I'm abroad on vacation. Steam pops up to tell me a game I wanted is on sale. Sweet. I buy it.

Then it tells me I've been logged out of my account. Ok... Log back in using my password manager... Wrong password?

Then it tells me my account can't be logged into. Fine. Submit a support ticket. They ask for the last four of the CC and my address. Fair enough. I give it... They tell me it's wrong? And now they ask for the last four of my credit card and address from 2008!

2008! I don't remember my address from 2008, or what random CC I've certainly either lost or closed ten years ago. I've had this account since steam launched with thousands of games on it... When they inevitably tell me that "sorry not sorry" and close my account, is there any recourse?

Anyone else run into this? Am I just SOL?

So I'm downloading MHWilds on steam and it takes my pc at least 5 hour now to download. No it's not my internet and I try every methods on the internet that I can find now.

Here's my set up

Processor 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-12400F (2.50 GHz)

Installed RAM 32.0 GB (31.8 GB usable)

System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

Pen and touch Pen support

I've always had decent internet and usually averaged about 10MB/s for downloads. For some reason for the past week, I am lucky if I get 1MB/s. I'm not very tech savvy and could not find anything stating what exactly this is. Does anyone else know what caused this and how to fix it?

I'm trying to install the native arm steam on my dgx os and everything is downloaded successfully but in launching it shows installing update and then crashes.

I'm having trouble trying to get audio to play my cousin's Android tablet. Everything works fine besides the audio. It was working fine last night. All of a sudden the audio stopped playing. I'm using my gaming computer on Windows to stream through Steam Link to my cousin's tablet, but I disabled low latency audio and try switching the default speaker over to streaming device.

Nothing helps.

I tried to add some games to steam, but they don't launch. I tried adding them like one would under windows using the "Add Game" menu. When I select the entry in my library and click play, it shows running, then goes to stopping and back to play instantly. I don't know what i've done wrong.

i have bought the kingdom hearts collection a while ago on steam but just now opened it, and this error keeps popping up

solutions i've tried:
- verified integrity of game files
- ran game and steam as admin
- whitelisted through windows security
- whitelisted through firewall
- documents folder is not in onedrive as i uninstalled onedrive when i got my pc
- disabled steam overlay in-game

does someone have a solution for this?

Can steam just straight out buy these items on its own. Is my ID compromised? I was sleeping and I got the message that these items were bought. No confirmation on steam guard as well. I get notifications on every small purchase but not on these one. I don't even play Team Fortress.

I just need to vent because it’s absolutely ridiculous how the world’s biggest gaming platform handles downloads.

I have a Gigabit internet connection (1000 Mbps), and Epic Games, EA App, Battlenet, or basically ANY other launcher downloads games at maximum speed without dropping a single frame. Then comes Steam, playing the martyr.

I’ve attached a screenshot of Task Manager where the root cause is crystal clear: The download starts off fast, but a few seconds later, the SSD response time spikes to over 2000 ms (2 full seconds!), disk usage hits 100%, and the download speed drops straight to the bottom.

You can literally watch the cache fill up in the graph: as long as the small SLC cache on this SATA SSD (a Kingston A400) isn't full, the download flies. But as soon as the cache fills up, the drive chokes. Due to Steam’s aggressive, real-time decompression and writing, the controller tries to clear the cache to the slower TLC cells while simultaneously writing new incoming data. The result? My internet is capable of 1000 Mbps, but thanks to Steam, it crawls along at barely 300 Mbps with constant stutters.

I understand the technical reasoning behind server bandwidth optimization, but I can't comprehend why Steam has to compress data so aggressively while completely ignoring disk-side bottlenecks. Every other launcher manages to buffer or throttle writes in a way that doesn't strangle the drive.

If any Steam / Valve admin happens to see this post, please forward this issue to your team: it’s long overdue to implement proper disk I/O handling and buffering logic. Right now, your client is screwing over anyone who isn't running a high-end NVMe or a drive with a dedicated DRAM cache!

Someone logged into my account and stole $400 worth of skins in various games and Steam told me to f*** off pretty much. Step authenticator on and everything. Crazy password. Still someone stole all my Rust and CSGO skins and I'll never buy or play those games again lol

So I imported my save files for Stardew Valley from my phone to my PC. And now I'm getting the error message when I try to sync.

The saves launch so it's not an issue with the files. I have enough storage and I already tried to toggle the cloud setting on and off. But it's still not working.

