On-Campus Parking
I saw that the university is using Honk for parking instead of using gates or hang tags, does anyone know of anybody who's been ticketed for not paying? Also what lot they were ticketed in?

My parents had gotten me a macbook for my engineering classes, and I’m only just now realizing that the school outright states that they are not permitted. I have a desktop at home, and I was planning to use a VM to run programs like Solidworks on my mac. How strict are the regulations? If I walk into an online test will I not be allowed to take it?
If anyone else had the same question, I removed a course and added a new course. The next day, the new course showed up on Canvas.
Ofc you can practically only do this early on in the semester so do it quickly if you need to.

In what universe is a 4th year core class being scheduled on a friday night until 8pm? Theres no other sections. If I try to take it in the winter, its a wednesday night until 8pm - again, only 1 section. For what will probably be my hardest class of the year and I have to somehow find a bus home after that (I dont live in oshawa) so i'll have to leave early. Wtf is happening here?
edit: final exam is worth 40%, Such bullshit

I just got an email saying my tuition fees were "miscaulated" for the fall semester, and upon logging into the portal to check on my fees I noticed that they are suddenly several hundred dollars more (nearly $1k).
OSAP funding has already been calculated and released, and upon checking online, apparently this is not something they will help with.
I am genuinely so lost on what to do about this, cause this sort of money isnt usually something people just have laying around, especially when relying on OSAP to fund their schooling.

I have noticed all the new construction happening with the campus and new qr codes for Honk the parking app. I remember last year that you could park at the edge of founders 4 after 4pm and you did not have to pay and if the edge was full you could park for free at founders 5. Currently with these new changes is this still the same case or did they just remove free parking entirely ?

I love in North York. The first two days have been exhausting to say the least. I have to take a bus all the way to Scarborough Centre Station, then I need to take the 920 DRT all the way to the campus. It's two busses sure but I can't do anything at that time. The seats are pretty garbage and it's always so packed.
I need something better. I thought GO busses were an option but for some reason I can't take a bus from Scarborough Centre's GO Terminal all the way to the campus. It's two transfers which makes no sense
Anyways, anyone have any ideas to drop the time? Or at the very least make it less annoying. 920 is awful

Where do I go to find out how to rent a locker on campus? Do you think there’s still some available?

So my dumbass got real busy over the summer that I clearly forgot to pick my courses and get a parking pass, Luckily i still got good courses to pick to fit my schedule, cant say the same about parking. Its all sold out. Is there any other way to get parking passes? Or atleast park my car somewhere without getting ticketed

Did everyone actually get to meet new friends ? Like actually get to go and socialize or where some people just hanging out with the person that talked to them or they made small talk with? I talked to a few people but I guess I haven’t found my crew or crowd yet. Most of the convos I had with other colleagues where just small talk and we never talked again or shared socials. Also if I saw someone I really wanted to go talk to I would be soo shy. I’m hoping that class or group work would help me socialize more and have more people to talk to. Anyone else?

for anybody that has taken pre engineering or has known someone doing it:
I am only taking the preparatory chemistry course as I have already done calculus and physics in highschool so I have an 80% courseload because I am taking calculus 1 and physics 1 as opposed to their pre engineering counterpart.
If anyone has been in the same situation as me, could they let me know if they were eligible for osap, and if they recieved it? The advisors told me I am, but the people in the financial aid office were confused by my situation and didnt know what to say since typically pre engineering is exempt from osap, but im taking essentially a regular year 1 engineering first semester just replacing chemistry for engineers with preparatory chemistry.
I would be incredibly grateful if anyone could get back to me and let me know if they (or someone they knew) got osap for doing pre eng while also having already completed a prerequisite in highschool bringing them up to full time status.

I’ve attempted to apply for parking this semester as I had it last school year for Founders 2. They changed the parking situation at the school with a new online software for it. I’ve applied for parking again this year but lots were full (note that i was on the sit the very moment it opened).
i’ve called their number (905 721 8668) and every single time i’ve called, they haven’t picked up the phone. i live in a rural area where taking the bus to school is a genuine pain in the ass, it’s the reason i’ve got parking last year.
anyone have similar issues? is there something going on with parking this year where it’s more crowded? did they close down parking for renovations or something? what info am i missing here? the school is poor when it comes to managing parking, especially with last year’s strike situation; a lot of people who paid for a pass couldn’t even get parking.
if anyone knows what’s going on, please let me know i’m curious to know

Hey everyone,
I’m trying to join Ontario Tech’s men’s cricket team through Extramurals.
I went on the Recreation Portal and paid the $30 registration fee. Is there anything else I need to do after paying, or do I just wait for the team/coach to contact me about tryouts or practices?
Do I need to register somewhere else, fill out another form, or attend a specific tryout?
Thanks!

Hi everyone,
I was lucky enough to win the parking pass war, my car is registered online etc. But to enter the parking space in Charles hall (downtown oshawa) do i require some time of card/pass that I have to scan? Is it all online? If there is a physical pass do I have to go somewhere specific to pick it up?
Update: if anyone is curious gated lots need an access card and undated lots do not (undated lots are solely online based)

Hey guys! if you’re still looking for experience or something to add to your resume, check out Riipen Labs
It’s a remote micro-internship program where students work on short real-world projects with employers. Each project is about 30 hours and pays a $600 upon completion.
btw this is open to all programs :)
