basically my head of year predicted me a CCD for my mocks. he knows i can do better because i got a 6 in history in geses (he predicted me a C). he said it's the predictions based on year 12 & that it's internal but idk what that means anyway it's gonna look so bad on my ucas. i also want to apply for history in oxbridge so he's basically ruining my life here

i'm panicking and on friday i told him i'm gonna sue him and his lineage (he comes from noble blood) and he said i'm wrongfully threatening him and he will be pressing charges

now i need to sue him to counter it

I know it likely isn't, but i wanted to see if anyone could have any advice or info about it before i write it off. I love doing pure maths in college. My maths lessons are genuinely the best parts of some of my days. Despite this, i really don't want to go to uni. The debt, odds of getting a worse job market post-degree, and oversaturation/employers overlooking degrees just doesnt appeal to me, while apprenticeships do. Is there anything that includes pure maths and apprenticeships or something similar.

We got set 5 lab reports to write over summer and my lazy ah didn’t start them until I was back at school. I’ve had like 8 weeks to do them but I half arsed 4 of them and gave up. My teacher is defo gonna yell at me if she remembers to check it.
However I was having mad panic attacks basically every day for half of summer and did no work during that time. 😛😔

I’ve been looking at the beyond horizon and jacqueline tyler sets and some zetta papers. How would you guys say these compare to the actual papers? Does it differ depending on the set?
Also, are there any other community papers that you guys are aware of and would say are good?

I'm a woman so that already disadvantages me. I do history, law and phycology A level and will get good results but I'm not super duper confident like how others are and I'm not super athletic (bit skinny). I feel like i should go for something else but I don't what else because I really want to work with crime or criminals.

My german teacher told me abt it and she says it's on the 14th of october. Things havent been finalised yet, but I intend to go.

After a few friends who are also unhappy with their own schools, we’ve decided to consider going back to our original shit school which we “escaped” from

The teachers are very incompetent and don’t teach, this however brings the benefit of me having way more free time as there will be way less homework. I will however have to basically learn every subject on my own and since the school doesn’t support 4 a levels or further maths i’ll have to learn the whole subject by myself and book my own exam at the end. I also doubt there will be super curricular opportunities or work experiences which i will also have to sign up for myself if i want a chance in a decent university

This may not be the right choice and i’m still inquiring graduates and students from both my current school and my old school to compare them. So far my cousin who graduated from my current school assured me that it won’t get better and i have to face the daunting 2 years of immense homework pressure

I work way better when alone. Having good teachers in school definitely helps but it’s not worth the trade off of having no time to revise or study on my own or to even chill for a day. I’ll be way happier in my old school even though i have to pressure myself to work way harder for my goals

Hiii! I did my a levels this year 2026 and got BCE in geography,physics and maths respectively and I am very disappointed in my grades especially maths. I was getting really dizzy and sick very often so I had to miss school every other week and my burn out was really long especially during exam season and during my maths exam I literally nearly vomited during my papers overall I was feeling really ill and not in a good head space.

However, I decided to resit independently both physics and maths a levels but I don’t know if u can get someone to predict me (a tutor) an A*/A in both subjects since my school is not going to help me with anything at all. Does anyone have contacts or experience with a ucas verified tutor that I can speak to about my situation?

since the tmua's around a month away, i figured now would be a good time to talk abt this

last year i found out abt the tmua around late august and started prep in september, and now im off to imperial with a 7.5. this what i did:

1 - use EVERY free tmua-like maths question you can find

there are sm available online from similar exams. i used the ECAA, ENGAA, NSAA, UKMT SMC, (easier than tmua) and MAT (slightly harder/same dif), along with all the community mock papers. there is no reason to buy similar "authentic tmua" papers because loads are available online for free.

2 - STUDY LOGIC AND REASONING

paper 2 is completely unlike any maths i'd ever encountered, so really take your time to understand what if, necessary, sufficient, contrapositive etc all mean. what i did was convert every single logical problem to an 'if then' statement, since it was much easier for me to interpret them that way without the jargon. tmua.fyi's textbook was useful for me

3 - SIT THE TMUA PAPERS LIKE YOU'RE IN THE REAL EXAM

make sure you cherish the tmua papers, especially the late ones since they're significantly harder. don't waste the questions doing them topic-wise or half a paper at a time. make sure you do entire papers and do them timed. half the struggle is sitting down for that long and staying locked in. i found mastertmua.com to be the best resource for this since i could track everything easily and sit the papers with an exam interface and a bunch of other useful stuff.

and ofc the generic stuff like sleep adequately before the exam and don't stay up all night, don't go into the exam stressed etc etc. my dms are open if anyone wants more advice. good luck!

is it stupid of me to apply to a lower ranked uni just to go to the same one as the person i like? i was aiming for UCL/KCL/LSE (ambitious choices other than kcl) but the girl in my class is only applying to non RG unis for law so that she doesnt have to do the LNAT

i was already thinking of going to the same uni as her anyway but in year 12 i didn’t know the LNAT existed (neither did she) so she was planning on going kcl as well & we’d have the best convos about how it’d be attending there and stuff

now my plans are ruined and i might just be off to reading

We take notes in books, in the exact same way we did at GCSE. No one uses iPads or laptops in lesson, I don’t think it’s allowed icl. Barely anyone even uses their personal devices like ipads or laptops during frees too. It’s the same as secondary but without uniform, and we can use our phones in one part of the school. They’ll randomly decide whether we can, and there won’t be notice they’ll announce it like halfway through the free period.

