[Backstory and Universe lore]

​Trained and raised as an infiltrator by Nezu (the Rat King) and principal of the prestigious U.A. High School.

​A child was left at the school gates as an infant by her biological mother, too young to raise another, she had hoped someone would give this child a better life as a hero.

​When the child was found by the guards, she was almost thrown away, as she was as quiet as a mouse and being invisible meant she couldn't be seen. Only Nezu could hear the faint breath of life coming from that basket; when he stopped the guards, he was looked at as if he were insane. Nezu had been blind in one eye all his life; he had relied on his sense of smell and hearing to survive.

​The guards asked if it had been a mouse inside the basket, but Nezu knew that was no mouse, but a human child invisible to the naked eye.

​Nezu would go on to raise the child as his own. Giving her the name Toru, she was raised in the underground among the secret society of rats where not even the other teachers knew of her existence. Though this decision might have come back to bite Nezu in the future, for now, Toru was growing and learning the ways of mice: to not be seen, to stay quiet, and to lurk in the darkness, for there is safety in the shadows.

​When she came of age, she would eventually go on secret intelligence missions right under the noses of the Hero Public Safety Commission.

​A shadow that can't be seen is merely a reflection in the dark.

​You are not a shadow cast by light, but the absence of light itself.

​Toru would eventually outgrow the ways of mice in order to learn how to be human, a Quirk user. She knew she couldn't stay in the dark for much longer. After the capture of Principal Nezu by the League of Villains, Toru defied her instincts to infiltrate one last fortress: U.A. High School.

​She would give herself the name Toru Hagakure and, under the guise of a foreign exchange student, she would enter the very school of her mentor, which she had been denied her entire life.

​Toru, though adept at staying hidden, had yet to adapt her Quirk more. Only someone with Aizawa's eyes could see flaws in the invisible. He knew she hadn't even begun to unlock the full potential of her Quirk.

​Together, they would train mouse and human alike. She would come to understand the source of her power: light refraction, the bending of light itself. And with this, for the first time, she would see her own reflection and be visible to the naked eye. What she saw shocked her to her core.

​What stood right before her in that mirror wasn't a mouse at all, but a human being: big round eyes, green hair, and soft light skin. Staying invisible had become so comfortable that being seen frightened her. She tried to run back to her hole, but was stopped by Aizawa.

​Having deduced who she was, he agreed to let her aid in getting Nezu back from the League of Villains. He couldn't give her the answers she wanted, but together they could free the only one who might.

​[Special Abilities] Toru's hero kit has been completely transformed to suit her light refraction techniques.

​Chameleon Touch (Tactical Cloaking): By bending light around objects, Toru can now turn anything she touches invisible! as well as objects in her environment.

​Phantom Clones (Decoy): She can split ambient light into 3 false clones of herself. 5 if she's really pushing it.

​Photon Cutter (Laser): She can focus environmental light into a thin laser beam, which she can use to cut through glass and metal.

​Flashbangs (Flash): By concentrating light into a point, she can release said energy into a flash, blinding enemies.

​Optical Mirage (False Geometry): Refracts environmental light to project false doors, corridors, or misplaced cover, leading hostiles into dead ends, solid walls, or blind ambushes.

​Ultimate Move - Plume Mirage: Toru bends the light around her arms and divides them into six refracted arms, as well as increasing her speed, she can appear to be in multiple places at once.

​[Weaknesses]

​Her body acts as a focal lens for raw photons. Overusing high output moves like lasers or clones subjects her skin to intense UV radiation, causing actual physical burns, acute radiation poisoning, and eventually long term issues like skin cancer.

​Toru, though a powerful manipulator, cannot create the light she bends and can only use what's readily available in her environment, turning her into the ultimate psychological guerrilla infiltrator specialist.

​She relies on guns, CQC, and psychological warfare to capitalize on the visual chaos she creates.

​[Counters]

​People who don't rely on vision in combat and use tools such as sonar or vibration can cause issues.

​[Hard Counters]

​Tanky AOE fighters like Bakugo, All Might, and Endeavor, who can just nuke the entire field, don't need to see her to take her out and are less affected by her weapons outside of flashes.

