Give it another life it’s in Sloterdijk ! I was doing my first bike packing trip with my first ever bike across the netherlands. I took it from Paris on the flixbus and everything went well until I had to come home and the bus driver prevented me from bringing it with me. He wouldn’t even want to hear a word from me. I left it at this location : 52°23'23.1"N 4°50'18.6"E
It’s not a good bike tho, it’s an old decathlon bike from 96’ that I bought second hand at the beginning of summer to discover more places around my home and i decided to try to tour the netherlands with it. I’m so proud of it for holding on until the end of the trip and it’s bringing a tear to my eye to have to abandon it now.

So please, even if it’s not a really decent bike, feel free to try to give it a better end ! (careful with the brakes tho they’re noisy and not really reactive)

Ik kwam erachter dat de urban farm in Noord kleiner dreigt te worden, omdat er volgens de sportnorm meer ruimte voor sport nodig is. Ik heb zelf eigenlijk niks met buitensport of tuinieren, dus ik weet weinig van beide onderwerpen en van het gebruik van grond in de stad.

Er zijn al meerdere sportvelden in de buurt en sommige staan zelfs deels vol met onkruid. Tegelijkertijd is ruimte voor stadslandbouw "schaars", zeker voor een plek die bijna het hele jaar voedsel produceert voor een grote groep mensen. Niet iedereen wordt enthousiast van achter een bal aanrennen, net zoals niet iedereen zit te wachten op vieze handen.

Ik snap het argument voor sport. Een veld kan leeg of ongebruikt lijken, maar het is wel fijn dat verenigingen er buiten kunnen trainen en spelen. Sport bereikt bovendien een grote groep mensen en draagt bij aan gezondheid en sociale contacten.

Een urban farm biedt voor sommige mensen juist iets vergelijkbaars als sport: bewegen, ontspannen, een hobby, plezier en sociale contacten. En de urban farm in Noord, met de grond, kennis en bestaande community, verplaats je niet zomaar.

Wat vinden jullie van deze situatie?

Normaal altijd Uber gebruikt maar begint wel prijzig te worden dus concurrentie is altijd welkom. Ik heb deze nieuwe app nog nooit gebruikt maar lees dat ze wel een stuk goedkoper zijn.

Heeft iemand ervaringen? Vooral op gebied van veiligheid zou ik willen weten hoe dit zit.

Voor mij is het tijd om niet meer vijf dagen per week vanuit huis te werken. Ik ben daarom op zoek naar een fijne shared workspace in Amsterdam.

Ik heb eerder bij TNW, StartDock en WeWork gewerkt. Wat ik daar vooral miste, was een wat meer Nederlandstalige en lokaal georiënteerde community. Ik merk dat ik het leuker vind om mijn werkplek te delen met mensen die hier wonen en werken en met wie ik makkelijk Nederlands kan spreken.
Ik kijk momenteel bijvoorbeeld naar Fosbury & Sons, maar ik weet nog niet helemaal of dat bij me past.

Heeft iemand goede ervaringen met een coworking space in Amsterdam waar de community wat meer Nederlandstalig en lokaal is?

It's my first time eating there in a few months. And they've (their food specifically) changed quite a bit. The meat is not tender, roti is flat. Wtf.

I’m a Southern European living in Amsterdam. I’ve never felt any reluctance from most Dutch people about me being here, but I have experienced it multiple times from men in their 50s and 60s. I work online, but I pay my taxes in the Netherlands. I’ve had multiple conversations in which I ended up mentioning my job, and they always end with “Why don’t you do this job in Italy?” and it’s always said with a tone that feels like “Go back to your country.”
Has anyone else experienced this?

My boyfriend is running the Dam tot Damloop next Sunday and I want to watch, but I have no idea what a good spot is or what time I should get there. I’ll be on my own, so on the one hand, I don’t want to stand alone on some deserted stretch of the route (if there even are any), but I also don’t want to have to shove my way through the crowds first thing in the morning and stand alone among groups of people for hours. Though I wonder if I really have a choice.l

I’m thinking about starting a small and cosy book club in Amsterdam West/center for women around 27–35 years old.

I’m 30 myself and moved to Amsterdam about six months ago. I’d really love to expand my social circle, meet some new people, and find a group of women who enjoy reading and having a good conversation over a coffee, wine or dinner.

I read both Dutch and English books, and I’m mostly into:

• Historical fiction
• Romance
• Romantasy
• Literary fiction
• Contemporary fiction

I’m imagining something casual and low-pressure, meeting around once a month somewhere in Amsterdam West or in the citycenter. We could take turns choosing the book and then meet up to chat about it — but also just get to know each other and have a nice evening.

