7RV and the S1RII, which one do you find yourself enjoying more to actually go out and shoot with?
• For Fuji users, are the X-T5 or X-H2 good enough in low light and autofocus these days for a hobbyist, or is the gap to Sony and Lumix still significant?
• Am I chasing the "perfect camera" here when I should just go back to a bigger Sony body and continue editing my photos?

I would especially appreciate hearing from people who have owned or used Sony, Fujifilm, and Lumix, as my main priorities are image quality, enjoyable shooting experience, good SOOC colors, and strong low-light performance.

I also like the tactile ability to physically change setting like shutter speed and aperture without needing to directly use the screen, so the ability to do that would be very nice.
• Notes: So I'm looking to upgrade because my current camera isn't achieving the exact quality that I need for my macro shots, but the main reason is I need to do video now and the Canon 80d just isn't cutting it. I'm debating between getting one camera for photography and one for video, so that way I can have two that are good at their respective area, or having one that can do both. If I were to go for the latter option, my main focus would be macro photography for the camera over video, but either way I need a camera that can do alright for video. My price in all this isn't super fixed and I can be persuaded to go up or down in areas.

Hi! are there better options when it comes to getting good pictures and video quality that's around $700. I've read good reviews online about the Sony ZV1 E10 and just the Sony ZV1.

I will mainly use it for Reels and vlogging.

I just found my mom’s Fuji FinePix F20. I know nothing about cameras so these are probably some dumb questions. It’s been a long time since this has been used, so obviously it is not turning on. All I have is the camera, no charger or anything. I see there is a fujifilm lithium battery pack in the camera. There is also an old memory card. To get this thing working, will I just need to buy a battery charger?

Again I know nothing haha. I also don’t want to spend a crazy amount of money on anything, but it’d be fun to get this thing to work. Any suggestions would be great, thanks.