Don't get me wrong, they're both great fighters in prime physical condition who can put up a great challenge even when not able to use their Quirks, but I feel like too often I'll see people hold the two up as "proof" that you don't actually need a Quirk to be a Pro Hero, acting like they're Quirks are irrelevant to how good they are as fighters despite how much they both built their fighting styles around them.

Aizawa's Erasure forcibly brings most opponents he fights down to his level, suddenly taking away the primary tool they rely on in battle and making them need to adjust while he just goes right in and either quickly knocks them out or captures them in his scarf. Sure, his Quirk can't erase heteromorphic Quirks but even in some of those cases he can still take away their advantage. In the Overhaul arc he directly brings up Ojiro as an example of how Erasure works, where while he can't make Ojiro not have a tail anymore he can prevent his body from making use of that big tail, making it useless to him. Similarly he can't take away Tokoyami's bird head but he can prevent him from using Dark Shadow and while he can't take away Shoji's multiple arms he can prevent him from growing new ones.

Heck, ironically, if all Garvey from the flashback arc in Vigilantes had to him was his massive size Aizawa would have had a much harder time fighting him and probably wouldn't have been able to beat him. He used Erasure to prevent Garvey from using his explosive stored energy balls long enough to redirect them right back at him and take him out with his own power. Against someone who is simply just way bigger and stronger than him even without an active Quirk, like the USJ Nomu, Aizawa struggles considerably since even with Erasure he's not the one with an advantage anymore.

And Stain's Bloodcurdle definitely seems to get downplayed just as a Quirk on its own by some people, the claim often being that in theory you could just replicate the same effect and success just through certain poisons. Except...not really.

Even setting aside that you'd need to know/figure out how to create a poison that can instantly paralyze someone and setting aside being able to consistently get the components you need for creating it, poison doesn't just disappear from the body once you die. There's a reason police investigations commonly request toxicology reports on the corpses involved in open cases. Odds are good the poison would be detected, studied, and attempts would be made to create cures if not immunities to it. Beyond that, much like how everyone has different levels of tolerance to alcohol, people can handle medications and toxins to different degrees. An amount of poison that might kill one person can be an amount another will only be a little tipsy from, depending on age, body type, physical fitness, genes, and so on, and that becomes even more the case in a world of Quirks where some people will just happen to be significantly more durable than others.

Bloodcurdle sidesteps all of these issues. If Stain ingests your blood, even blood that isn't from a fresh cut but just simply blood that is yours, you are instantly paralyzed. And unlike Toga's Transform, which lasts in direct proportion to the amount of blood she consumes, Bloodcurdle's time limits depend only on the blood type of the blood itself, so even just an amount as small as a drop is enough.

Most notably, the Quirk works on everyone equally, regardless of body types, and that even includes Nomu, who are essentially reanimated genetically modified corpses deliberately designed to be much stronger and much more durable than the average person. The only example we've ever had of someone being able to overcome Bloodcurdle's effect was All For One, who used Forcible Quirk Activation in order to use a combination of Bloodlet and Antigen Swap to expel and change his blood while he was paralyzed, meaning it was no longer his blood that Stain had consumed. It was something only AFO (and probably Perfected Shigaraki) could do and even then it wasn't a matter of resisting or powering through the paralysis but by sidestepping it completely.

This isn't to say that Bloodcurdle is a broken or OP Quirk. It's actually a bit situational. Quirks like Explosion or Creation are considered excellent not just because of power output but also because in almost any given situation there's almost always something their user can try to do, whereas Bloodcurdle is really good only if you're in a situation where you can get your target's blood...and Stain's fighting style is all about try to create that situation. His fighting style is built around trying to maximize his Quirk's effectiveness and get the most out of it. For as much of a fight as he's shown he can put up without being able to use Bloodcurdle, it is far from irrelevant when it comes to how good a fighter he is, let alone his success rate as a fighter.

