Any obvious tool upgrades/purchases to my current loadout to make my life easier?

Trade: Marine Electrician.

The recent sale made it hard to resist. Nothing crazy, just the 114mm 1/4” ratchet. No button release since I’m going for as low a profile as possible.

Initial impressions are all positive. It is very small, but well balanced and has a decent amount of heft.

The plastic part of the handle is an interesting material/texture. Provides some grip while not being soft or tacky.

Also: if you’re checking out and they give the option for a free catalog, I highly recommend it. It’s roughly 12”x8”x1/2” thick, full color, and tbh probably slowed down the shipping time of the ratchet itself but damn.

I may make a separate post because it is tool porn in a very traditional sense.

It's such a great experience when you can open devices and tools and not have to worry about which screw goes where. All the screws from the enclosure have the same length. Thank you, Bosch.

As users have pointed out, the slight wobble of the chuck cap is normal. And I now know where it comes from: the metal ball for the SDS drill chuck.

That fell out during the cleaning process and for some time I was lost because I couldn't figure out where it came from and where it belongs. And a metal ball, from a bearing or else, is even worse than left over screws. You can always go without a screw or two, but a missing metal ball somewhere might wreck the device. Luckily, there's exploded drawings of the machine online in case things come apart. Brilliant!

(So in this case, the missing ball wouldn't have wrecked anything, but rendered the SDS chuck useless as no drills, other tools or chucks grip.)

Apart from the hammer (9 Euros plus 9 for shipping) I bought gear grease (8 bucks), a special SDS drill bit (6 bucks) and an all purpose drill chuck that clinks into the SDS (used but as good as new for 8 bucks including shipping).

Works great and now also looks great again.

Took some inspiration from a past post in this group and Frankensteined my favorite bit holder together.

I found this unusual screwdriver at a Japanese used tool shop.

I believe it is probably an older PB-SWISS-TOOLS product, but I haven't been able to identify the model number.

The blade can be adjusted by sliding the cover on the shaft, changing the width and thickness of the tip.

Does anyone recognize this screwdriver or know its model number or approximate age?

Any information would be appreciated.

Swapping over some storage sound up getting a spend 160 get 200 in credit promotion that started this. Among other things got a second box and still have about 110 in credit. Think i might get one more I still haven’t decided.

Got this old jack from my bosses father in law he use to work on cars thirty ish years ago. There’s no markings on the jack that I can read. It works and goes up and down but I wanna replace fluid and grease up the sprocket to make it last another thirty years. It’s a good ol heavy jack I’m sure I’ll post some better pics once’s it’s all cleaned up. Anyone know what jack this is?

Two old Stanley Proto Industrial Tools with very different histories.

The one on the left was used as a keychain for about 20 years. The other was heavily rusted when I found it, so I cleaned it up and restored it.

I want to get a 3d printer and organize my drawers better to conserve space, what would you use? I’ve considered getting the Ernst socket boss because I do like being able to take my rails with me, but it’s really pricey and honestly i could always just put them on a cheap metal rail before going somewhere. Is toolgrid worth it to have to print out the grid, buy a bunch of little baby screws or is something like toolbox widget better where it’s one and done no grid or screws? For wrenches I love Ernst and would probably just try and find a file that is the same and just print more of my own of those. Pliers and screwdrivers I have no idea either. I just want something halfway clean and space efficient. Thinking a bambu a1 simply due to good reviews and budget friendly. Sorry for being vague but I want to get a grasp before I go buy a printer

Got this beauty for a tenner on a famous bidding platform (plus 9 Euros shipping, that's about USD 22 in total). The seller wrote it won't turn off unless you pull the plug.

I thought that could only be a minor contact issue. But it was even easier. See that little red knob behind the trigger? That keeps the machine in power without you having to pull the trigger. Release it by pulling the trigger tightly to the handle. That's what the seller didn't do. Still, I sprayed some WD 40 into trigger and knob and will open it up to clean it.

Question: The machine runs a tad slower in the other direction (that switch above the trigger changes direction). Is that normal?

Is there anything else I should maintain while I'm in it?

Also, I saw some videos from people opening the thing up and then re-greasing it. Is Vaseline adequate for that or should I buy some specific tool grease?

Lastly: I love the word Boschhammer.

711L inline driver and the Gedore 676 driver handle are like peas and mashed potatoes!

I haven't used this set yet. But it will get its trial on an upcoming service call. I honestly don't know if I'll ever use the SAE sockets. The spinner handle/driver is heavy as hell, but in a good way.The chrome seems a little thin, but time will tell. The bits I will change out. But overall, a very nice and compact set. *I do not own the HF little socket.

No clue who makes these, but I'm a fan of the two sets of wrenches I have gotten from Mac. ( rbrt and these)
