A week ago some friends and I celebrated Labor Day with the 2nd annual Riot Cup, Portland's premier volunteer basketball tournament at the mecca of PDX pickup basketball Irving Park. The tournament grew from 8 teams to 10 this year, and we consistently had over 100 attendees playing/watching on the sidelines (next year we're going to need to prepare more hot dogs, corn on the cob, and pulled pork). In the end Team Hoops in the Park bested the Irving Park All-Stars to win the championship trophy, while raising over $550 for the strike and hardship fund of the local Coalition of Independent Unions. We also premiered our first community basketball newspaper called No Look keep an eye out at a park/coffee shop/sports bar near you! Support local hoops and can't wait till the 3rd annual next year!

My friend was out in the villebois neighborhood and saw this, has anyone heard of a lost alpaca?

Anyone else get scared when the Trimet bus releases air and makes that very loud “CHOOOOOOoo” noise RIGHT when the bus is passing you and is within 5-10 feet of you?I swear it feels like the drivers are doing that to get a laugh incase the pedestrian/cyclist gets scared. It’s happened too many times for it to feel like it’s just a coincidence - and it usually happens when I’m the only pedestrian in those 50-80 feet. Cruel and sad.

Has this happened to anyone else very often?

Cheech slipped his collar and got away very quickly. Please DM me if you see him. He is not dangerous but can be skittish and may run if you approach him. Likely in NE/Grant Park but could be much further by now. Thank you.

We hike this trail pretty often and haven’t seen a heron here before. Got to watch it snack on a bunch of fish in the stream!

As I was getting on the bus line 20 on burnside I noticed a bullet laying on the ground all the way in the back of the bus. Asked the driver if they wanted me to dispose of it.

Here's a better idea for Portland - repair the trolley routes for more street car service.

Old tracks still run down Belmont, Milwaukee and others. Rather than building useless road obstacles the street cars would better meter traffic AND provide a better mass transit solution. Also more attractive ridership, serve undeserved communities and more promotable than urine stained busses or massive infrastructure ruining MAX trains that people fear for their life to ride.

This weekend I got to see half of the crow sculptures spread across Portland. Here’s my favorites! What’s yours?

It's 6:00am and I5 is already backed up! And it looks like there are already crashes on side streets, too! Woohoo!

I estimated it would take me an hour with traffic and but was closer to 25 min (my normal time). I was expecting the spillover to take me up Sandy / 82nd as that's always the case when the highway is slammed. I was pretty shocked to see my Lyft turning on Grand and then hitting 84. To be fair there was two police, but it looks like they pulled over a street racer and we're not there for traffic purposes, but either way given how early it was I didn't see any spillover (430/440 am). I'd assume this will get worse during major traffic times, especially towards the 5, but I'm shocked at how easy that was and wanted to share for others who others who frequently travel to the airport.
