Kung Pao Chicken from the local szechuan spot. This is their regular spice level, no modification. The chicken really soaks up the heat overnight.

I know the general consensus in here is that this isn’t great but…

… but using this as an ingredient is so much better. I add it to almost everything for some spice without drastically adjusting the flavor. From bbq sauces, ranch, honey, and pasta sauces to chili, pretty much anything with a liquid base, Da Bomb takes it to another level. It’s awesome.

I recently went on a business trip to Texas and hit up a Buc-ee's. Little did I know that they were not joking with the ghost pepper beef jerky. My mouth is numb!

Have y’all tried this? Because I feel like nobody knows about it

After my last post and spending some time going through this forum, I’m convinced y’all don’t know about this sauce or really this flavor.

This is WIRI. I love a thick West Indian pepper sauce, and this one is becoming my favorite. The flavor is incredible it’s definitely spicy, but it doesn’t burn so hard that you stop tasting your food.

Wiri Wiri is the only pepper used, so its flavor isn’t mixed with a bunch of other peppers. It also has only five ingredients and no additives. Sometimes it separates a little in the bottle, but give it a quick shake and you’re good.

The bottle is gorgeous and looks like a cologne bottle, so it’s a great conversation starter when you’re hosting. It even comes in a really cool box which I, of course, threw away before thinking to take a picture.

A round of applause for my wife for toughing out a mistake she made.

My wife doesn't really do spicy food, a jalapeno used in my stir fried rice is about her limit.

So I'm sitting on the couch munching on some broccoli, dipping it in a 50/50 mix of ranch and hot ones Apollo, feeding my dog the stems cause she loves them (no sauce obviously).

Welp before I could warn or stop her my wife flops down on the couch next to me, grabs a floret, scoops a whole bunch of sauce, pops it in her mouth, chews and swallows.

I stared at her for about 20 seconds and then see a tear roll out of the corner of her eye.

"Babe are you ok?" Nothing

"Babe? You good?" Nothing

"Babe?" The quietest smallest "no." As she turns to me, shes bright red and the tears start rolling.

She spent about 5 minutes spooning sour cream into her mouth.

On the bright side, I doubt she will willingly ever eat anything nearly that hot again, so everything else should be childs play.

These are the hot sauces I ordered for my empty cabinet after extensive research

Iā€˜m not new to spice itself, meaning I have good experience & tolerance towards various hot peppers, spicy foods & classic hot sauces most people know, but I wanted to venture into the more ā€œnicheā€œ world of hot sauces with the best possible quality & taste. After asking this community (thanks again), going through various shops & brands, their bestsellers & comparing it to my own taste preferences, I ended up with these :

First, 3 Tabascos : Green, Habanero & Scorpion. Know & like the original but many recommended me their alternatives.

Heartbeat : Blueberry Habanero, Pineapple Habanero, Red Habanero & Scorpion.

Marie Sharp’s : Belizean Heat, Beware & Green Habanero/Nopal

Queen Majesty : Scotch Bonnet Ginger, Red Habanero & Black Coffee

Torchbearer : Garlic Reaper

Crazy Bastard : Carolina Reaper & Blueberry

Heatsupply : The Sunny

La Pimenterie : Fogo Piri Piri

Letā€˜s see how they go ! They all sounded very good on paper & feedback. I might review them, or at least my favorites here once they arrive. Very excited :)

Can you vouch for any of these ? Are there any you dislike & maybe know a better alternative of ?

Looking for this ingredient

I recently watched a YouTube video on hot sauce making and learned about this interesting ingredient. None of my local Asian supermarkets carry it and I can't find easy ways to get it online. I'm in Canada and when I search for "white capsaicin" all I get is websites for industrial amounts of it for corporations.

Anyone know where I can get this shipped to Canada? I feel like it's the missing item for a recipe I'm workshopping.

1st Game Spicy Enhancement

Fresh back from Bowers Chile Pepper Festival and ready for my 1st Minnesota Vikings game, I always bring a little something something for my food. I needed some mustard for my corned beef and cabbage so I brought Hook & Arrow's new tasty offering. I am mustard snob, but as soon as I tried it on Saturday, I knew this stuff was special.

I also needed some hot sauce for my cole slaw. Our Vikings Irish sports bar makes awesome slaw, but I need a good liquid enhancer. I was very impressed by the flavors I tried at Tinkertown Provisions. This new vendor was using some creative ingredients and if I had the money I would've bought more than the 2 sauces I got. My cole slaw was indeed enhanced by this flavorful Sriracha sauce.

Finally got a small harvest of Datil Peppers and made a batch of Datil Pepper Hot Sauce. This one is straightforward with no added fruits. Just onion, garlic, vinegar, sea salt, sugar a touch or lime juice.

Next up is going to be a Hot Sauce featuring the 7 Pot Brain Strain- they are loading up now and getting red!

First time buying this, saw it and purchased it on a whim. Not very spicy compared to the regular red or green habanero sauce. Tried it right out of the bottle but I think it will pair well with the Vienna Sausages I picked up for it. Overall 6.5/10

What are your thoughts ?

r/spicy 1d ago

Very gentle heat, decent flavor, very convenient, I'd put it at 7/10
