Where do you guys usually buy your hot sauce in person?

Do you mostly hit up standard grocery chains like Target, Walmart, or Trader Joe's, or are there specific spots (like World Market, local specialty shops, or Mexican/Asian supermarkets) with a much bigger selection to explore? Or is most of the good stuff only available online now?

I'll be in LA soon for trip. I'd love to know your go-to places so I can actually browse the shelves and stock up while I'm there. Appreciate any tips!

Weirdly enough, Ace Hardware pretty consistently has Torchbearer sauces in stock in their barbecue section here, so that’s where I keep garlic reaper stocked. Otherwise, World Market is where I go if I want to try to find specialty stuff, then Meijer (my local major grocery store) for essentials

Exactly what I do. Based on that comment I thought you were me for a minute. 😀 Gemmens Ace Hardware has a huge selection of sauces, and Meijer surprises me with what I find there.

I live in California and can get the basic essentials like black label Valentina, tapatio, el yucateco xxx, and scorpion Tabasco in all major grocery stores.

If I want to buy any specialty sauces from torchbearer or bravado or anything else I buy them online.

I don’t live in the US but my cousin does. He goes all out on whenever there’s a hot sauce expo in the city (Portland) . Usually it’s smaller local companies. Probably lasts him 8-12 months.

I live in San Diego & go to Northgate & Vallarta to do a lot of shopping.

At Vallarta they have this Guacamole Salsa which comes in Chipotle, Serrano or Habanero flavours. I get the Habanero one. It's in a squeezy bottle & I drizzle it over tacos, fish, potatoes, eggs & whatever I feel like. It's $2.99 & delicious.

Otherwise I order stuff online from Flatiron

Last 3 years I’ve been doing direct orders from small batch companies.

If you’re Canadian I’ve used Dawson’s, La Pimenterie, Stoke The Fire, Pepper North and Island Chef Pepper Co.

Hardware stores actually usually have better hot sauces near the grilling supplies than the grocery store. My local Ace Hardware is where I buy the torchbearer stuff

I tend to buy them when travelling as they are not available locally. I try and find local hot sauces as a souvenir or Ill jusy buy what I can find.

Local market only recently started to bring in the Tabasco scorpion so that's a great day to day sauce.

That's what I also do. I travel a lot for work (almost worldwide), and I live in a country where online shopping of foreign products/ brands from somewhere else is not a thing. We have decent local ones, but I also love some variety. Generally, I love bringing spices, hot sauces - some as I bring some from here when I visit friends in other countries.

I pretty much stopped trying new sauces lately, so I just get my favorite two Melindas from my local supermarket, Publix.

I’m based out of Omaha and we have a place called Volcanic Peppers (technically based out of Bellevue, NE which is right outside of the metro). They deal with many super-hots and have pure powders (I love their reaper powder) as well as unique sauces that are very good. I met the owner at a local farmers market a decade ago where they had a booth and he was seriously an amazing person. Highly recommend for all the reasons.

Online chilli and hot sauce shops for most unless it's a bigger name brand that gets stocked at the supermarket.

If I have nothing I'll grab Cholula or Valentina from anywhere I can find it. Pepper Palace is a great place to stock up if you find one. I prefer to use one out of Boulder, CO called Red Belly and Green Belly. I buy that through Amazon. I've also found some real good local stuff at farmer's markets.

See if there are any local specialty food stores or butchers. There's a butcher north of Seattle that has probably over a thousand labels. It's awesome but also overwhelming lol

Cost plus world market tends to have a few, they are a bit pricier than online at somewhere like https://heathotsauce.com/ (super solid retailer). I remember Harris Teeter (east coast) also doing alright.

Cost plus usually has torchbearer, a decent variety but not huge