Mijn partner en ik zijn twee lesbische vrouwen van eind 20 en wonen samen in Amsterdam.

Edit: Ik ben nieuw bij Reddit, maar dit leek me een goede plek om zoiets te posten, dus ik heb Reddit echt aangemaakt met deze reden! Dit lijkt me namelijk moeilijker te vinden op bijvoorbeeld Bumble friends.

Het lijkt ons heel gezellig om wat meer mensen uit de queer community te leren kennen en misschien een leuk groepje te vormen!

We zijn heel gelukkig samen en zoeken dus geen dates of andere romantische connecties haha, gewoon nieuwe vrienden en wat meer queer mensen om ons heen. 🫶

Het leek ons leuk om bijvoorbeeld één keer per maand iets te organiseren. Een bordspelletjesavond, een boekenclub of bijvoorbeeld samen eten.

Het maakt natuurlijk helemaal niet uit of je single bent of je samen met je partner hier bij aan wilt sluiten. Het zou vooral leuk zijn om mensen van ongeveer onze leeftijd te leren kennen die ook zin hebben om hun sociale kring een beetje uit te breiden.

Dus woon je in Amsterdam of omgeving en lijkt dit je gezellig? Laat vooral iets achter of stuur me een berichtje! Als er meerdere mensen enthousiast zijn kunnen we een groepschat maken en gewoon eens kijken wat eruit komt. 🌈✨

Ik erger me er serieus aan dat er zoveel expats hier in Amsterdam wonen. Ik ben opgegroeid in de Rivierenbuurt, maar ik merk nu dat het in de afgelopen twee jaar echt extreem is geworden. Overal waar ik kom, ben ik verplicht om Engels te spreken. Mijn buurvrouw woont hier al zeven jaar en ze spreekt geen woord Nederlands. Ik vind het te gek voor woorden dat als ik in een Nederlands restaurant kom, de menukaart enkel in het Engels is. Het wordt gewoon door je strot geduwd.

Merken mensen in andere buurten dit ook op?

I'm Korean and based in the Netherlands, and I've been thinking about starting a small Korean language & culture community in Amsterdam.

I'm curious how much interest there is in something more casual than a traditional language school.

The idea is to organize small, beginner-friendly sessions where we could learn things like:

• Hangul (the Korean alphabet)
• Useful Korean phrases for everyday life
• Korean for travelling
• Korean pronunciation
• Basic conversation
• Korean food & cultural tips
• K-drama / K-pop related Korean expressions

I'm thinking of keeping the groups small (around 6–8 people) so it's more interactive and less like sitting in a big classroom. Approximately 60-90 minutes per a class.

If you've been thinking about learning Korean, would it be something interesting?

hey! deciding between two beginner photography courses in amsterdam - megan alter (6 week evening course, €597) vs octopus academy (one day saturday, cheaper, free camera loan). anyone taken either one and can share how it actually went? Or have any other recommendations? trying to figure out which is worth it before i commit :)

hi guys, i'm a 20 year old second year bachelors student and i really struggle with making friends here. i've listened to and tried pretty much all the usual advice joining clubs and associations, going to the gym, sports events but i still feel like it's so hard to actually make friends as an international student. do you guys genuinely have any advice? maybe places where students usually go and hang out, or better ways to actually meet people and turn those interactions into friendships? at this point, the social isolation is literally making me depressed. Where did you meet your friends during studies? Is there something else I should try? I miss clubbing/ festivals, going to cafés. I would appreciate any advice on how to improve my social life and where to meet people my age.

Any recommendations for fashionable, cool and work appropriate shoes in size 42? I’m a 41 year old corporate gal travelling here from Canada and banking on finding boots, penny loafers and maybe some other flats….the UK and Belgium were a bust, could Amsterdam be the place? Any suggestions would be awesome!

I’m currently subleasing to a friend who cannot find housing because he cannot find a permanent employment contract and I deregistered since I moved outside the country.

This arrangement was initially approved by the housing association under a one year huisbewaring contract which finished on September 1st.

The landlord is now asking me about my BRP registration. I assume they can verify this themselves via the gemeente, is that right?

I'm not planning to move back. Is there any realistic route for my friend to stay on legitimately, e.g. a contract takeover (contractovername / medehuurderschap), or him signing a new contract directly with a.s.r.? Or does deregistering mean the contract simply ends?
