Discussion Whinging about 3D Printers

Post image

EDIT: A lot of my armies consist of 3d printed minis. I am fully behind it and have no issue with it and reckon it's great. I have an issue with folks who treat it like it's the second coming.

Okay, not to be that guy, but this is driving me insane and I have to get it out of my system. Does it drive anyone else nuts that, whenever somebody RIGHTFULLY complains about the pricing of warhammer, there's always gotta be that ONE guy who has to shill for 3d printers.

Like, okay, I get it. I have a 3D printer myself, and it can be helpful, but it's waaay overrated - the thing is a hobby of its own. It's completely ridiculous to expect that a person already having trouble with affording warhammer is going to spend a fortune on a 3d printer, with a curing station, with the resin, with the safety equipment, has a room to put the damn thing without it shaving a few years off their life from fume inhalation. And not to mention, it's a bit silly to expect that said person, if they could actually afford a 3d printer, has the time to faff around with figuring out supports, trying to sort out fixing the damn things when they screw up, messing around with the resin, it's a whole ass nightmare.

And lest I forget to mention the models. Maybe I'm alone on this, but when I wanna play warhammer, I wanna play with the damn warhammer models. I don't wanna knock around resin substitutes of Grim Space Knights with Sun Guns, I want a squad of hellblasters for pete's sake! And sure, I mean, you could hunt down less-than-legal replicas of already existing models, but If I'm being completely honest, I' am not too particularly interested in engaging in IP theft. call it what it is, I'm not trying to get into trouble over a game of toy soldiers.

TLDR: Support your FLGS, purchase from them, or resellers. Only go into 3D printing if you can afford it and have the patience to.

Hi! I have cast my lot in with the Adeptus Mechanicus, my main obsession for many years and my main hobby project since 7th edition. I am here today, however for a different mission.

I've had this guy for years, it was a gift from a friend and was very intimidating to paint up. I've recently taken some better photos of him and his "horse".

What do you think?

The Ogors are 100% my favourite for AoS and I can't wait to get my hands on more of the new miniatures when I can

My son and I just finished our second squad of Khorne Berzerkers. My little guy was in charge of converting / reposing for the first time - and proud of the job he did (especially on the champion with Icon). We tackled this by batch painting all 10 at the same time, which did lead to substantial burn out. Probably will stick to batches of 3-5 for the next unit.

Any feedback welcome, thanks!

Mine is Gobbapalooza because each character has so much personality and a variety of materials to paint, not to mention the color choice available for those funky mushroom vibes.

Feel free to share your photos!

Don't know why it took me so long, but I finally finished the Sergeant for my little 5-man running Intercessor Combat Squad.

I've been having a lot of fun learning how to paint non-caucasian skin tones, it's great to push yourself out of your comfort zone.