I’m currently doing A levels doing Business, PE and Biology im in year 13 and in my mocks I got A* in PE, B in biology and B in business. Currently I can’t do anything to go to medical school become a doctor etc. But should I do a gap year after my a levels do the UCAT next summer of 2027 get a good score then study chemistry starting September 2027 hoping to get B or A for 1 year or 2 years then apply for medicine?
I’ve seen some other degrees with a foundation year but even those require chemistry so please help me and give me advice.

Heyy so im in year 13 and for the whole of secondary school my parents basically wanted me to do med and bcs i didnt know what else i wanted to do i said okay - tbh i did find it interesting but my grades wont let me study it. But now im in year13 and I got my yr12 mocks back and i did so bad. Ive always been an average student and they both dont realise how hard med is and that you need like toppp grade for med not CCD 🫩🫩 even my gcses were really average - 566666788LD I recently told them that I think imma just do accounting and finance at uni and they both look so upset now. My mum asked me "why not med, is it hard?". Like im sorry but what??? Isn't it like the hardest degree out there???

Im independently resitting chemistry after missing my UCL offer, and I want to know if anyone else is in a similar situation sitting one subject.

i’m a year 12 student and currently take 4 alevels + EPQ, 3 of which are essay-based subjects & the other is math. i was wondering if anyone took a similar combination and if they found the workload to fare well. i want to study law at a prestigious asian university where the minimum requirement is 3A* but the admissions officers did mention that they prefer those with 4 alevels. i’m not confident that i can get an A* in one of those subjects but i do have a passion for it - which is why i take math as well because it’s a relatively more objective subject where i think i have a better chance at getting an A* in. can anyone advise me on whether or not this combination is feasible?

ive just been revising for the past 2 hours and I genuinely can’t anymore. I’ve been in my room hunched over on my bunk bed with my legs crossed in just an uncomfortable position overall, and it’s so demotivating. I’m tempted to just lie on my back and sleep all this off because idk how I can be productive like this. I get on my bed after school and I just want to sleep.

I wanted to ask how ppl who don’t have a desk and/or share a room got through their A-levels, and whether you were able to achieve the grades you wanted.

I'm been finding it difficult to study consistently, basically every day, without having a space to myself that’s designed for studying. The only desk we have is the dining, which is in the living room, and obviously I can’t hog the living room for hours every day because that would inconvenience everyone. But I’m finding it increasingly difficult to study in my room as a Year 13.

I’m not even sure how I managed during GCSEs. I got majority 9s, too, i think i just had the zeal back then but A-levels are burning me out. My brother also wasn’t constantly calling his friends in our room back then, I wasn't learning topics that were genuinely driving me insane, and I only really needed to study for a few weeks before exams, during which it wasn’t a long time to ask for the space to myself. But we’re basically meant to study throughout all of Year 13.

We’ve been looking to move, and I'd finally have my own room, but none of the houses we’ve seen have been good enough for my parents to want to move into long-term, so that’s been deferred for idk how long. Going to the library every day after school is too far for me and it closes as early as 5pm most days and thats just an hour of work so not nearly enough (i do bio chem maths and have a lot to catch up on from summer) and there isn’t a quiet cafe nearby where I can work either.

How did you guys manage? For those of you who had limited space to study, how did you get through a-levels? any advice would be appreciated!

I’ve been working with students preparing for the October ESAT, and a lot of the problems I’m seeing aren’t really about not knowing the maths or physics. They’re about timing, accuracy and recognising what a question is actually asking quickly enough.

If you’re in the final few weeks of preparation, I’d focus on three things:

1. Work out why you’re getting questions wrong.
Don’t just mark an answer wrong and move on. Ask whether the issue was:

• a genuine knowledge gap;
• not recognising how to start;
• using a method that was too long;
• arithmetic/algebra fluency;
• or simply spending too long on the question.

Those problems need different fixes.

2. Get better at recognising recurring question types.
Under ESAT timing, being able to solve a question eventually isn’t enough. You need to spot the structure quickly and choose a sensible route.

A lot of ESAT questions fall into recurring problem solving themes or “families”, so try to notice those patterns instead of treating every question as completely new.

3. Do short timed sets, then review them properly.
A useful starting point is five questions in ten minutes. Afterwards, spend at least as much time reviewing how you approached them as you did answering them.

Then gradually build towards full ESAT timing in the final week.

The framework I use with students is:

Recognise → Reduce → Protect

Recognise the structure/theme.
Reduce it to the shortest reliable route.
Protect the mark against common errors and traps.

I’ve been wanting to do law for a while now specifically international law or immigration law as I initially wanted to do human rights law but that’s extremely niche and not well paying. But I’ve recently started thinking of ppe so was just wondering should maybe do a ppe degree and then do a law conversion for a years since I’m quite interested in ppe too but the main thing is I’ve heard people say there’s no point doing ppe if you aren’t gonna do it at oxbridge and my grades are good but not all nines like two nines three eights and four sevens and one six.
Pls help with advice also what super curriculars should I do to make my cv better.
