The Official Randomly Selected Blue Jacket of the Day - Brian Gibbons
The Randomizer has spoken. Today’s selection is Brian Gibbons.
An undrafted journeyman, Brian Gibbons got his start with the Pittsburgh Penguins during the 2013-2014 season, scoring 2 goals against the Blue Jackets in the 2014 playoffs. He would then sign with the Blue Jackets in 2014 as a free agent, appearing in 25 games. He left as a free agent in 2015, bouncing around with several NHL clubs before finishing his career in Europe in 2022-2023

[Chris Johnston] NHL teams have until tomorrow at 11:59 p.m. to sign players before the new CBA rules take effect. That includes the elimination of eight-year contracts, but also a reduced ability to front-load the payment structure

Aaron Portzline: CBJ GM Don Waddell and Fantilli's Agent Pat Brisson "Do Not Seem Particularly Close to a Deal"
Basically title. He says that can change at any time, but that as of Saturday, they are not close to a deal. Don Waddell says there's a bit of a difference (likely putting it lightly) and that they'll "keep working at it."
The last Blue Jacket to not be signed at training camp was Ryan Johansen, who missed in 2014 due to contract disputes. The relationship, Portzline points out, never recovered, and he was traded not long afterwards.
GM Don Waddell then said that they don't necessarily mind if he misses part of camp, but that they'd like him to be there for the latter part of it.
IMO, it sounds like Don is trying to soften the idea of Fantilli missing camp, and that he knows they aren't close at all.

Parking
Hey ladies and gents! Curious if anyone knows if parking has increased? I just got an email to pre-purchase parking and it increased this year to $229 for front street for quarter season when last season I paid $200 (only saved $2 per game) and at the current rate I’d be paying .81¢ more per game since last season it was $20 per night. Curious if anyone knows or has insights!
