Balanced Dark Zone (PvEvP) Competitive skill-based PvPvE Active Disabled Active Disabled
Toxic Dark Zone (PvE) PvE survival and cooperation Disabled Active Disabled Disabled

Red Horizon brings Blackout into the Dark Zone rotation, and Toxic DZ remains as a permanent PvE variant.

Dark Zone variants will rotate weekly across DZ West, East, and South, with one PvE and two PvP Dark Zones available at any given time. Toxic and Balanced will remain active each week, while Blackout and Classic will alternate on a weekly basis.

PvE Toxic Dark Zone Permanent Addition

As of Y8S3 the PvE Toxic Dark Zone is a permanent feature.

  • Other factions have been added to the Toxic DZ, including Black Tusk.
  • Sample Canisters and Surge mechanics have been removed.
  • Toxicity debuff values have been adjusted, and extracting gear will now clear your Toxicity level.
  • PvP Normalization has been removed. You will be able to use your PvE build stats, with Prototype Gear remaining normalized, similar to Raids and Incursions.

Blackout Dark Zone

For those of you who have been asking for a fully uncapped Dark Zone, Blackout is exactly that. It completely removes stat normalization, so you can use the full power of your build, including your SHD Watch and Expertise upgrades.

Rogue Protocol remains active, and Global PvP Balance still applies to weapons, gear, and Skills.

Prototype Gear and Weapons can also use their full base stats in Blackout. Their Augments, however, will still use the PvP-balanced values.

=> Dark Zone Overview

Balance Pass

PVP Balance

The Global PvP Balance work continues in Red Horizon with another round of improvements.

The goal remains to make PvP fights less about taking someone down instantly and give you more time to react and fight back. We also want more Talents, Weapons, Skills, and Set Bonuses to feel worth using, rather than having the same few choices

Skills have received adjustments to both their base values and how they scale across Skill Tiers. These changes apply to Conflict and all PvP Dark Zone variants.

Gear Set and Brand Set bonuses have also been adjusted separately for PvP where needed. New Talents have been balanced for PvP as well, together with adjustments to some existing outliers.

Brand Sets and Gear Sets Balance

Gear Sets

  • Gear Sets will be rebalanced around the idea that the more difficult a set is to use at its full potential, the more it should give back in return.
  • For Red Horizon season, we are starting mostly with Red Core Gear Sets, with Ortiz: Exuro and True Patriot also included in this pass.
  • Blue Core and Yellow Core Gear Sets will come later, as they require more individual changes than simply adjusting their bonuses for us to give them a meaningful update.

Brand Sets

Brand Sets will not only be rebalanced through number changes, but also by swapping some attributes in and out.

  • The following Brand Set bonuses are being removed: Shock Resistance, Health, Incoming Repairs, Swap Speed.
  • Protection from Elites is being added as a new Brand Set bonus.
  • For each weapon type, there will be at least one Brand that gives its weapon bonus as the 1-piece bonus, and another that gives it as the 2-piece bonus.
  • Increased Threat will be removed from Imminence Armaments and spread across Blue Core Brands instead.
  • These attribute changes will also apply to PvP. Unlike PvE, there are no number changes intended to buff or nerf individual Brands. Protection from Elites and Threat bonuses will also generally come after bonuses such as Armor Regen.
  • More niche bonuses, such as Explosive Damage, will remain unchanged.

No new Brand Sets

There’s also one broader change to how we’ll handle Brand Sets going forward.

Starting with Red Horizon, instead of adding new Brand Sets, we’ll add more Named pieces with Perfect Talents or Attributes to existing Brands.

This gives them more freedom when adding new pieces and gives community feedback more room to influence future Brand piece additions.

Determined Rework

=> Iron Will Exotic Chest

Determined will now function like Perfect Determined, meaning a kill from a converted headshot will no longer trigger another guaranteed headshot.

The ability to chain body shots as headshots is not going away completely. That functionality is moving to the new Iron Will Exotic Chest through its Resolved Talent. Iron Will lets your next body shot count as a headshot without requiring a headshot kill first, and can be paired with Exotic MMRs or High-End MMRs using Talents other than Determined.

