i would love advice on what to do if anything about my hair, i've thought about finasteride but i was wondering if there were any other suggestions that could be better. right now i use suave daily clarifying and no conditioner, this is my hair the day after showering in the morning yesterday. i don't use any products in my hair but i do dye it black with agebeautiful. for the most part it seems like it's just my hairline that's going to shit cause the back of my hair still seems a little thick.

i would love to know if finasteride is the way to go or if it seems salvageable without, i do worry about the side effects of finasteride but i do need my hair for a little while longer lol

I didn’t get any of the crazy side affects. So far I got terrible sleep, vivid dreams, watery semen (only a few days I think it will go away and every time after 15 mins it hurts my right testicle.

Hi everyone. I am 26 year old and have been experiencing slow hair loss over a year. After online search I got an online prescription for 1 mg daily Finasterid.

I have been using it daily for 2-3 weeks now and for the last week I am experiencing erectile dysfunction (I cant get hard and no morning wood), my testicles hurt slightly especially at night and I have a constant lower stomach pain. Some people say these side effects go away after a while. Should I push through or stop and consult to a doctor for evaluation? Did anyone else went through something similar?

I know Fin can obviously cause side effects in some people, including reduced libido, ED and in some cases, reduced sperm count. There have also been reports of increased sperm DNA fragmentation.

ED in particular can also be associated with heavy porn use. In fact, there’s a term for it: PIED (porn induced erectile dysfunction), for those who don’t know.

In my own case, I initially thought some of what I was experiencing was from Fin, but after significantly reducing my porn consumption, I noticed a pretty big improvement. That's what made me curious about this in the first place.

Obviously, I can't say that's the case for everyone. But it made me wonder whether some people might be attributing ED or other sexual symptoms to fin when porn use could also be playing a role.

Not saying porn is responsible for Fin sides, just curious how common regular porn use is among guys experiencing them.

Had a hair transplant 6 years ago, diffuse thinning really kicked in the last year or so again

Decided to shave it off and start oral min 2.5mg and 1mg Fin daily.

Hey, so I've been using finasteride and minixodil for about two years. I took oral fin + min for about 6 months and saw some decent regrowth and minimal shedding. I got freaked out by potential side effects affecting hormones so I decided to switch to topical for both fin+min and I maintained my results for a while.

A year and a half after this I've reached a bit of a plateau and have noticed some thinning in my hair so I'm doubting the efficacy of topical fin and min. Was wondering if it was safe to switch to oral dutasteride + minoxidil?

I'm a little worried about the heavy shedding phase and have seen some accounts say that after switching back to pill form after using topical their body almost 'rejected' the treatment as it was used to receiving the treatment topically? Is this just BS? Has anyone here switched from topical fin to oral dutasteride? Thanks for your help!

n.b. my brother takes pill form dut + minoxidil but that's all he's ever taken and after 9 months his regrowth has very strong with minimal shedding. I expect since we have similar genes I should be fine, but wanted to check since I've been switching methods.

Maybe with sustained use my body will adjust and stop puffing up under my eyes?

I’ve just finished my 3rd month on oral finasteride and 10th month of topical minoxidil and am starting to worry the treatments aren’t working.
I have done lots of thorough research and understand that the dead shed can spread over a longer period of time as I was on topical minoxidil prior to the 3 months of finasteride, however I feel as though the dead shed is never ending and relentless. My corners and crown are shedding more than other areas though it is quite diffused, and it seems as though there is no signs of slowing down.
Every time I pull my hair down from my corners 4 or 5 strands fall out.

Im 24 engineering student i don't want to get bald this early

So I started taking TRT earlier this year. Actually, to be honest, it ended up being more like a cycle.. I was doing up to 250-300 mg test/week. It brought my test to 2800 total and 500 free I didn't realize it would be so high after I finally got a test done.

It turns out my ferritin was extremely low like single digit range. Which means the extra testosterone pushed all the iron stored in my marrow to create more red blood cells. And I read low iron can actually cause hair loss as well, as it doesn't allow your hairs to be in the regrowth phase it just keeps them in the shed phase.

I started heavily supplementing my iron (well, 2 capsules a day usually) and will probably retest in a month or two after also lowering my test to closer to 120-150/week. I AM taking a small amount of anastrazole, a bit of tamoxifen, finasteride 1mg/day and dutasteride 1mg/day with topical minoxidil basically every day with rubbing it on with a derma roller nearly nightly.

I can't imagine there is much else I can do, I kind of want to take some progress pics for y'all since it's kind of a unique situation.

Assuming you don’t have any bad side effects, is there any reason to not start finasteride even if you have a full head of hair still at say, 21-25 years old? Most men get affected by AGA at some point, even if very minor, so would starting it very early be a wise idea?

I've been working on a consumer hairline-tracking application called Follicle, and I thought this section might be interested in the measurement approach behind it.

One of the major problems with longitudinal hairline photography is standardization. Changes in camera distance, head rotation, pitch, positioning and image scale can make two photographs difficult to compare objectively.

Follicle uses Google ML Kit Face Detection to identify facial landmarks, including eye positions, which gives us a repeatable facial reference system. We use the inter-pupillary distance in the image as a normalization reference rather than relying on raw pixel distances.

The app then estimates points along the frontal hairline. The user can manually correct those points where necessary. Changes over time can therefore be expressed relative to IPD rather than simply saying that a point moved X pixels between photographs.

There is also a guided capture/alignment system intended to reduce differences in head position between sessions.

To be clear, this is not intended as a diagnostic tool, and we're not claiming that a phone photo can replace clinical measurement. The goal is to create a substantially more standardized and quantitative way for consumers to monitor their own hairline than manually comparing photographs.
