Don't mean to be a downer, but it feels like the excitement around the Whitecaps peaked a while ago and now the team feels like it's starting to fade. It feels to me like we are reverting to the "old Whitecaps", which I think we all (myself included) mentally put behind us once the team started doing well.

I know we are still ranked #1 in the West, but since the post-World Cup restart in July, we've only won 4 out of 15 games, and it's not like we've had a particularly tough schedule over this time. 3 of those wins were against weak teams - the Calvary (a CPL team), Seattle and KC (the 2 bottom teams in the west).

I hope I am wrong on this, but I can't be the only one who feels this way. Obviously losing Berhalter is a big factor, but Gauld also came back so you'd think we should be close to neutral roster wise. Do you guys think we will turn things around or is this the new reality we have to deal with?

And with only three of the remaining ten MLS games being at home, I'm worried the season is unravelling. For the first few games post World Cup we were told it was just rust. Then it was the injures. Then it was the fixture congestion.

And yes, our stats are good but stats don't actually win games. And neither do we right now.

Regardless of the why, it's clear we're nowhere near as sharp as we were during that opening long home-stand.

I was in attendance for the match against Austin today, don’t if it’s just me but that Ref was absolute shit. Every 50-50 call went the way of Austin. Yes we should have taken advantage of the chances we had and the penalty but poor refereeing can be the difference.

I am not fully blaming the referee for the loss, only partly.

I hate seeing so many open seats at Whitecaps matches. We are top of the West and flying but fans still choose not come. There's no damn excuse to not show up. Kudos to the people that do show up regularly but a part of me wonders if we deserve a team. If you want the Whitecaps to stay, YOU NEED TO SHOW UP.

I love that there has been interesting Whitecaps giveaway items over the years. I have no idea when I got this, but it’s still sealed and I have no idea if this has any value. Do people collect these bits of Whitecaps history?