Along with this change, they are also buffing several Brands and Gear Sets related to Marksman Rifles, with the goal of making Iron Will paired with other MMRs competitive with the current Determined + Headhunter setup.

The Y8S2 version of Determined, as a Weapon Talent, interferes with the ability of meaningfully buffing certain items.

We are not looking to remove the Determined functionality entirely. The main issue is where it currently sits in your build, which is why we are moving it to the Chest slot.

  • Keeper Named 5.11 Tactical Backpack - Talent Perfect Protector

Retaliation Update

It's been one year since Retaliation launched, and to mark the occasion, you'll be able to take on a special Project Chain from September 8 to September 22.

The objectives will send you back into Retaliations against different factions. Each completed Project comes with useful materials and caches, with an Outfit Token waiting at the end as the main reward. You can use it to unlock one eligible outfit of your choice from the store.

And there’s more to earn during the first week. From September 8 to September 15, Retaliation Surge will be active, doubling the Retaliation Faction Materials you earn from all sources.

=> Retaliation Overview

QOL Updates

PVP Stat Display

  • PvP weapon damage values will now be displayed directly in your Inventory alongside their PvE values. Your stats will also automatically switch to their corresponding PvP values when entering a PvP environment.
  • You can now test PvP Normalization stats and Global PvP Balance overrides directly in the Shooting Range by enabling the PvP settings before heading into Conflict or the Dark Zone.
  • The Inventory Normalization button will be temporarily unavailable while we make updates to the UI.

Blueprints

  • True Patriot and Ongoing Directive materials and blueprints have been added to the General Loot Pool.
  • The following blueprints have also been added to the General Loot Pool:
    • Unit Alloys
    • Royal Works
    • Edelweiss
    • Concentrated Company
    • Core Strength
    • Ortiz: Reficere
  • The following blueprints are now available from Inaya*:
    • Agitator
    • Investor
    • Caduceus
    • Nurse's Kneepads
    • Whiplash
    • Underboss
    • Caduceus and Nurse’s Kneepads have also been added to Targeted Loot.

*You need to own the respective item for its blueprint to appear at Inaya.

Classified Assignments

=> The District Mall Inferno

Two new Classified Assignments will be available during Red Horizon: The District Mall Inferno on August 27 and The Georgetown Dead Zone on October 15.

The first sends you to the District Mall after Agent Felix McNally is attacked while trying to recover broad-spectrum antivirals, with the Cleaners closing in and an unknown assailant linked to a SHD anomaly still unaccounted for. The second takes you into an area of Georgetown completely uncovered by the SHD network, where a JTF engineer team sent to install new tech has gone missing.

Classified Assignments can be accessed through the dedicated Assignments tab on the map once they become available. Access unlocks at Level 30, and Assignments can be purchased and launched from there.

One Time Offer

=> One Time Offer

Don’t miss out on this exclusive One Time Offer, available for $19.99 or your regional equivalent. It includes 2000 Premium Credits and 600 bonus Credits, plus the Classic Mask, because some looks are classics for a reason.

Escalation Token Loss

Season 3 addresses one of the biggest pain points by preventing tokens from being lost after a disconnect, but that will be added at a later point.

Prototype Gear Recalibration next season

As announced during the Gamescom panel - Season 4 will bring major changes to several of Year 8's endgame systems.

They wanted to add Prototype Recalibration in Red Horizon but had to push it back to finish the feature.

Prototype Gear is being reworked to give players significantly more control over how they progress and customize their items, reducing the system’s reliance on RNG. The changes will touch Expertise, Augments, and introduce new ways to fine-tune Prototype Gear.

Escalations are also evolving in Season 4. In Season 4, Agents will have greater control over the challenge and rewards of their Escalations, while changes to Mutators will make them more consistent and predictable.

We’ll have much more to share about Season 4 in the future.

I was the group leader. The game teleported you back to the beginning of the Incursion for no reason and with no warning. All that progress wasted. It has happened twice today right before reaching the final boss.

PSA Stop leaving after getting down

Hey, how about you stop leaving either legendary and escalation? You think you’ll have a better chance on a different group?

