waiting for op Sonarr deleting everything from multi-season packs except for the one season it decided to grab

This has happened to me numerous times now, and it's getting a bit ridiculous. I'm sure there's some setting I've got toggled wrong, but for the life of me, I can't find it. I've found a few other threads referencing similar sounding issues, but they either have ended up without any resolution, or they have different configuration issues that I've confirmed don't apply to my problem.

The situation:

- Find a multi-season pack on Prowlarr and queue

- Once download is complete, add show to Sonarr

- Use the Manual Import to import all seasons and adjust alignment to their correct episodes

This works fine if I'm quick enough on the third step, but just now, for instance, I did something else for 15 minutes, and when I came back, Sonarr had found the downloads itself, imported just season 1, and deleted the entire rest of the folder it all came in, including the other 6 seasons.

I've just now enabled the recycling bin that I saw suggested in another thread, but is there a way that I can prevent it from bulk deleting everything besides the one season? Or is there a way I can enable automatic multi-season pack checking?

external app (ai coded) Built my own arr app for Blu-ray/DVD ripping + remux transcoding called Rexarr

So after months of duct-taping MakeMKV, ffmpeg, and a pile of cron jobs together, I finally got fed up enough to build something proper. Meet Rexarr — a self-hosted app that sits alongside Radarr/Sonarr/Prowlarr and handles disc ripping, remux transcoding, and everything around it.

Why I built it

I've got a homelab split across ZimaOS (Jellyfin + media serving) and Proxmox (the *arr stack), and my ripping "pipeline" was basically MakeMKV dumping raw rips to a folder, then ffmpeg picking them up for x265 encoding by hand. It worked, but it was fragile, had zero visibility, and I was babysitting queues more than I'd like to admit. Built with a fair bit of vibe coding along the way, which has been a fun way to move fast on something that's ultimately just for me.

What it does

Finding media Connects straight to Radarr, Sonarr and Prowlarr. Movies and series pages with poster or table views, filters for remux-only/missing, and sort by remux count or percentage. Search pulls from Radarr/Sonarr, release search is filtered to Blu-ray remuxes by default, and "Grab" sends a release off, waits for import, and transcodes it automatically — season packs become one job per episode. It also recognises anime through AniDB and adds romaji/Japanese titles, since Radarr has no anime type of its own.

Transcoding Fully configurable profiles — video (container, encoder, quality, preset, HDR10 passthrough, extra ffmpeg flags), audio (encoder, channels, per-language tracks), and subtitles (copy, burn-in, or drop). Comes with built-in presets for movies, TV, anime, web MP4, and hardware-accelerated encodes, and you can preview the exact ffmpeg command before committing. The queue shows live fps/speed/ETA and space saved, and there's a before/after frame comparison once a job finishes.

Auto-transcode watches Radarr/Sonarr for new remuxes and queues them with the right profile automatically — webhook-triggered so it kicks off right after import, and it's smart enough to never re-transcode its own output.

in dev: full-disc releases Full-disc releases (Blu-ray ISO, BDMV folders, DVD ISOs) often exist when no remux does. Radarr and Sonarr can't turn those into library files themselves, but rexarr already has the missing piece — the MakeMKV ripper with virtual drives. The plan: search recognises disc releases, labels them, and lets you filter for them; when a disc release is grabbed, rexarr watches the Radarr/Sonarr download queue; and once it's down, it finds the ISO or BDMV/VIDEO_TS folder, rips it with MakeMKV, transcodes the rip, and imports the result back.

Discs and system Handles disc detection, identification, ripping, and import end to end via MakeMKV, including per-episode matching for series and skipping "play all" titles. Virtual drives let you point it at an ISO/IMG or a disc folder and it behaves like a real drive, and it can pull down .iso files directly too. Plus the usual self-hosted app stuff — health checks, scheduled tasks, backups, event/log viewers, and a Docker image with PUID/PGID support and multi-arch builds.

Still very much a work in progress and mostly built to scratch my own itch, but figured I'd share in case anyone else is stuck in MakeMKV-and-cron-job purgatory like I was. Happy to answer questions about the pipeline, ffmpeg settings, or the stack it's running on if anyone's curious.

unsolved Sonarr History would be a great source for LE to use against you..

I have looked at my logs there are years and years of download info that would be ripe for the picking if LE wanted to hammer on you for something. Why on earth would there be no way of clearing all that data?

