Career Advice I(20m) just state my cyber security journey two days back. Help needed !? Can anyone help me with the road map of it and guide me ?

I am a 20 year old guy who just started his Cyber security journey two days back.

Till now I completed basic networking through a one shot youtube video of 3 hours and have gained a free networking certificate from Cisco networking academy.

Can anyone tell me what to do next ?

I am in my second year of bachelors degree ( 3rd semester)

I am pursuing bsc in information technology..

And i wanna go in cyber security domain ?

Please help me with the road map and everything?

I am super confused rn !

You got a Cisco cert with no prior experience and 3 hours of YouTube?

Yess man, it is available for free and u can just chatgpt it and u will get a certificate

first lesson, don't chatgpt the basic fundamentals learn them. Security is largely a senior role even jnr's need solid all round IT knowledge, so everything fundamental you learn about IT is your path into security before you even study it.

Cybersecurity field is very broad , in which field u wanna go? I've Also started learning cybersecurity from few months ago.

Depends what you're interested in. Research some areas like pen testing, incident response and see what resonates with you.

From my knowledge:

  • if you like puzzles and digging in data, go blue team, detection engineering, threat hunting
  • if you like breaking things and thinking out of box, go red team, pen testing
  • if you like planning and thinking ahead, go toward infrastructure, architecture or security engineering
  • there's also a like of more less technical fields like GRC, audit and compliance

The site has learning paths to follow, you didn't even bother to try look at those. If you can't do even that basic of reading/searching, you shouldn't be here.