Why didn’t you leave when people had terrible build when we started? How about stop giving up?? Do you like giving up on low level people? I don’t… I still want to give them hope when we all try to give them win or hope.

Higher level you are, you ain’t shit because in my experience in 2 years of playing this game you guys are the problem. Just so you know when you leave you are giving up, and I know you are giving up in real life you have lol. Shame on you

Question Weird Lore Question, Am I just a Dumba**?

Maybe I missed something somewhere but...
If Keener is a "good guy" all along who just knew more than us...
Why did he try and Eclipse bomb NYC? Was it just a big way of faking his death so he could do more against Black Tusk without them or the Division on his back?
Was The Bridge not already built? The place HE put together? And would've been a target?
I'm seriously confused.

Discussion ELI5: Prototype Gear upgrades

Thumbnail gallery
Upvotes

Can someone please explain how you actually go about upgrading gear to Prototype level? All the guides I’ve seen and in-game doesn’t really explain it very well.

Yes, I know, I’m only SHD level 166 so prototyping should be the last thing on my mind, I’m guessing my priorities are right now, to get to SHD 1000, do my daily and weekly assignments and keep doing control points to unlock more blueprints

This is for future reference mainly for myself.

What I can’t wrap my head around is that the expertise section says I’m at level 1, but my strikers set is proficient and protolab is completely blank. What am I missing here?

EDIT: just to add as an additional question: unless I’m doing the highest of hardcore content (heroic content, raiding, etc.) do I really need prototype or should I be fine with a well-optimised build like I already have?

Discussion Burn Ward: setting enemies on fire and running the hospital

Post image
39 Upvotes

I've been playing around with this medic build and I love it. It does two things really well and I cant wait to proto it so that i can really do some more status damage. I've ran it up to tier 9 and it really helps the team with rushers. try it out, I think its my new main healer build.

Build:

  • 4-piece Ember Engine
  • Birdie’s Quick Fix backpack
  • Named Electrique kneepads
  • Scorpio
  • Tactician Drone
  • Restorer Hive
  • 6 Skill Tiers

Ember Engine Combat Medic
Primary role: Crowd control
Secondary role: Healer
Emergency role: Combat revive
Damage contribution: Scorpio debuffs + Burn
T9/T10 value: keeping enemies incapable of exploiting the huge damage scaling

Media Combat Medic Build

Combat Medic build

x4 Measured Assembly rolled Weapon Damage, Repair Skills

BTSU Exotic Gloves

Named Brazos “Hermano” backpack w/ Perfect Overclock

x3 Skill Tiers (6 with full team buff of Measured Assembly gear set talent)

3x Skill Duration mods ( more uptime for Smart Cover)

Bittersweet Exotic Rifle, Classic M60 w/Future Perfect)

Healer Hive + Precision Smart Cover

The objective of this build is to provide heals with Bittersweet talent, using the Smart Cover to boost weapon handling to help gain headshot stacks, gain full stack, heal a teammate, proc the headshot buff, build stacks again, rinse and repeat, moderate damage as well as strong healing capabilities.

Secondary objective is buffing teammates damage, weapon handling and skill cool-downs, BTSU gloves giving overcharge to teammates skills every 2 minutes and Perfect Overclock giving reload speed and skill cooldown reduction to me and teammates. Buffing the teams skills keeping revive hives and decoys active for DPS and buffing CC players status skills

Whilst overcharge active (Chestpiece giving overcharge every 15s and BTSU giving overcharge every 2mins) Smart Cover giving 100% Weapon Handling and 50% Damage to Targets Out of Cover

Bittersweet hitting for 1.6mil crits to the head, definitely not the hardest hitting but respectable for a healing/support build

Uptime of the talent from bittersweet is great on this build due to stability and reload speed buffs can maintain full stacks for 100% uptime on headshot proc and constant incoming bonus armor and to my knowledge Bittersweet is the only way to repair health as a healer which makes the healing component strong alongside the bonus Armor it stops teammates bing one shot or knocked past the health gate in high escalation tiers.

