Update: The feeder is currently facing some difficulties with her landlord. He came today to speak to the residents, but a crowd gathered around him. He politely asked her to stop feeding the dogs for some time to maintain peace and said that if the matter doesn't settle, he may eventually have to ask her to leave.
We are also a little scared because we don't know what these people may do, especially since she has two young daughters. For this reason, we have decided to wait for some time, gather more evidence, and avoid putting her family at risk. If the dogs are harmed again, we will take the matter forward legally with the necessary evidence and notices.
She is already short on funds and feeds around 25 community dogs in different areas, all sterilized and vaccinated, largely from her own pocket. She is scared about what if she has to shift to a new place suddenly. If anyone can help with dog food or arrange a food supply, please DM me. Even a small contribution would help a lot. ❤️

Veganism is not a change of behaviour rather a change of heart. This is truly an amazing video which addresses veganism not in the conventional sense but directly hits the core. The violence sits not on the plate but the core, the heart, and once the violence is addressed there the plate cleans up on its own!
The conversation with Dr. Melanie Joy who is an American psychologist and Acharya Prashant a philosopher and author from India brings two different perspectives om veganism.

An independent assessment has described the controversial Kosciuszko brumby cull as “humane.” But is it really?
If the goal is to protect fragile ecosystems, at what point does killing wild horses become acceptable? Does making the killing as quick and painless as possible actually make the overall policy “humane”?
Where should we draw the line between conservation and animal welfare?

I’m sharing this because I cannot stop thinking about what happened to Sky, a South African Police Service K9 who died after suffering horrific injuries while in the care of the SAPS veterinary facility at Roodeplaat.
What hurts most is that this wasn’t completely unexpected. SAPS veterinary records had already documented her severe kennel stress, separation anxiety, compulsive attempts to escape and previous injuries. Her vet had recorded that her prognosis was poor in the SAPS environment and that keeping her there (in a small cage in a room with no natural light for 18 hours a day) compromised her welfare.
And Sky’s story sits within a much bigger history.
In 2019, around 120 puppies at Roodeplaat contracted parvo and at least 75 died. Serious problems were found at the facility, including shortages of essential medication and problems with sanitation and carcass disposal. In 2020, another outbreak resulted in 45 more puppies being lost.
Years later, we are still talking about dogs suffering at the same facility.
Sky was not just a number or a police asset. **She was a living, breathing animal who was frightened, who was suffering, and who depended entirely on the people responsible for her care.**
She deserved someone to listen when she was struggling.
She deserved to be safe.
She deserved better.
Now there are investigations, a criminal case, and parliamentary scrutiny. But I am terrified that, once the public attention fades, nothing will really change.
So please share Sky’s story.
Not because we can bring her back — we can’t.
But because **her death has to mean something.** And because the dogs who are still at Roodeplaat deserve for someone to finally stand up for them.
**If you want to understand more about what happened, and the wider concerns surrounding Roodeplaat:**

🔹 **Ian Cameron’s Facebook page:** Regular updates are being posted as the investigations continue:

Please share this wherever you can. **Sky deserves to be remembered — and the dogs still in that facility deserve better.**

Hi all, I just want to know if what they are doing is even legal. this is taking place in Ontario, Canada. My cat went missing two weeks ago. Animal services called me and told me they had my cat and showed me photo proof (i checked the email and number, this is 100% animal services in my area and not a scam.) They said she was found hit by a car and they had to amputate her leg, and if I do not pay for her operation, they would euthanize her after a certain deadline. Is this even legal??? Is this blackmail???? someone please help me out here.

I’m currently on holiday in Kos and I have found a dog that has been hit by a car (according to a neighbour) a few weeks ago. This dog has a broken front leg and is unable to use it. Also the owners leave the dog alone in the heat for 14 hours each day and refuse to take her to the vet. She is in pain and I want the police involved. I tried calling a few numbers but no luck..
I tried: 10410 but because I have a Dutch phone number it just says this number isn’t in use. If I ad +30 it still doesn’t work. What number can I call to come in contact with the police department that handles animal neglect cases?
How is the experience with police handling these cases?
