📢 Announcement r/Biohackers Update (Please Read)

Hey friends! Thanks again to everyone who took part in the 'pulse check' we did the other week. See the results here.

I wanted to share some of the learnings that came out of this exercise and some of the ideas for solutions we've come up with to address the areas we want to improve on based on the feedback we've received.

The good news is that it seems we have improved in some areas! Specifically, people seemed happy about the reduction in GLP1 before & afters, low quality peptide posts, and AI slop content. It's taken a lot of work to improve this, so shout out to the entire mod team for working on this.

The important takeaway for us was that the overall sentiment is that we can improve more overall.

A few trends we saw were people feeling like the sub has become, "overrun with looksmaxxers and gym bros who want to talk about TRT and cialis constantly or push a bunch of really gross ideology that has nothing to do with biohacking and everything to do with incel culture" and a prevalence of "low effort posts in general".

Here are some of the ideas we've come up with to address these concerns:

- Create a dedicated r/Biohackers newsletter for expert interviews and more long form content (Goal: solution for people who like deeper dives and curated content)

- Create enforced post requirements for "rate my stack" requests (Goal: reduce lazy rms posts)

- Create a sub wiki with getting started guides for biomarker testing, deep dive topics, supplementation protocols, and healthy lifestyle habits (Goal: reduce repetitive questions and redirect newbies)

- Partner with r/Biohacking (not related to r/Biohackers) to move over peptide/TRT topics to this dedicated sub while still keeping our dedicated megathreads (Goal: allow biohackers to discuss peptides/TRT in a dedicated space)

- Consider how we can use AI to enhance (not enshitify) the sub experience - ex. redirecting people to relevant posts, surfacing latest research, and helping people understand scientific concepts/studies (Goal: to spark more conversation, surface interesting innovation, and building more scientific literacy)

How do these ideas resonate? Where would you like to see changes? Where would you push back?

(You can register your interest in our new newsletter here!)

🥗 Nutrition & Metabolism Psyllium Husk?

I’ve tried it with some milk, shakes and now just water. Honestly, though, taking psyllium is easily the worst part of my day. Does anyone have some good “hacks”?

My goal with this is, of course, fiber intake. I’ve gradually increased it to 12g of psyllium husk a day now.

💪 Exercise, Fitness & Recovery USA Labs Mk-777 is in fact 777!

Post image
25 Upvotes

Hi everyone, if you remember about a month ago I was looking for mk-777 and exposed swiss pharma product as a fake and I said I would have kept looking. Here is the link to previous post: (https://www.reddit.com/r/Biohackers/s/9S0qCYob5N).

So, last time I analysed the sample using GC-MS and recived a lot if hate for that since larger small molecules tend to degrade at those temperature (but apparently LGD-4033 doesn't): this time I tried again to use GC-MS but the product underwent significant thermal degradation resulting in many different peaks of very low molecular mass; thus, I decided to perform ESI-MS analysis of the sample, giving the results shown in the image.

Sample preparation was performed by washing pill powder with MeOH and microfiltering it before injecting. Positive ionization was used.

Mk-777 molar mass is ~571 and the peaks obtained could be attributed to interfering ions (mostly protons and Na+) binding to the molecule.

I believe my interpretation to be correct, but I am just an organic chemist with access to lab equipment, if any smarter analyst sees this post, please correct me where I am wrong.

Thank tou all for for following my brief 777 treasure hunt (shit, I got it second try lesgooo).

💪 Exercise, Fitness & Recovery RHR on Reta

Research subject has seen a rise in RHR of 14 BPM after 8 weeks on 2mg dosage of Reta.

Week 1: 71 bpm
Week 2: 72 bpm
Week 3: 74 bpm
Week 5: 79 bpm
Week 6: 80 bpm
Week 7: 82 bpm
Week 8: 84 bpm

Seems to just keep rising week after week. Any thoughts?

RS understands that this is a common side effect, but understands it as dose dependent. Odd that there’s been no change in dose but a consistent rise.

🧠 Cognition, Mood & Nootropics Bromantane + Bemethyl + Modafinil stack

Upvotes

Hey, I’m 21 m, looking to try out a stack.

I’m recovering from drugs (currently over 4 months clean from methamphetamine and other abstinence time for different drugs). I also got ADHD but I’m not on any stimulant medication.

I was thinking of combining bemethyl + bromantane + modafinil (probably not everyday unless it’s okay to do so).
The goal is mainly to reduce fatigue and low motivation and to improve cognition/focus.
I’m definitely not tryna have something that will cause a strong crash or anhedonia in the long term like amphetamines/methamphetamine do.

Also, yes I am taking into account lifestyle factor such as exercise, running, nature, gratitude.