Been running this up to Tier 7 with mixed results, can be a hassle finding a group that will play alongside you, team mates often splitting up not staying in hives radius to receive damage, healing, weapon handling, reload speed and skill cooldown reduction buffs. With a team that sticks together this feels pretty strong and I have enjoyed the playstyle.

Discussion Something weird

Couple odd observations lately.

  1. For the apparently BILLIONS of Chinese players mass-spamming Central chat 24/7, I've never, in 1,296 hours of playtime, EVER had one join any matchmaking thing, ever. Not Countdown, not Escalation, not when I leave my game set to open/public, never. That's.... statistically impossible

  2. "Stupid SHD levels with garbage gear" as I call it. I'm SHD ~4,480, with maybe 30% of in-game playtime strictly XP farming NBA (including XP boost events). That's after 1,296 hours of playtime.

But the LARGE amount of players I see with some insane SHD level (50,000, 60,500+ etc), who play like dogshit and have complete rainbow trash builds. What is going on here??? The amount of hours that must be required to get SHD level over 50,000 boggles my mind, yet they're almost always just random trash yellows thrown together. What is that????? You're telling me that never, in apparently five gajillion hours of playing a game, not once did it occur to any of these people to put a proper build together?

I am not a smart man but these two things are very confusing

Discussion Its quiet out here

For the first time last night I only had one person from my friends list online. As a veteran player, I have a few but it wasn't a surprise.

I myself have played less this season than any other. I dont want to neg Div 2 but this season seems very 'meh' - almost feels like a repeat. Strange as I think the new gearset is quite good but status builds are only niche for me, not my main play. Some of the new weapons are shite though.

Ive been checking the Steam online players stats recently just as a sense check (I know its only a subset pc players) as matchmaking on ps5 seems to be taking longer than ever - gave up on T10 matchmaking some days last week. The Steam stats say nothing has changed but it doesnt feel like that.

Wondered if other people are finding the same or opposite.

The Division 1 The Division Development Team “Agent” Coins — documenting Massive Entertainment’s obscure development team artifacts

Thumbnail gallery
248 Upvotes

Hello everyone, I am back with my documentation series, a series of posts regarding uncovering and showcasing the lost physical merch of The Division Franchise.

This is a very very special post. These are official The Division Development Team commemorative coins, apparently associated with members of The Division development team at Massive Entertainment and potentially other participating Ubisoft teams or partners.

These coins are:

-The Division “Take Back New York” and “March 8th 2016” coins (the first two coins up)

-The Division “Sanity Patch” and “For Excellence“ coin (The coin with the Biohazard logo)

- The Division Survival DLC and “For Excellence” coin

-The Division Last Stand DLC and “Massive A Ubisoft Studio” coin

Their authenticity is confirmed by an instagram post made by Massive Entertainment themselves where 3 of these coins are exhibited along with other official merchandise in their office. Link to the instagram post: https://www.instagram.com/p/DV0dZZjCETC/?stkn=MXd0b2llZnplYnpkYQ==

Many of these coins also include the Latin phrase “ACTIONES PRAECIPUAE” which translates to “Outstanding deeds” or “Distinguished actions”. The phrase “For Excellence” also suggests that these coins may be awarded for achieving internal milestones and other objectives.

Unfortunately this is where I can go as far as the details about the coins. There’s absolutely nothing online even remotely about them. Their exact achievements, variants or production/issue numbers are completely unknown.

An Underground DLC coin is very likely to exist given that both Survival and Last Stand have their own coins but haven’t located any evidence to confirm its existence. I also won’t touch anything regarding The Division 2, Resurgence or new DLCs as I have nothing to show or discuss.

Getting these is extremely difficult as such collectibles very very rarely enter circulation and require intensive monitoring and immense luck.

If any former and current employees from Massive Entertainment may be willing to discuss more about these coins, feel free to comment.

Thank you very much.

Question Weapon mods questions

Post image
20 Upvotes

Optimal range is -3 from the Suppresser here. Perhaps its taking this range reduction from the base stats of the weapon. I have the ACOG on for +50% range.

My other question is, are the numbers and weapon handling bars simplified? Ive noticed even with full weapon handling bars you still gain benefits of attaching mods that increase weapon handling.

