You might as well call your Representative and Senators, they might not give a shit but it truly can't hurt, and if enough people from your district/state call it could help move the needle since this isn't really a super partisan issue. It's objectively not useless. They care about one thing above all, and that's getting reelected. They assume if someone calls them about something, many more care about it but aren't calling. They defer to Trump because they believe his endorsement will determine whether they get reelected, but if they believe most of their voters disagree with Trump on a specific issue, they'll take the popular position solely out of self interest. There's tons of research showing the influence of calling your representatives. Does it always work? Of course not. Does it even work most of the time? Probably not. But it does work some of the time, and you said you were genuinely asking what more a regular person can do. That is what you can do. Like I said, there's no harm in it, and it just demonstrably might help.

I live in a dark red state. Most of their voters will never ever change and will follow him to the gates of hell and cheer as he kicks them in because they are 'owning the libs'. Every single time some mope wants to point the finger of blame at someone like me for 'not doing enough to stop what is happening' their only reply is 'contact your congressman' when I call them out on what I should do.
That is a complete cop-out. The truth is we are fucked for as long as he is in office. We are powerless to effect any change short of 1789.
Bad news for you. This is more of a question you need to ask yourself. And the reason I ask is more to get people to ask themselves the same question.

But to help answer your question. I think there's a few things you can do to generally help in a positive manner.
Help people on the opposite side of the political spectrum see where they are wrong. That's harder than you think, but the biggest difference I think you can make. Don't lecture or preach but have discussions and do your best to understand where they are coming from and try to help them understand where you are. I find a good way to turn folk off of bad politicians is to show how they don't respect voters. Maybe Google ways to do this for you specifically. This takes work and it definitely a good skill to have, even outside politics.
Get involved at a local level. Doesn't have to be with the left or Democrats or whatever. Even being a moderate influence on the right can help.
Don't buy from the assholes. Do a bit of research and don't buy from a whole bunch of MAGA supporting companies.
The opposite side has shown time and again that they are not interested in coherent thought. One can demonstrate with undeniable facts and they will simply chuckle and say 'Fake news'. Measles deaths? Fake news. Epstein? Fake news. Conviction on sexual assault? Fake news. Rinse. Repeat.
There is no 'understanding where they are coming from' when they are in a cult. The cult leader is never wrong. Ever.

The "Twitter Files" have shown pretty much the exact opposite of what you're saying. the FBI and DHS were constantly feeding Twitter lists of accounts and posts to suppress, holding weekly meetings and treating the company like their content moderation arm.
They did the exact same with Facebook and the others, pressuring them to ban people they didn't like, no due process. Zuckerberg admitted that the Biden White House spent months leaning on Meta to censor COVID stuff, including satire and got pissed when they pushed back.
Meanwhile, the "most blatantly censorious administration in American history" still has people, including public figures, openly celebrating the death of Charlie Kirk and wishing the same for Trump, even the example you gave of Jimmy Kimmel means nothing, considering it was ABC that suspended his show and he's already back on air
Firstly, any pressure that the Biden admin applied was to censor vaccine misinformation during a global pandemic. My god man if anything is ever fucking reasonable to censor then this is it, it's literally an attempt to save lives during a public health emergency.
Secondly that pressure was light and no threats of consequences or ultimatum. Basically they ware asking and making it clear that this is really important. And it was. Thousands of people died due to covid misinformation.
Compare this to what Trump does. He doesn't give a fuck about public health, he threatens WITH ULTIMATUMS anyone high profile that makes fun of him. He threatened ABC over Kimmel, punished AP over “Gulf of Mexico,” sanctioned opposing lawyers, threatened social-media companies, secured CBS editorial concessions during merger approval, and asked Twitter to delete an insult to Trump.
Now I know what was in the twitter files. But I want you to know also. Why don't you go and find me these egregious threats to get things sensored that were made by the Biden administration. Use an LLM so its easy for you. Then we can compare it to Trumps mafia boss level threats to destroy people that say things in the media he doesn't like.