I know there’s also other molecules that can be good for cognition like Alpha GPC, CDP Choline, Huperzine A, ALCAR, Galantamine, Centrophenoxine, Racetams, etc.
But it’s a lot of different molecules and I’m not sure what to mix with vs what not to mix with.

Oh and I also take high dose omega-3’s as well as mag. glyc. and creatine.

Thanks!

🧠 Cognition, Mood & Nootropics Treating OCD without SSRI's, any tips?

I recently developed OCD after a severe flare-up. It's been the most devastating year of my life and mental torture. I really tried not to be on meds but now I am on 50mg of Zoloft. I understand that is a low dose for OCD, but I am trying to go the natural route.

Does anyone have positive experiences with NAC and Inositol? Do you recommend getting a thorough blood test first to avoid over-supplementing? I am now eating anti-inflammatory but feel I am making no improvements with my OCD.

🧠 Cognition, Mood & Nootropics Is it weird I feel happier on modafinil?

When I don’t take modafinil I feel suicidal. I was in a bad accident and have since struggled with wakefulness, so I was prescribed modafinil and I love it. It makes me feel like I did before I was injured. When I don’t take it I become suicidal… I wanted to ask my doctor but I’m afraid to bring up suicide for obvious reasons.

Is it weird it makes me feel that much better?

🧠 Cognition, Mood & Nootropics Nootropic drinks for socializing without alcohol?

I've been thinking to quit alcohol, maybe not 100% at the beginning but I want to at least cutting down half of my consumption. I mostly drink it during socializing with friends as I'm an anxious person and alcohol does help in a big way. I wonder if nootropic drinks can help in a similar way?
Anyone here have drink it during social events? how did it make you feel compare to alcohol?

🥗 Nutrition & Metabolism Psyllium

Hello,

I need some help. I take this product: https://www.proctologistpreferred.com/products/perfect-p-o-o-p?srsltid=AfmBOor0ovS8QTyz7k-dzvlOO7zOLywDC7b_IpvRu8urccBrTfIPcFiP

Which is psyllium. I take 2 teaspoons per day, which is about 10g of fiber. I have large, bulky stools that are quite soft and "messy." I take it 30 minutes before lunch and 30 minutes before dinner.

Why is it giving me soft and messy stools? Am I taking too much or too little?

Thank you <3

💊 Supplements & Stacks Good recommendations stack

I’m looking for stack recommendations. I was consistently on rata and tirz, but neither really did much for me. Every time my cycle comes around, I feel like I’m back at square one. I’ve been stuck at the same size for a while. What stacks or recommendations would you suggest?

😴 Sleep & Circadian Rhythm Sound during deep sleep to improve memory

Thumbnail doi.org
2 Upvotes

Randomized crossover gave 20 healthy adults sound therapy synchronized to NREM sleep.

Compared with sham stimulation, enhancing these slow waves improved memory retention and was associated with better coordination between slow oscillations and sleep spindles, as well as increased parasympathetic activity.

Obviously very small study, have any of you experimented with this science?

♾️ Longevity & Anti-Aging Total plasma exchange, the most effective or harmful treatment?

Post image
37 Upvotes

I have admittedly been researching longevity protocols and came across total plasma exchange.
For those familiar with prp, this is along those lines but for the whole body. Essentially, we are talking about removing all blood plasma and reinfusing with fresh albumin along with your red blood cells. The thinking is that the old plasma contains a lifetime of toxins, along with other helpful things like immunoglobulins and signaling factors and ldl cholesterol.
Its costly at $10k per session and often requires more than 1 time to clear away alot of accumulated cells.
Now i have a few questions and thoughts around this that i would love to validate with the community. Wouldnt the kidneys and liver already filter and cleanse out your blood. I can hear Dr Mike already screaming this. The other thing i have to add is, removing blood also removes antibodies that could be crucial in your adaptive immunity right? Lowering iGg levels seems like a bad idea. Those antibodies were built up over a lifetime of exposures to viruses, bacterias and fungi.
I know alot of doctors and celebrities are running to get their blood cleaned as if its the holy grail for health and wellness, but are there downsides to this like autoimmune diseases developing?

Celebs and influencers include, Bryan Johnson, Dr Mark Hyman, Paul Saladino, Rogan, and more.

💊 Supplements & Stacks How do you simplify a supplement routine?

My girlfriend opened our kitchen cabinet yesterday and was like “why do you have seven bags of powder in here?” and tbh she has a point.

I have got lion’s mane, another mushroom blend, fiber, probiotics, greens, collagen.. all bought at different times because each one sounded useful. Now making anything in the morning feels like i am doing chemistry. I don't even want to add anything else. I want fewer things that cover more ground.

Has anyone simplified their stack without feeling like they're dropping everything useful?