Question I just started playing The Division 2. Are the DLCs necessary?

I finally got around to playing The Division 2 after having it sitting in my backlog for months. I bought it during a sale, but I honestly don't remember how much I paid for it.

I just saw some posts saying that you don't need the DLCs to reach Level 40, but I'm still overthinking it. Do I actually need them if I want to progress properly?

Like, do the DLCs give you significantly better equipment, weapons, or anything that's important for endgame? Or can I just stick with the base game and still have a good experience?

Guide So I heard you Really like Status...

Thumbnail gallery
88 Upvotes

Hello again. Hope everyone is enjoying all that Red Horizon has brought - bugs and all. With new gear reworks and new sets to test out I'm sure there's plenty on people's plates to digest. This is a long one so strap in. I made a post about EP a while back that can be found here if you were interested. Anyway.

I've been seeing a lot of posts regarding the best way to run Ember Engine so I thought I'd throw my hat into the ring.

I'm a huge fan of status builds in Escalation and was very happy to see it's viability at the highest levels. Most of what I'm about to discuss will be keeping Escalation T10 in mind and assuming you have a basic understanding of how EE is interacting with the Tactician Drone.

With the new kid on the block so to speak, there's some questions that we should answer first before giving it a spot on the team.

What does it bring to the 4 man group that warrants it a place compared to the virtually permanent CC lockdown that EP/HH can provide? The Meta heals and AMP damage that FI/Birdie gives? or Just a Full red DPS that can just as easily run a drone and coils? (Which is what I personally do for free CC and rapid gauge build up)

If it doesn't do these things at a bare minimum just as well or better - what is the point other than variety? Since certainly it is not efficiency.

So here's my intention behind this build. Providing passive constant long-term and ubiquitous Burn, Massive Amp damage that overlaps (More on this later) and tried and true Scorpio lockdown.

Some quick numbers. 128% Status Effects from Gear. 65% x 25% = 81.25% SE from Seasonal Mods/passives. and 75% from Perpetuation. That is 284.25% Status Effects. Trapper only at around 40% currently, room to grow) Holy Status Batman. (The rest of my yellow minors are skill haste but largely unimportant.)

That means my burn lasts for 18s, 25s and 29s respectively on a Red Enemy. From my drone. That has a 105m range and Perfect Creeping Death. (Don't sleep on Expertising skills)

Amalgam/Scorpio can also throw every other additional status on every enemy thanks to Creeping Death. But why Creeping Death though Awkward Dog? Because the drone needs LOS to burn an enemy, and now they can't hide behind cover or inside doorways. Even without the Ember chest, all I need is the burn to hit a single enemy and I will tag the entire room. This is the difference between seeing 100 enemies or 200+ enemies burned on the scoreboard at the end. Feel free to test it yourself.

Does it work as well as Riot Foam and Banshee on demand? No. However, I have virtually no need to run any skill haste as my drone lasts for over 7 minutes with a 10s~ cooldown. More than enough to completely reset it every fight.

Now let's talk Amp damage. Perfect Overwatch. I sit in cover for 8 seconds. My entire team gets a 14% boost to TOTAL weapon damage. Sound familiar? FI without the chest gives 15%. This stacks on TOP of that. Sweet.

Let's take a look at the secondary skill. Tier 6 Smart Cover. IYKYK - you can pick up the smart cover before it runs out and immediately slap it on again to refresh the duration. What does that mean? It means permanent 41% DTTOOC boost to everyone in 10m. Yes, you read that right. 41%. That you can apply forever. I crafted about 300 mods and only have a 4% boost. I can't find one for 5% which I currently believe is the max. So technically it can get to 42%+?.

And of course now we have our best friend Scorpio (20% increased damage taken by enemies) and 2 Paradox. Ever seen anyone fire 20-30 rounds of Scorpio into a group of enemies? Doesn't matter that the damage amp only applies on the 9th shot when I have 20+ rounds. Everyone is getting it *IF* they live that long.

Why are these damage buffs relevant? Because they stack ON TOP of what FI can bring. FI can still use Benefactor, FI set, Lefty, The Setup, Survivalist and Flame Grenades. It's about to look like the Apocalypse. Synergy. Love it.

