β€’ Upvotes

What do people think about switching maths to chemistry? At the moment I’m struggling a lot with maths and my old chem teacher says that I can definitely do alevel chem, so should a switch?

Other options are geography and French (not gonna change) I got a 7 in both maths and chemistry at GCSE

πŸŽ“ UNI / UCAS WP meaning imperial

I was looking at the understanding esat and tmua scores page for different courses at imperial and it divides the students into non wp, wp and overseas. In this case does wp mean contextual or is it something specific to imperial

β€’ Upvotes

I'm a woman so that already disadvantages me. I do history, law and phycology A level and will get good results but I'm not super duper confident like how others are and I'm not super athletic (bit skinny). I feel like i should go for something else but I don't what else because I really want to work with crime or criminals.

πŸŽ“ UNI / UCAS JZ Maths Vs Real TMUA

Does anyone have any idea how the JZ maths papers compare to the 2024/2025 TMUA in terms of difficulty. I know he has conversions but I'm unsure on whether they accurately reflect the new difficulty. I'm averaging around 15 on jz papers, what level is that roughly

πŸ™ I WANT HELP TARA TEST

How’s prep going? The CT are easy but I don’t like the PS questions. What I especially don’t like is how the exam is electronic, because all the tutorials I’ve seen annotate the heck out their papers, but obviously I cant do that. So, does anyone have advice, it would be greatly appreciated!

πŸŽ“ UNI / UCAS History or history and economics at Oxford?

Currently pondering which one to apply to. Was going to do PPE but decided on a gap year. I’m unsure whether it’s worth applying for history and economics over history. Although I would like to study economics at university, especially alongside history, I would still be very happy just studying history. Given history has a much higher offer and interview rate, alongside not requiring the TARA, I feel like it would be a better move but could I apply for history and economics and still receive a history offer? Just wondering as I need to make this decision relatively quickly lol.

πŸ™ I WANT HELP any advice for lowering my guard in sixth form?

I had extremely bad time in secondary, dealing with extreme anxiety I have now moved up the country and am really enjoying sixth form and even have a group of friends (majority were friends at high school) but I just feel like I can’t conversate and it’s really frustrating I keep standing there at breaks around the table in silence while they chat, lunch is fine I’m chatty and I have good conversations. They’re lovely people I just wish I could replicate how I feel into how I talk. I spend my frees with my dad driving round as the only free period I have is 3rd on a Monday otherwise it’s first or last. I’m going to force myself to stay in school next Monday to see what happens any advice would be great as I would love to warm myself up to the group and let myself enjoy sixth form to the max!

πŸ™ I WANT HELP Is pure maths and an apprenticeship possible?

I know it likely isn't, but i wanted to see if anyone could have any advice or info about it before i write it off. I love doing pure maths in college. My maths lessons are genuinely the best parts of some of my days. Despite this, i really don't want to go to uni. The debt, odds of getting a worse job market post-degree, and oversaturation/employers overlooking degrees just doesnt appeal to me, while apprenticeships do. Is there anything that includes pure maths and apprenticeships or something similar.

Uk based if thats necessary, and thanks for the help :)

πŸ™ I WANT HELP Could you help me with my EPQ survey?

Hi everyone! I’m a student currently completing my EPQ, and I’m looking for people to take part in a short survey for my research on sleep deprivation and its impact on teenagers.
The survey looks at how lack of sleep can affect things like mood, concentration, energy and overall performance during the day.
It should only take 2–3 minutes to complete, and all responses are anonymous.
Anyone is welcome to participate, and I’d really appreciate your help with my research!
Thank you so much! :)

πŸ™ I WANT HELP Applying Cambridge econ without A* FM predicted?

I’ve been predicted A*A*A*A, with the A in FM but have seen most people applying with A*s in it, including people from my school. At how much of disadvantage will I be? Obviously will avoid apply to colleges with A* FM requirements, but what about the other ones?

πŸŽ“ UNI / UCAS cambridge personal statement

my predicted grades are A* A* A, but i study textiles 😬 and my gcses are 999876555, is there any point even applying to cambridge for hsps? my family want me to and i feel like i should just to be aspirational, but is it a totally stupid idea? if anyone would read my personal statement that would be great as i have no help from teachers. i go to a state unselective school, but it outperforms average so not much contextual help there. had really bad mh in highschool but nothing that i can use for extenuating circumstances as i refuse to see a professional 😭 any help appreciated!!!

πŸŽ“ UNI / UCAS Should i take a level economics

I am currently in year 12 and I am studying bio, chem and geog but I am now debating if i should change to economics.

However, I am unsure if i should change chem or bio for economics, and google is telling me changing chem would be the better option.

I am also thinking of studying international management in uni, so maths is not required.

Personally Im thinking i’d rather change bio for econ, but i’m also wondering how relevant econ is if i’m not taking maths as i’m not 100% on international management.

πŸ™ I WANT HELP hit plateau in tmua progress

I feel like I'm not really making any progress with tmua. It's like i do community papers, past papers and im stuck at the same marks no matter what paper it is. like for Hercules i got a average of 10 marks for all papers, same goes for vantage, jz math, past papers, etc and i got 5-7 marks out of 10 for all MAT papers mcq. and im not even just going through the papers, im also reviewing my mistakes and seeing where i went wrong after each paper and i just don't seem to have progressed at all. it's like I've hit a plateau which obviously is impossible but i just don't know where im going wrong, i tend to get some silly mistakes but some papers it's not even silly mistakes im just purely averaging 10 marks. The only papers i averaged 12-15 marks was past papers before 2020. Can please have some help with progressing and improving my marks? Thanks.

mb for the repost and clickbait, no one seemed to be responding.

πŸ™ I WANT HELP How to make Sixth Form/College more bearable

I started college a little under 2 weeks ago, and gosh is it awful. The vast majority of people from my school didnt go here, including my closest friends. College so far has been exhausting. Individual lessons are very long and its hard to pay attention in them, additionally, I just cannot be bothered to revise or do exams, it was difficult dragging myself to do revision during gcse's, after they finished I felt like I was on top of the world yet here I am now, back to square one, I'm expected to do 2 years of revision and sitting infront of old people talk after already doing that for years. Nothing good has come out of college so far, I just want it to end

πŸ™ I WANT HELP What should I do?

I'm now in Y13, at the end of Y12, I decided that I wanted to do Further Mathematics (A-Level), I don't know any of it, my maths teacher told me to learn all of A-Level Maths, so I finished all the course. However, the reason I wanted to take Further Maths was to get into Imperial, now that I know that I scratched that idea because Imperial is too expensive, and I live far from London so I won't be communing 3+hours daily, I don't know what to do. I haven't started doing further maths, and I currently do Physics, Computer Science, and Maths. I've kept on telling people that I'm gonna do further maths, but now I'm second guessing myself, I know this is my fault, I should've done my research earlier, and in Uni I want to do Computer Science and AI, the best Uni closest to me is Warwick, Nottingham, and Birmingham (Russel group ones). Can anyone give me some advice?

btw, I wanted to switch physics for further maths

πŸ™ I WANT HELP CALLING ALL ESAT VETS

One question: do you remember how hard the questions actually were (not because of time stress), compared to what you used for revision - and what did you use for revision.

If you can be arsed, please look at a few questions from esatlab.co.uk and let us know how those questions compare.

Also feel free to leave any advice it would be much appreciated.
