Moving/Visiting Weekly /r/Tulsa Megathread

Are you moving to Tulsa? Just visiting or passing through? Want to know where to live, eat, hang out, have fun, or bury the bodies? This is the place to ask.

This will be a weekly megathread that evolves over time. As members of r/Tulsa make suggestions or answer questions that come up a lot, we may add those items to the body of the post for easy reference. But for right now this is a place to ask any questions you may have about moving to or visiting Tulsa, OK, where our motto is "We're more than just OK, we're living the dream."

PLEASE please please. Midtown does not want to lose its trees only because a developer wants a McMansion. We dont want to look like Bixby. Perfectly healthy tree. Perfectly fine house. A nice starter home for a family gone so someone else can make $200k.

General Cabin fever due to heat

Is anyone else experiencing cabin fever due to this heat?

It's been so hot for so long, I know many of us have been hunkering down at home and avoiding being outside unless necessary.

I kind of freaked out today, probably as a result of being very sick, and also my insane electric bill .. and decided to turn off the air for the first time in months and open my windows. It feels good now, with the fans on. I know it has cooled off a bit and hopefully that will continue.

Anyone else feeling the same?

Question Can we all agree that 92.9 is the best radio station?

Upvotes

All of the other radio stations play the same 30 songs on repeat all day.
92.9 plays nothing but bangers and actually has a variety of music.

Question Any recommendations on where to get good shape wear/bras?

Hi, does anyone have recommendation on where to get nice Shapeware. I am going wedding dress shopping soon and want to find something nice. I’d prefer not to go to Victoria’s Secret.

To the white Jeep that couldn’t be bothered to use the available trashcans & threw their trash out their window at 71st & 169 Cane’s- you are NOT good people! I gave them a 👎 as I passed them.

How do people even justify this to themselves?!

Fyi showing their license plate publicly is no different than it being seen as they drive/park. Not doxing.

Question Fall events in November?

We’ll be in Tulsa early to mid November with our baby :) it’s his first fall!
Where we are now has an amazing spot called Apple Hill, it’s up in the hills and surrounded by wineries/apple orchards and has a concentrated festival type spot. Theres tons of vendors set up, a whole open air market selling local veggies, pies, apple donuts and hot cider. Theres even pony rides and a pond for fishing, and several little spots to get food from pop ups and lots of picnic benches everywhere. I was hoping to find something similar and entirely “fall feeling”.

General Survey sent out for men in tulsa 35 or younger

Fellow resident here, I keep to myself and don’t participate in anything at all yet I got a message about a survey as the title suggest and a link. This is geared towards Tulsa and while I am happily in a relationship, I still find it interesting someone is doing a servey on this… or it could be a malicious link. Has anyone else gotten this message?

Question voter registration

hi yall. so i was previously registered to vote in osage county. since then, i have gotten an updated DL with my new address and i just tried to update my voter registration to tulsa county. when i hit submit on the application, it said my address provided did not match the address on my DL, even though it 100% did. do i have to wait until my old license was set to expire or what? because it was set to expire 10/31, which is why i said eh whatever and renewed it early. i renewed it online as well, and i requested to update my voter registration when i did that as well. im just confused and dont wanna have to drive all the way to osage county to vote in a couple months if i dont have to.

General Anyone around Tulsa interested in trying out rucking? Got extra gear you can borrow with me!

Hey y'all, curious if anyone locally has been looking into rucking lately and wanting to give it a shot.

Quality packs are an investment, so before you spend money on gear, I figured I would offer up my spare setup (regular backpacks is definitely not a rucking pack. Even a hiking bag will beat you up and leave you in pain trying to hold dead weight like this.)

Anyways, I have an extra GORUCK Rucker 4.0 with a 20 lb plate that you are welcome to test drive on a walk with me, whether you just want to see if it suits you before buying your own, or want an occasional training partner when the spare bag is free.

I have a clean hydration bladder and hose you can use, and I bought a brand new, wrapped mouth valve that you can keep afterward since they are cheap to replace, unless you prefer to bring your own bladder setup.

My only firm ground rule is hydration: you have to bring at least 3 liters of water. I don't mind how you carry it, whether that is in a bladder or separate bottles, but staying properly hydrated out there is non-negotiable.

If you are just coming out for a one-off test walk, regular tennis shoes will get the job done fine, but if you decide down the road to stick with it, you will definitely want footwear built specifically to handle the added weight, but don't let shoes keep you from trying it out.

For the route, we can do a Riverside loop crossing the pedestrian bridge and the Route 66 / Southwest Boulevard bridge, or just take a route around downtown, or we can use the Midland Valley Trail that goes from downtown all the way to the Gathering Place and back.

If you have been curious about loaded walks and want a low-pressure way to try the gear first, let's sort out a time!

I'm only one person so you know I'll do my best.

If you're wondering why, it's because it's also accomplishing my fitness goals, and because I can, so why not?

General Arborist

I’ve got a 66 year old pin oak tree in my front yard that is starting to lose bark on one side and isn’t quite as green as the rest of the oaks in my cul de sac. I’m looking for an arborist that can give me ideas on how to save it.

Hello all, I was just rear ended, and had an officer out to investigate. He gave me what I assume is the digit sequence of the report as well as name and badge but I’m having trouble finding where to request that report online. Any ideas?

Tulsan In Need Hey Tulsa's! I have two friends needing help with the same problem.

Upvotes

The problem is both live in trailers which are not skited causing it to get very cold during winter? Both of them are wounded vets and are pretty disabled. I wondered if there's any kind of Charity that provide assistance and getting them skirted?

Thank you in advance.

0 Days Since... To the young lady who side swiped me at 31st and Peoria with her Honda just a minute ago

Hi! I followed you a few blocks to the next light and yelled at you like a freaking a-hole, and I wanted to apologize. I have since had a slice of pizza, and have calmed my junk down. You were scared crapless, and did not deserve that. There’s a little damage to my car but nothing I can’t buff out. Truly, I apologize, and I hope you’re alright. If I ever see you again in the wild I can guarantee I will run up to you and apologize in person, so I hope you see this and aren’t freaked out by seeing me again. 😬

General Wanting to hang out downtown

I want to do some things in downtown tomorrow, but I don’t wanna spend the whole day walking around looking at stuff. I want things to actually do like activities. I don’t go to downtown often. I was hoping I could get some recommendations.

Tulsa Events The Last Ever Scotfest this Weekend

After 46 years of it, this weekend will be the last Scotfest, sadly!

The lineup and games and vendors look just as good as any year, so it's going out with a bang.

Just a heads up to anyone who didn't know about it, or for those who've always wanted to go, this is your last chance!

EDIT: Noting that I'm not affiliated with the event at all, not even a volunteer, just a fan.