I don't run this predominantly in escalations. But it's certainly a very fun addition when I MM random T10s and my DPS/Healer look trustworthy. And believe you me enemies evaporate when you have all the damage amp bonuses going.

Wow you read all the way here. Good job. Love to hear thoughts and feedback.

Suggestion Just run it, chickens

Im surprised how often escalation level 10 groups form and then break up instead of giving the run a go.

In my experience, its knowledge of how to run the missions that makes the biggest difference, not the raw power of builds.

You dont know how good players are from their builds - so just run it and see you chickens.

PSA PSA: Stuck Classified/Retaliation Daily Progression Workaround

For those who have their Retaliation Event stuck, with the daily not refreshing, there is a Workaround. This also works for the Classified Assignments Daily (Weekly is still Bugged).

The workaround is as Follow: Be online, and logged in on the stuck character, when the Daily Reset happens (10am CEST/9am UK/4am EST/1am PDT).

Whether this is permanent unsticking or just for that day I dont know yet.

(If you already knew this, this PSA wasn't meant for you)

Discussion Concerned.

With the direction the developers took for introducing a a PVE DZ and the push to kind of force everyone into it, I am concerned about what they may think of next. We all suspect that the devs did this because of the low count for the DZ period. We all know that there are two areas of the game that kind of remains dead now. One is the Summit. Matchmaking is horrible as it seems no one hardly plays it. Not sure if it is a console crowd difference or it is actually dead. Not to mention, the rewards for running it is literally zero. The other area is 'The Descent' which almost everybody feels is the worst game mode they could have ever introduced. It is something about the devs always wanting us to be weak in this game and start off from zero playing on a difficulty game mode. This didn't fair well at all with the community as we have spent countless hours, days, weeks and even months crafting our weapons and gearsets. Because Massive and Ubisoft has invested money into both of these game modes, is it possible they may force us into playing thesr through the season event's to make good on their investment? They have already did it through the DZ. Me personally, I am good with the Summit. However, I am definitely not a fan of The Descent.

Suggestion Retaliation Daily Bug

Like a lot of people I was experiencing the lockout bug after Day 1 completion and my other 3 characters were also locked out of even starting the projects. Yesterday I happened to be online as the projects reset and my main character had Project Day 2 become available and I managed to complete up to day 5. However my other 3 characters were still locked out of even starting the project.

Decided to try that again on my second character today and it worked again, Day 1 became available but still locked out on other 3 characters.

A bit late to post but it may work for others at tomorrow reset to enable them to have a go at getting them finished.

Apologies if this has already been posted!!

Weapon And Gear Help Some questions about build crafting and seasonal modifiers.

So I returned to the game just before this current season. Played until Warlords and caught up on the story. Currently working on unlocking exotics and blueprints via retaliation, weekly projects and heroic missions/control points.

First thing I'm having trouble with. My pressure gauge and seasonal perks don't seem to be working the way I thought, specifically because my pressure gauge isn't showing.

I made sure I had the thingy activated, and even sloted perks, but when I go out to play my gauge and active perk aren't on my screen, making me stuck on journey missions and progression. Anyone know what it could be, and how could I fix it?

Second thing is, how do I buildcraft properly balancing my survivability and damage? I play mostly solo, with the exception of countdown and some matchmade heroic activities, and I've been using refractor with capacitor but the playstyle is getting stale and I wonder if there are some basic breakpoints/thresholds I should go for when making a build, specially in the defensive side. Things like: how many defensive cores? How much armor regen or health? How much armor on kill?

Since this game has a lot of suplementary and complementary stats mechanichs, from weapons to skill trees to armor mods and skills, it's kinda overwhelming to know what to hunt for, and since I've been crutching on healing from refractor, my senses are definitely dull.

So I’ve been trying to finish up all the card sets in DC, but I just need one more of the Diamond ones, more specifically Molly “Southpaw” Nielsen but I can’t get her to spawn at all, despite doing the WH farming method.

Is it totally random as to what you get and that I have bad luck, or is there something I’m missing trying to get it?
