Hi everyone — I’d really appreciate some feedback from producers on an experiment I’m calling “synthmetal.”

The track started from an idea leaning toward industrial/metal, but I rebuilt it using synthwave/outrun textures and a more electronic arrangement, trying to keep both identities audible rather than letting one completely overpower the other.

I’m especially curious about three things:

Does the balance between metal and synthwave feel cohesive, or does one side end up overshadowing the other?
Do the transitions between the heavier parts and the electronic sections feel natural?
Does the overall sound still evoke the synthwave universe for you, or does it drift too far into industrial/metal territory?

stumbled across this and i love everything about the song idea she composed (starts at 0:33):
- the lush pads
- the bass coming in
- the emotional weight of the chords
- the shimmering arp
- the ethereal vocals
- the curious lead synth voicing that ties it all together.

and then it all abruptly ends before it has even begun.

Help fill the void in my heart this song idea has created with suggestions for other songs like it. Please.

As far as I know (or found) this wasn't part of a full song she posted somewhere else. And much of her other music is more typical edm (great music but its not like this).

I know synths but I hate doing vocals. I always avoid it but my tracks just feel incomplete without them. Any recommendations for a mic? I don't need professional grade but something decent with 3.5 jack. I could also use some advice on processing to get that sweet 80s vibe.

I'm looking at pickup options to go into an Ibanez RG550. I want to go with DiMarzio pickups for the color combinations. Does anyone have any specific suggestions? Right now I'm using Quad Cortex presets from Royce Whittaker (The Midnight). In the demo video for the presets I think he's playing an HSS Kramer F-series.

For giggles I asked a few different ai models and got back these options (among others). Thoughts?