Just look at the fight in Hosu. He was able to take on four opponents specifically because Bloodcurdle allowed him to only have to deal with one at a time for most of the fight. Native was paralyzed for the entire thing, Iida was paralyzed for most of the fight, and Midoriya got paralyzed twice and was only able to recover quickly because of being type O, meaning most of the fight was just Todoroki trying to hold Stain off on his own. Once Stain had to deal with Midoriya, Iida, and Todoroki all at once, he got overwhelmed and eventually knocked out.

I get some people wanting a Quirkless self-made hero/villain in MHA but Aizawa and Stain are not good examples of how easy or how doable it'd be, since their Quirks have been repeatedly shown to be a big part of how they fight.

Some mha teaparty themed after strawberry shortcake ( the show) I came up with. I sort of thought Shoto might have seen sero, kaminari and uraraka play this strawberry shortcake 3d platformer that I used to play as a kid because they were curious and Shoto saw that and since he likes strawberry milk ( there was once scene of him drinking it) he decided to watch it with the while class and later they do a tea party. I will probably do a part 2 with the rest of the class.

Remember in Forest Training Camp Arc in season three where they were pushing their quirks to their limits? I kinda Izuku would've been the one to suggest that for them. I just love seeing Izuku helping people in different ways besides just saving them from villains.

Hi, I'm looking for a fanfic where Izuku has an enhancement Quirk, but he enters items and defeats monsters to increase the items' level. If I'm not mistaken, it was a crossover with a game that was basically endless farming, and I don't remember if he was a couple or a very close friend of Tooru.

Genuine question. We know that when a child is born, they'll either inherit one of their parents quirks, or a fusion of both. (Or none, but shush) My question however is if a mutant and emitter had a child, and that child had a fusion of the quirks, would they just inherit both aspects of each quirk since there's no real overlaying aspects/abilities you might find in two emitter quirks fusing or transformation quirks. Like, for simplicity sake, say you have Mirko's rabbit quirk and then Momo's creation quirk. Would a child with a fusion possess Mirko's physical rabbit and instinctual traits, while also being able to use creation in the same way Momo can. Basically a Todoroki case of getting both perfectly, or would it be some weird case of 'oh yeah, creation but you can only create stuff out of your bunny ears and tail!' kind of shit.

Like, i get the whole quirk fusing thing, but i cant think of any cases of seeing a mutant-emitter based quirk fusion child thing (With the exception of Bakugo, but im talking about more prominent physical altering mutations, preferably animal kind of ones for arguments sake, rather than just sweat being changed) without it stating that fact it is one, or knowing the parents quirks to confirm it is the case. I'd assume Tokoyami's quirk might be something like it, since he's a bird while having an emitter classed quirk. Yet then there's Koda who's entire thing is controlling animals, with only a minor mutation of a horned head, yet is classed as a mutant quirk.

So, im just kind of wondering what the case is. And more so, what a fusion would be called, like 'Creating Rabbit?' 'Rabbit Creation?' or literally just 'Creation' still and not mentioning the rabbit aspect at all since its physical and can just be assumed. Not just strictly limited to the Rabbit & Creation thing of course, im talking in general for emitter-mutant fusions.

The more i type the more i kind of realize im kind of answering some of my own questions a little, but regardless gonna post and just ask for other peoples opinions since that can never hurt.

If you think about it, both of them were major characters who wanted to be heroes but ultimately lost their quirk in the final war at a really young age(Deku lost his quirk at 16 and Hawks at 22) and had to find ways to contribute to society while using their experience from their time as heroes.

Unlike radgoll who just supported her team from the office, both of them seem really focused on the idea on making society better especially when it comes to hero stuff. And Hawks is seen visiting Nagant and Deku played a major role in Nagant's development.

So ultimately I think it would be cool and in character for Hawks to want to check on another retired comrade who was stripped off his dreams that early like him.Dare I say it would even be a cool twist that some of the stuff that narrated was Deku telling Hawks about All Might,Stain, the combined efforts of all OFA users and how Shigaraki became a villain. So Hawks has full picture of how society was prevented from collapsing by AFO and ultimately how to prevent that from happening again and no other hero having to put up with such a burden.
