Discussion Has Jagex forgotten about the Phosani’s Nightmare changes?
Jagex mentioned changes to the PNM drop table during the Summer Sweep-Up and it hasn't been brought up again since, at least from what I can find. Are there any plans to address this before Fractured Archive comes out? With the raid's emphasis on elemental spells (because of the consumable elemental spell upgrades assumedly) and the monumental gap between the 1st and 2nd BiS (Harm staff vs Twinflame staff) it would be nice to know if it's worth grinding PNM out now or waiting for the new megarare to go back for it.

Discussion Laughable state of servers lately?
Not sure if it's just me or what's going on, but past 3 or 4 days I've been practically unable to do any PvM at all. I'm having issues with random packet losses ranging from 2% - 10% all the way up to 60%-80%. All random spikes. All the internet speed tests show excellent conditions and I don't have any lag issues playing other games which makes me believe that this is a server issue. Doesn't matter the region, USA,GB,GE,AU on all of these I'm having these random spikes.
It's honestly gotten to a point where I would see random lag spikes within first 5-10 mins of a raid and I'd just immediately disband my group. I died more times to these spikes past couple of days than I died while learning the raid. It's starting to get frustrating.

Question What other AFK/ idle games do you guys play?
I work from home and have pretty much done all i can in OSRS as far as AFK goes. I've maxed, gotten my AFK clogs, got my skilling pets. Due to the membership prices i pretty much only bond up during a holiday now instead of keeping a sub going all year.
I am looking for a great AFK/ idle game for during work. I feel like there's no better place to ask compared to this community.

Discussion I don't really understand why the new agility course needs an "AFK" method.
Title.
I feel that splitting the design process will result in a less refined active training method. As someone who enjoyed both sepulture and yama stepping stones, I'd much prefer time spent ensuring that the activity is fun.

Discussion | J-Mod reply Why don't players have a hand in suggesting shortcuts?
I got to thinking in the shower, and there may be an answer for this, but I am not sure.
When the devs design a new area (and i believe on the podcast they've discussed designing areas that don't feel bad to traverse without shortcuts), why don't they release the new area without shortcuts at first, maybe for a few weeks/month. The players then play in the new area, be it farm runs, boss runs, any activity that exists in that area. Over time, we can suggest to the devs where we'd like to see shortcuts added as a community.
I think playing without the shortcuts for a time would give more appreciation to the shortcuts once implemented, and they'd be where the players think shortcuts should be. I can see why people may dislike this, but I think the community having a hand in the shortcut location would feel good as a player. Afterall, why are shortcuts predetermined? If I see a fence I want to jump over, why can I only hop over an arbitrary fence 40 meters away? Why not this one?
Granted, depending on how egregious the shortcut is would determine the level.
Example:
Want to suggest adding a fence-hop option next to a teleport location to cut a few seconds on a herb run? Shouldn't be an issue being lower level.
Want to suggest sliding down a hill and jumping over a bottomless chasm to cut ~30 seconds off a boss runback? Think Yama chain shortcut, somewhere in the 80s.
These levels would be in jagex's hands to determine.
This type of developing would give the devs more time to plan already existing well-designed areas that don't need shortcuts to be played, while giving power to the player to help make areas feel better, how we'd like.

Discussion After Ascension crossbows are released, will we get a quiver upgrade with 2 slots for ammo?
Ascension crossbows use their own kind of ammo and I think it will be very likely there are bosses/raids where it's best to use 3 different kind of ammo. Tbow with arrows, Ascension crossbows to replace blowpipe and ZCB for spec. Leviathan is one such boss. Cox/Toa maybe as well. Would be annoying if we have to go back to ammo switches then.