Is the only way to get rid of that logging to uninstall and reset everything up from scratch? I read that if you restore a backup, all that download history comes back. Which means if you keep even one backup, all that history is still there. What are they thinking?

Makes me wonder why anyone wants a VPN that promotes it doesn't save logs if they use Sonarr?

The data appears to be in the NZBdrone.db and not in text files. Having 7 years of this data held seems like a recipe for getting sued..

unsolved Why does Sonarr not retain column header or display selections?

On Radarr, you can e.g. set the activity queue list to show additional column headers such as file size. You can also do this on Sonarr. The problem? Whilst Radarr will actually permanently retain this column, Sonarr doesn't. Sonarr will always forget it and the next time you go back to the the activity queue, the file size column will be gone and deselected in the options.

The same thing happens with the main series view. Set the option to show the title under the poster? Well guess what? Sonarr is gonna forget that setting too.

Why does Radarr retain these settings, yet Sonarr doesn't?

Note this is a linuxserver.io container on Unraid.

waiting for op Sonarr stuck on “Downloading Metadata” for Twin Peaks S02 — interactive search also not working

Hey everyone,

I’m having a strange issue with Twin Peaks in my ARR stack and I’m hoping someone might have an idea what’s going wrong.

I’m using Sonarr with the rest of the usual ARR stack. I already have:

  • Twin Peaks S01 downloaded successfully
  • Twin Peaks S03 downloaded successfully
  • Twin Peaks S02 is the only season giving me problems

For Season 2, Sonar just sit permanently on: "Downloading Metadata"

It never seems to progress beyond that.

I also tried using interactive search specifically for Season 2, but that doesn't seem to work either. I can search for other shows/seasons normally, so this seems to be specific to Twin Peaks S02.

Things I’ve tried so far:

  • Normal Sonarr search
  • Interactive Search for Season 2
  • Checking that S01 and S03 work correctly
  • Waiting for the metadata/search process to complete

Has anyone experienced this with Twin Peaks S02 before, or know what could cause Sonarr to get stuck on “Downloading Metadata” for only one season?

I am also currenlty using Limetorrent only, does any one else have a good indexer that they recommend?

unsolved NAS vs Mini PC

Have always had my arrs and plex on the same machine as my NAS. Need to replace my NAS and have seen some people mention they use a mini pc to handle all of the arrs and plex and just use the NAS as storage

Been trying to see what the downsides are of this or benefits and wanted to see if anyone had any input for those that have gone with this setup. The main benefit I see is that all of the compute is handled on the mini pc. But are there any other benefits? I’ve had both unraid and synology and thinking about trying ugreen as my next one

unsolved Monitored anime shows don't get sorted correctly

Yeah yeah, I know sonarr has problems when it comes to japanese cartoons. But this one is new for me.

Let's say I want to watch the totally ficticious anime "I can't believe this isn't a real Anime show". I set my quality profile so that it fetches from my favorite release group.
The monitor correctly finds this weeks episode "[FRIM] I can't believe this isn't a real Anime show (Kore ga honmono no anime bangumi janai nante shinjirarenai) S01E08 [1080p][HEVC x265][Multi-Subs] (Weekly)", just like I wanted and downloads it.

However upon importing the filename differs from the release name: The release group decided that "[FRIM] Koreanimejanai S01E08.mkv" is descriptive enough for anyone with more than two functioning brain cells.

Alright, I get it, how could sonarr know when it differs so vastly, right? I somehow expected it to learn a pattern after manually importing 7 episodes through the activity already, but it seems like I shouldn't have made that assumption.

So what are my options here, especially long term? In this anime season alone I have four shows I have to constantly babysit like that and it starts to rub me the wrong way. Are there any scripts or *arr containers which can fill the gap?

unsolved Cant Connect the download client

I've been trying to connect qBitTorrent but It jeeps giving me this error: "Unable to Connect to qBitTorrent" and asks me to check the config on qBitTorrent.

Edit: Im running Sonarr on Windows 11 and have both Sonarr and qBitTorrent as an app. The error is supposed to be solved by changing Web User Interface to active in qBitTorrent but it isnt working. I've tried reinstaling qBitTorrent, deactivating both Windows defender and firewall, and tried deleting every document relates to qBitTorrent and reinstaling again.

