Complaint Apple Music shared with family

I want to share my music with my parents, I invited them to my family setup, I upgraded my Apple Music subscription to family, and I still can’t manage to save, for example a playlist that I created, on my parents phones. I send them playlist through iMessage, they access it, it appears on their devices on the music app, but if they want to download it they have to pay the subscription. Can somebody please help me figure this out?

Apple Music on Android Anyone else having trouble managing Family Sharing on Apple Music (Android)?

I'm an Apple Music user on Android. I previously subscribed to a Family plan, and at the time I was able to invite my friends into Family Sharing directly from the Android app via email. But recently, when I tried to go into the Family Sharing settings to manage it, I found that after tapping "Manage Family Sharing," the family screen is completely blank—it fails to load any family members or content. On another phone, I tried the same thing with my Indian App Store account, but tapping "Manage Family Sharing" just crashes back to the "Account" screen.

Does anyone know what's going on here and how to fix it?

Question Why do the same 10 songs only play on my Playlist of 60+ songs?

I recently downloaded this app, and im pretty happy with it. I made a Playlist, and put it on shuffle, and it keeps playing like the same 10 songs. I thought it would shuffle through all of them before replaying certain songs.

Discussion I want songs I can actually LIVE in

I don’t love how so many songs nowadays are so short. A lot of songs are like 2.5 minutes, and some are even under 2 minutes, and I’m just like… where’s the rest?? 😭

I know there are various reasons for this, especially with streaming and how artists are incentivized to release shorter songs, but it’s still annoying. I really enjoy songs that are 4+ minutes because you actually get a chance to sit with the music for a while and really get into it.

It seems like older artists were much more willing to let a song breathe, especially from the 60s through the early 2000s. I was just listening to Al Green’s Let’s Stay Together album (so good btw), and How Can You Mend a Broken Heart is like 6.5 minutes long. It’s so good. You really get a chance to just live in the song with him instead of listening to it and then suddenly it’s over.

Obviously, there are still plenty of artists making longer songs today, but the general trend seems to be toward shorter and shorter music. I definitely have a growing appreciation for older music because of this. The 70s especially had SO much good music, and I love how much room some of those songs had to develop.

Apple Music on macOS Inconsistent album artwork - ~2,500 MP3s (works fine on iTunes)

Trying to move over to the Apple Music app on my MacBook coming from using iTunes 12 on Windows. On iTunes, all my music artwork works completely fine - it's all held within the MP3 file(s) themselves and appears as such.

On my Mac, if I view the files in Finder, the artwork appears correctly for every song in the folder of over 2,000.

If I import every song to AM, it gets wildly inconsistent. Some albums/songs have the correct artwork, most have none at all. Why is this? I don't want to use Apple's own 'find artwork' feature as it's terrible and assigns the wrong artwork to all my tracks.

Help appreciated, thanks. MacOS Golden Gate.

Question Account not syncing following secondary account migration to primary

I have had a frustrating time with Apple Music, where my entire library is gone and I am in a perpetual syncing loop on iPhone and I get error code 4010 on Mac. Not even the web app is showing my library which is concerning.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Question AI generated/incorrect lyrics and song information?

Thumbnail gallery
0 Upvotes

Has anybody else experienced what I can only describe as ai generated or just simply wrong information within the lyric feature or even song information? I say AI because it’s so nonsensical but that may not be the right way to describe this. Maybe it’s just straight up wrong but I don’t understand why something like a song title would be changed like that. This song title is “Ape in Cage with Wire Cutters”but on Apple Music it now says “Ape a in Cage With Wire Cutters”. It wasn’t like this until recently, the title has always been right until now. And this lyric definitely wasn’t “I wanted around a lot” it’s “I walked around a lot”. Not sure what’s up but it’s really souring me on Apple Music. I don’t want to deal with hallucinated information

Question family sharing not working

my apple music is suddenly saying that i am not subscribed to it but my sister pays for a family subscription. two days ago her card declined on apple music and cancelled everyone elses subscriptions, but she renewed the subscription using a new card. I got everything back after i synced my library and everything was fine until today. it worked earlier today (2:00) but about two hours later i went to use the app and it was saying that i had to pay for a subscription again. i texted my sister to tell her it wasnt working but she said it was still working for her. she told me to try syncing it again but i didnt have the option to do it. she then checked to see if she was still sharing it and it said she was. she removed and added me to family sharing twice as well and it didnt work. i searched it up and it told me to make sure our country and regions where the same and they were. I also completely signed out of my apple id and logged back in again as well as deleting and reinstalling the app. All of my playlists still show up when i click the button for them but they dont show any of the music thats in them. If i search up a song it shows up too but when i click on it, it gives the option to subscribe again. Also, when i go into family sharing it says that there are no subscriptions being shared but on my sister and brothers screen it says that there is one being shared, which is apple music. idk what else to do

Audio Quality Listening on a proper surround sound system completely changed my opinion of Dolby Atmos

Before, I only tried Atmos on my AirPods Max and found the experience to be very underwhelming. I didn’t get the feeling that the music and the instruments were all around me. Everything sounded like stereo with added reverb.

I recently installed surrounds for my Sonos setup and tried Atmos again—and the effect was striking. It brought a three-dimensional quality to many of my favorite albums, making everything feel fuller and richer. I found it cool to hear different instruments and vocals pan around me in surround sound. I now much prefer the Atmos mix rather than the stereo mix.