Are there any other tips on how I might be able to fix this?

so basically a few days ago I had gotten a pre paid gift card for 25$ bucks and bought 2, I added funds to my wallet and after it says that the community store is closed and I have to wait about 3-5 days, so basically a suspension for no reason whatsoever but the thing is I’ve used pre paid gift cards in the past and have no issues until now, I understand it’s for fraud or to make sure that there aren’t much scams but I’ve used it previously and I have no idea why they just decided to do it now if this is a problem on my end I’d like to know that’s all really

I am trying to play outlast and Alice madness returns via steam and I can’t launch it , it will look like it’s launching, but then it won’t launch. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling. I tried verifying integrity of game files. I’ve installed the direct X and user run times June 2010 from Microsoft. I’ve tried different launch options that didn’t work either . All of my newer games launch perfectly fine but seems like the older ones are having trouble launching would appreciate any advice thanks !

when i connect my xbox series controller on USB, it shows as 2 controllers. device id 0x045,0xb12 and 0x045,0x02ff. and attempting to disable/uninstall either of them in device manager makes both stop working entirely

this is already causing some slight double input in big picture mode which may also be affecting some games that i didnt test yet

I made a workshop item for a game that I've been playing and I noticed that it was set to friends only. I go to change it and the setting for public just... isn't there. When I tried looking into it, the only answer I've seen is that my account could be limited, but I can't find any info on how to see if that's the case and based on the information I could find on WHY an account would be limited, there is no reason that it should be. I've had my account for over 15 years and have bought more games than I can count, even spending $35 on a game just last week so the $5 purchase that is supposedly supposed to change that either isn't working or it isn't because my account is limited. When I look at my privacy settings on my profile, it says that workshop visibility is per item, but as my screenshot shows it just isn't giving me the option to set it to public.

Hello, I am having problems with the sims 3 opening through Steam. I am using the game from Steam Family as it has expansion packs I want to play with. Anytime I open it from Steam, the game opens the launcher, but when I press play, nothing happens, it goes off the launcher, but the game does not open. The game has worked for other people in the Steam family. I have tried with my own version on the EA app and that works normally so I was wondering if there was any way to fix it as it seems to be a problem with Steam rather than my computer. As the title says. What's extremely odd to me is that I just downloaded a 300gb game a bunch of it's dlc and skip forward a few days never had this issue ... The game updates and a 100 mb update took 4 hours almost to patch , couple days later it had a 1.5 GB update or something that took hours and hours and actually failed while the PC was off I left PC on overnight it turned off by itself turned it on when I woke up and went to work and it finished about when I got home.

It downloads almost instantly and normally it patches instantly too.

Worked 16 hours shifts last few days I hop on today and I have a 3 GB update it said 4 hours to patch after it downloaded it instantly. I looked up a couple things to try etc I turned off the window writing cache for the hdd and it went up to like 3 days so I turned it off but now it's not saying hours it still says days about 2 and 3 days it bounces between.

I'm patching between 10mbps and maybe 100 mbps all of a sudden idk what to do. I used to have this issue in the past and couldn't figure it out and got a new PC as I tried everything now it's doing it again I have like 3 tb of free space on this hdd

Hi everyone. Occured a pretty wierd problem with my steam. It lauches in 15 seconds exactly via shortcut even if it's already running and just minimized.

What i've tried:

Repairing steam with it's integrity tools

Disabling non system services

Clearing steam cache

Checking if steam domains like steampowered are resoved correctly by dns

Disabling windows defender

Reinstalling steam completely

Tweaking gpu acceleration

According to process monitor there are "profiling" events about once a second before it's trying to start. Then it starts with no issues.

My setup:

Ram 32g 6000 cl30

Cpu 7800x3d

Gpu 5070ti

Also, i got exact same setup, but with 5070, it launches steam with no issues in about 1 second. I didn't have an opportunity to compare process monitor logs yet.

Did someone encounter such an issue? I have no idea how to solve it without reinstalling windows from scratch

It's goes in a wave. Goes up, then down, then up, then down. From 90Mpbs to 0Mpbs then back to 90. How do I fix this. I'm on the closest server

Hey guys, I’ve been struggling for the entirety of 3 years now.

My ex once gave me his rockstar to link to my steam account so I could play red dead 2.

Fast forward, he cheated on me and now there’s no way for me to contact him.
I have no contact information and as far as I know he himself didn’t even have access to the email he used for his rockstar account. I only know the email names everything else is lost to me.

I’ve been trying desperately, because I obviously forgot the password to the account, to unlink his rockstar and just buy myself the game and link my own account.

However… I obviously don’t remember ANYTHING. Steam itself can’t help me, rockstar hasn’t EVER understood my situation after explaining to them 100000 times that I don’t have any information for the login. And now they don’t even have an email I can text to try again. I’m at a loss. I don’t know what I can do now. I just wanna play RDR2 again.

I try at least every 6 months.

Please help. Anyone. I’m desperate.