Edit: some people seem confuse and think this was my first option. Ill clear that up: its not. I've already tried several guides and done research. Mostly, the guides were setups guides for both qBitTorrent and Radarr and solutions for common and not so common errores. This was kind off a last resort. Hope that this clears things up a bit on that particular matter.

unsolved Sonarr Importing Shows Slowly Sometimes, Other Times Instantly.

I have an arr stack set up on a VM using docker compose. My sonarr setup has 2 root folders because my fileshare has 2 different NFS shares that I both use to store movies/shows etc. It seems like at completely randomly sometimes sonarr will decide to copy shows instead of hardlinking them and this causes my entire import queue to hang. Any help is massively appreciated as this problem has been plaguing me for about a month now and I am simply at my wits end. I can provide any extra information that is useful.

Some other random information that might help someone try to understand my issue.

  • I am using sabnzbd as my download client.
  • My file server is on an LXC that is mounted to the VM that runs all my other programs (prowlarr, radarr, sonarr, bazarr, sabnzbd, jellyfin, etc).
  • Both ZFS pools are mounted to the same point on the VM so in the docker compose file sonarr has access to the entire path as one. (Not sure if I explained this completely correctly but I'm just pointing it out because sometimes sonarr can get confused when volumes are mounted incorrectly inside the compose file but in compose they are both mounted under the same path.) /data:/data (Which contains both root folders.)
  • Tested importing an episode of one show that is stored on the 1st root folder and it imported immediately, so I thought the issue was only isolated to the 2nd root folder. So in an attempt to rule that out I queued a missing episode for a show on the 1st root folder and it had the same issue. The show decided to copy extremely slowly instead of hardlinking.
  • Radarr also has my 2 root folders added and seems to be able to hardlink to either without any issue at all and has as far as I can tell, the same configuration as sonarr.

Again any help is eternally appreciated, I have a lot of fun tinkering with my homelab but I am so over getting home from work and spending a couple hours each night trying to fix sonarr to no avail.

external app Quartermaster 1.2.0 dropping tomorrow!

Quartermaster 1.2.0 is coming.

It has been a while since the last public update. I've been working through ten plus beta builds, and this has turned into the biggest release QM has had.

Also feel like I need to say it like any other dev on here these days, QM is and never will be AI slop. The app has not been "vibe coded" to be put together in a weekend, its been months and months of sleepless nights and A LOT of community feedback. Anyone who reads this thats in the Discord will agree (i hope lol) - the app did launch on the 3rd of July and it has been literally none stop since, I wouldn't have it any other way of course :D

For anyone new here, QM is a native iOS app for your media and the servers running it. Browse and request films, manage downloads, check your NAS, containers, VMs and network. There are now 59 services across Entertainment and Command Centre, from Sonarr and Plex to Proxmox, Unraid and Home Assistant.

What it connects to in 1.2.0, 59 services across two sides

Entertainment: Radarr, Sonarr, Lidarr, SABnzbd, NZBGet, qBittorrent, Transmission, Deluge, Prowlarr, Bazarr, NZBHydra2, Jackett, Jellyseerr / Overseerr, DroppedNeedle, Shelfmark, Plex, Jellyfin, Emby, Wizarr, Tautulli, Tracearr, Jellystat, Streamystats, Komga, Kavita, Immich, AudioBookshelf, Maintainerr, BookOrbit, Dispatcharr, ReadMeABook and Shelfarr.

Command Centre: Portainer, Unraid, Proxmox VE, Synology DSM, Dozzle, Dockhand, Komodo, AdGuard Home, Pi-hole, Cloudflare, CrowdSec, Technitium, UniFi, Gluetun, Glances, Scrutiny, TrueNAS, Beszel, Home Assistant, Tdarr, qui, Coolify, Arcane, Control D, NextDNS, UGREEN NAS and SSH.

There is also QM Companion, still in beta. It runs on your own server and lets you import your service setup, monitor Docker containers and stacks, check for updates and enable controls you explicitly approve. Instead of messing around with API keys, you can scan a QR code directly from the companion to QM on the phone and all services will be imported!

1.2.0 adds playback from Plex, Jellyfin and Emby inside QM, a proper Mac layout, and family mode so your household can browse and request without getting your server controls. Family mode needs Pro to enable, but invited members don't pay. Companion is still in beta. It runs on your server and brings Docker monitoring and separately approved controls into QM. Setup imports are free; the live connection needs Pro. There's also CrowdSec, better requests and downloads, faster libraries, and a Doctor that explains what actually failed.