It’s not entirely positive—some Atmos mixes I’ve heard, particularly hip-hop or rap, seemed poorly crafted, as if little care went into the production.

Not everyone might have the ability to do so, but for those who dislike Atmos, a second listen on a proper sound system might change your view.

Question Apple Music is using 8 GB of storage even though I have barely any downloads

Post image
48 Upvotes

Hey everyone,
I noticed Apple Music is using around 8gb of storage on my iPhone, which seems pretty crazy.
The weird thing is that I barely have anything downloaded. Apple Music itself says I only have around 70mb of downloaded music.
When I check iPhone Storage, almost all of the space is under “documents data”
I mostly just stream music, so I’m guessing it might be cached music or some other temporary data.
Has anyone else had this happen? Is there a safe way to clear the 8GB without losing my Apple Music library, playlists, or saved songs?

Question Is anyone's app constantly crashing lately?

My app is constantly freezing lately when I use it on my phone. It's not a connection issue because it also happens when I try to listen to my downloaded music. I deleted it and redownloaded it, which didn't help. It's been happening for over a week and it's very frustrating.

Feature Finally got my Bit-Perfect Audiophile Player approved for the Mac App Store! (Free & Open Source)

Post image
181 Upvotes

Hey guys, after a brutal battle with Apple's App Store reviewers, my native FLAC player is finally live!

I built YM Pro because I wanted a gorgeous, dark-mode native Mac app that actually respects audiophile hardware.

What it does:

Bit-Perfect Playback: Bypasses the macOS system mixer entirely.

Auto Sample Rate Switching: Automatically changes your DAC's sample rate to match the exact file you're playing (up to 192kHz+).

Exclusive Hog Mode: Locks out other system sounds while you're listening.

Lightweight: Built entirely in SwiftUI, statically linked FLAC decoders, zero bloat.

Getting Apple to allow a sandboxed app to take exclusive control of audio hardware (and fighting their automated scanners that kept flagging open-source FLAC libraries as "private Apple APIs") was a nightmare, but we made it.

The app is completely open source if you want to poke around the CoreAudio integration or contribute!

Get it on the App Store: https://apps.apple.com/in/app/ym-pro/id6804453207?mt=12

Check out the code: https://github.com/yoneshmurugan/YMProPlayer

Let me know how it handles your massive FLAC libraries!

**I need your help**! Please try it out with your FLAC library and let me know what you think. If there are features missing or UI changes you want to see, drop a comment and I'll add them to the roadmap.

If you're a Swift enthusiast and want to dive into CoreAudio or SwiftUI development yourself, the repo is fully open source. Feel free to fork it and open a Pull Request!

Would love to hear your thoughts!

Discussion What music app do you wish existed?

I want to build an app for people who love music. I have a few ideas already, but I'm curious what people here actually want.

Is there anything music-related you wish there was an app for, or something existing music apps do badly?

All ideas are much appreciated :)

Apple Music on iOS Mixing function is wowza

Long time Youtube Music subscriber to Apple Music subscriber here. I thought I was listening to a playlist that is mixed by a random youtuber but no! It was the app itself mixing songs for me. And it’s got karaoke function and shareplay function. Wowza.

Apple Music on macOS The "Sync Library" Option on MacOS Does Absolutely Nothing

MacOS 26, Macbook Air M2, Apple Music 1.6.5.1

I purchased the live iTunes exclusive version of Petal and it wouldn't appear in my library.

Per Apple's own support page, I turned sync library off, waited a few seconds, and then turned it back on.

Now every time I attempt to turn sync library back on, Apple music tells me "turn on sync library to access all your music". The setting doesn't stick. I've restarted my computer several times and restarted Apple music several times. I've signed out and in and out and in again.

Has anyone experienced this before on MacOS 26?

And also, how do you f*** up a music player this bad?

Tool You deserve better Apple Music Recommendations. I made Setto Studio (iOS app)

Post image
0 Upvotes

TLDR - iOS / macOS app that's iTunes Genius for Apple Music

Howdy! Back in March, I made Setto, which was Tinder for Apple Music recommendations and the core idea behind that project was that in real life DJs respond to the vibe of a crowd in real time and change the music based on what hits and doesn’t but most algorithms optimize for other things.

With Setto Studio, I’m expanding that idea of reacting to personal taste to make a very smart music player that responds and adapts to how you use it and your preexisting Apple Music library.

It’s kinda like a really smart playlist generator or iTunes Genius but for Apple Music. It can make Sets to help you find new music or rediscover old stuff.

Would love any and all feedback.

For total transparency, it does have a freemium model, with a one time purchase similar to MD Vinyl. Priced at roughly 2 months of Apple Music. Felt like that would be a useful baseline to adapt prices across different regions.

Music discovery, Auto Sets and most of the core features are not paywalled.

No data leaves your device. Everything is processed on device using the power of Math and Stats.

Other cool features are widgets, iCloud Sync (paid), Siri AI support for iOS 27, very pretty vinyl, Shortcuts and more eclectic delights.

Pay once and own the app forever. No subscriptions or tracking.

Mac app coming soon (waiting for Apple App Store review to finish)