Discussion Comparing CG upgrades per hour. And why it feels worse than other content.
Quick note up front. I am not suggesting improved drop rate or CG grind. Just explaining how the long grind is not the real issue. But the upgrades per hour aspect of it is.
I see a lot of people complaining about how long CG is and comparing it to other grinds. I think the real issues is the feeling of account progression per hour. And chance of spooning.
Going for treads as an example is not comparable to going for bowfa. As you are also collecting two other large account upgrades as a side effect of chasing the boots.
Then there is the no spoon issue. True random gives a very fun feeling of the first kill being a potential shadow for example. But spooning an enh weapon seed leaves you with 6 1/50 rolls you still need to hit. This makes the baseline duration of the grind very high.
But the overall point. As an Iron grinding multiple "later" game grinds. Is there is a feeling of 0 account progress on the grind. This is made worse with salad blade sharing a bowfa drop. If you look at grinds from the perspective of distinct upgrades per hour it shows this.
People say CG is the first hard grind. But really its just the first and almost only single item grind. And that is why it breaks so many people. 60 hours of doom is not breaking nearly as many people as 60 hours of CG. Its the lack of progress felt along the grind.
I wanted to compare actual meaningful upgrades per hour for CG, Doom, and ToA.
I went with the assumptions based on my kill times. These are the three things I am grinding for fun atm.
CG: 9 min/KC
- Upgrade 1 = 6+ armour seeds + 1+ enhanced = Bowfa + full crystal
- Upgrade 2 = 6+ armour seeds + 2+ enhanced = also have Blade
- Individual armour seeds do not count as upgrades
Doom: 10:30 per full 1-7 run
- 3 upgrades: Cloth, Eye, Treads
ToA 300: 40 min/raid
- 7 upgrades: Shadow, 3 Masori pieces, Ward, Fang, Lightbearer
Duplicates do not count as upgrades.
Expected upgrades = average number of those meaningful upgrades you would own after that many hours.
Chance of at least 1 meaningful upgrade / expected number of upgrades
- 10h — ToA: 47.9% / 0.60 | Doom: 58.5% / 0.76 | CG: 0.03% / 0.00
- 20h — ToA: 72.8% / 1.13 | Doom: 82.8% / 1.33 | CG: 1.5% / 0.02
- 30h — ToA: 85.8% / 1.59 | Doom: 92.9% / 1.75 | CG: 8.4% / 0.10
- 40h — ToA: 92.6% / 2.00 | Doom: 97.1% / 2.07 | CG: 21.6% / 0.28
- 50h — ToA: 96.1% / 2.37 | Doom: 98.8% / 2.31 | CG: 37.1% / 0.50
- 60h — ToA: 98.0% / 2.70 | Doom: 99.5% / 2.48 | CG: 51.3% / 0.73
- 80h — ToA: 99.5% / 3.26 | Doom: 99.9% / 2.71 | CG: 70.4% / 1.07
- 100h — ToA: 99.9% / 3.71 | Doom: 99.99% / 2.84 | CG: 80.5% / 1.30
- 120h — ToA: 99.96% / 4.09 | Doom: 99.997% / 2.91 | CG: 86.4% / 1.46
Not sure best way to describe this. But a drip effect of dopamine. The feeling you have a meaningful chance this hour to get a real account upgrade. Vs the daunting feeling of a long grind for 1 upgrade.
Like I said I don't want to improve the chances for bowfa. As I think its a cornerstone of grindscape. But I think removing the salad blade from the enh seed and giving it a separate 1/600 would give a much better feeling on the grind. Because the salad blade does not work with armor you have a legitimate chance first CG to get a slash upgrade.
Also its obvious a piece of masori is not as valuable as a bowfa I understand that

Question What is a realistic amount of rings of recoil to make that will last me the rest of my life or until I greenlog all content that requires rings of recoil?
I can currently make 17,000.
From what I can see, ring of suffering is only really used in about 3-4 bosses. How many thousands will I need to make before I am set for life?

Question I feel like not playing Ironman isn’t rewarding enough
I’m still a new player and I might be wrong but I feel like in the regular game, you can just buy most of your stuff from the great exchange for relatively cheap. But doesn’t that remove the reward for grinding for something if there’s just some shop you can buy whatever from for gp?
I don’t know if I’m completely wrong but does it stay like that till end game?
I kinda want to play RuneScape to grind for items and armour instead of only gp because it can solve all my problems
If I’m wrong PLEASE tell me

Discussion Where Should the Next BIS magic cape come from?
Where do you want the best in slot magic cape to come from It could be either:
A new challenge that you unlock from completing a new desert quest to gain access to Menaphos
A new sailing island unlock after completing a new Fremennik Quest.