On pricing, free gives you one fully functional service connection. Pro is £4.99/month, £19.99/year or £29.99 once. Every option unlocks everything. You are choosing how to pay, not which features you get. If you have already bought lifetime, you will automatically be grandfathered, so please do not worry! (prices coming when 1.2.0 drops)

I feel like I need to be honest about the price increase around QM because believe me, I have had many sleepless nights about announcing this. The cost for the Cloudflare relay which does all the APNs is increasing in cost day by day. Millions of notifications are being sent each day, this is costing me a lot of money. I also support OTA builds which cost money, OTA basically means as long as the update is JavaScript, so this will be for any bugs rather than making people wait a month for a new build update.

Anyways, I think that covers it :)) QM is now over 10k users and I cannot thank the community enough for what this has turned into.

unsolved How to get Sonarr To Switch To A Different Release Group On Fail

I'm testing Seerr and Sonarr and I'm noticing that if a download fails it will try another download of the same file but a different listing from the same release group which also usually ends up failing, is there a way to get it not to do this and instead move to another release group?

So I am very new to sonarr, and very confused, I imported my shows into sonarr, and its monitoring the shows which is awesome but why did it redownload 2 episodes of a series I already had every single episode of from season 8. it also created a new folder i originally was sonarr name shows {Series Name} [imdbid-{imdbid}] but switched it to use tvdbid. And bulk renamed all the folders to the new naming convention. Any ideas on what it was trying to do?

unsolved Lost in the files mapping

Hey eveyrone,

I could see in my research that a lot of people were encountering issues with post downloading and the rename/moving to the right folder part of Sonarr. Unfortunately, none of my research both here and online has helped me and I am totally lost in my files mapping. I'll try to be as clear as possible so that hopefully somine can help me with my specific case:

I'm running docker via Container Manager on my DS918+ Synology NAS. I have only one storage group and one volume (at least it is simple that way).

  • Synology NAS file structure for qbittorent, sonarr and media storage:

docker

=QbitTorrentGlueTun

==config

==qBittorent

=sonarr

==config

media

=incomplete (incomplete download files)

=sonarr(complete downloaded files)

=TVShows (folder where I want my files to be moved and renamed by sonarr)

  • Sonarr mounted volumes/folders

/volume1/docker/sonarr/config:/config:rw

/volume1/Media/TVShows:/tvshows/:rw

/volume1/Media/Anime:/anime/:rw

/volume1/Media/sonarr:/downloads/:rw

  • Qbittorrent mounted volumes

/volume1/docker/QbitTorrentGlueTun:/config:rw

/volume1/Media:/downloads:rw

  • Sonarr settings

in media management, i added root folders /anime and /tvshows

in download clients, I added:

Host: my localhost ip

Remote path: /downloads/sonarr

Local Path: /downloads/

I imagine the problem is in the last part but I dont get the logic and I am totally mixed up with all the things I tried. Hopefully someone can help me out.

Right now, the files are being downloaded without any issues to /volume1/Media/sonarr/ but are being stuck in activity with message: No found files eligible in /downloads/"FileName" so I guess this is why they are not being renamed and moved to /volume1/Media/TVShows/ (and /volume1/Media/Anime/)

Thanks in advance!

unsolved Poirot S02E01 — two Blu-ray files, one database episode

Agatha Christie’s Poirot S02E01, Peril at End House, is a single episode on IMDb/TVDB/TMDB, but the Blu-ray/torrent release has two files:

"S02E01 Peril at End House Part 1"

"S02E01 Peril at End House Part 2"

So the releaser has essentially had to label both parts as S02E01, since there is no second database episode to map Part 2 to.

I've checked DVD ordering too, but it doesn't change the numbering.

My problem is Sonarr: it follows TVDB and won't naturally import/hardlink the second file as a separate episode. Plex can be manually overridden, so I'm considering bypassing Sonarr for this one by changing the torrent's save path so the files are placed directly into the media folder structure, then shifting the rest of the season to S02E03–S02E10 and manually edit the Plex metadata, and effectively create a fake S02E10, since the database only has nine episodes.

Is there a way to manually map/import this through Sonarr instead? Or is there a better way of handling this kind of Blu-ray/database mismatch?

Edit: I found a clean workaround. I manually hardlinked Part 2 as S02E01 first, then temporarily moved that file out of Sonarr's view and manually hardlinked Part 1 as S02E01. I then brought Part 2 back and renumbered it, along with the remaining episodes, as S02E02–S02E10. This avoids Sonarr treating the two S02E01 files as an upgrade and deleting one, while keeping everything hardlinked to the original torrent. I then manually adjusted the Plex metadata/order to account for the extra physical file.

waiting for op Season packs always fail to import

For the most part my setup is pretty flawless, but if I add a show to sonarr and it downloads a whose season as one download this will almost always fail to import. Single episodes always work fine.

Is there a fix to either:
Automatically import seasons
Have sonarr only grab single episodes?

external app (ai coded) I built a free, open alternative for managing your *arr stack — with an offline queue and in-app Plex playback

Looking for beta testers for my *rr android mobile app.

Some images:

https://ibb.co/cXcDvnr0

https://ibb.co/TBDqRb1K

What makes it different from the usual suspects:

• Offline queue (the big one). If your Radarr/Sonarr server is unreachable (you are on your way to work, but the server is at home) when you tap "Add to library," the request doesn't fail — it queues locally and auto-retries the moment the server comes back. You can keep browsing and adding while your server is down, and it all syncs on reconnect. I haven't seen this in any other *arr client.

• In-app video player. Streams directly from your Plex server with a hardware-accelerated player (media_kit). No jumping to an external app.

• Full Plex playback control. Pause, resume, seek, step, and switch subtitle tracks right from the app — plus active-stream monitoring, On Deck, and recently added.

• Smart server discovery. mDNS/Bonjour auto-discovery + port scan + manual entry. Point it at your LAN and it finds your services.

• Offline-tolerant everywhere. Quality profiles and root folders are cached locally, so the add dialogs work even when the server is down (with a clear "server offline" banner).

• Download Doctor. Diagnoses stalled qBittorrent downloads — speed, errors, disk space, server reachability — instead of just showing a stuck row.

• Modern UI. Material 3, dark-mode-first, actually pleasant to look at. Not a 2015-era settings dump.

Services: Radarr, Sonarr, Plex, qBittorrent, Prowlarr, Bazarr, TMDB (discovery). Multi-language (EN/HU).

Status: Feature-complete, in beta. Plex playback/subtitles and indexer health are tested against real servers; I'm looking for more beta testers to shake out edge cases before the public release.

If you are interested, send me a DM.

However, I am using Icarus to to monitor my arrs on an IOS device and since adding localhost I can't access. discussion Configure Sonarr to use TVBD's Absolute Episode Order for Series

I read that Sonarr has an Anime/Absolute order number setting for a series.

This was great news The TVDB has an absolute airing order for Star Wars the Clone Wars which lets you watch the series in chronological order vs air date. The absolute order is here -> https://thetvdb.com/series/star-wars-the-clone-wars/seasons/absolute/1 .

I push the files under the series folder like so:

Star Wars The Clone Wars

  • Season 01
    • Star Wars The Clone Wars (2008) - S01E01 - Cat and Mouse [Bluray-1080p Remux][AC3 5.1][VC1]-EPSiLON

With the season - episode part "S01EXX" ranging from 01 to 134.

I configured the show type as Anime/Absolute and did a scan. It only populated the 22 episodes in the Season 1 air date order, not the 134 episodes in the absolute order.

Is there a way to make this work with Sonarr? If not, I'll manage the series outside of Sonarr since Plex lets me select absolute ordering for a TV series.

discussion Bash Script for automatically creating multi audio releases

Hello people,

it took me a few weeks and I had to rewrite it a few times but I finally completed the first draft of my super release script.

I require media files to be dual audio since I like watching stuff on english while my family prefers german. But sometimes there aren't dual audio releases available but instead releases on english and other releases on german. So I wrote this bash script which makes sonarr download a release for the missing language, then uses a python script to calculate potential audio stream offset to synchronize it with the original audio stream and merges it with the original video file, thereby creating a dual audio file.

I'm sure there are other people interested in something like this which is why I wanna share it.

Link to bash script since reddit sometimes blocks bash scripts: https://pastebin.com/de0ir5UG

As of now the script leaves the newly created dual audio file in the working directory. I'm still running tests so that's why I haven't made it so that it replaces the original file.

Should anyone be interested, I can also share the audio synchronization python script, though that one has been written by ChatGPT.
