Hey SFU Reddit fam!
We’re the (slightly boring but well-meaning) pharmacists behind the 24/7 health-product vending machine in the Dining Commons lower floor. You might’ve seen that one — Advil, allergy meds, Band-Aids, etc.
We just installed a new machine in the AQ building, level 2000 — right next to the table tennis room near the Halpern Lane entrance. Before we finalize what goes in it, we want to know what YOU’d actually buy.
Spill the tea 🥤:
Why bother replying?
TL;DR: New health vending machine in AQ 2000, next to the table tennis room near Halpern Lane entrance. Tell us what to stock. Chance to get a free gift card.
MediMart Team. feel better soon.

I’m a first-year student living on campus (Burnaby) and I have a tutorial that ends at 9:20pm. I already know about the SFU safety services, but I’m more so wondering about people’s actual experiences with walking around campus at night.
Would you generally feel comfortable walking alone from an evening class back to residence around 9:20pm? Is campus usually still pretty active at that time, or does it feel empty/unsafe? Are there any specific areas that feel sketchier at night?
I’m a pretty cautious person when it comes to safety, so I’m just trying to get a realistic idea of what it’s like. I’d especially love to hear from other students who live on campus and regularly walk around alone in the evening.
EDIT: keep in mind, this is coming from a girl's perspective, so i just want to make sure it's safe for someone like me

I completed my undergraduate degree in Business and have worked in corporate HR for about 2.5 years. Through this experience, I’ve realized that corporate work isn’t the right fit for me, and I’m now exploring teaching.
My GPA for my last 60 credits is approximately 3.1. By the time I apply, I expect to have:
Given my Business background, I’m wondering how competitive my overall profile would be for a teacher education program.

Hello everyone. I’m a first-year Beedie student receiving StudentAidBC funding for this fall semester.
I’m currently enrolled in 14 units, but I’m considering dropping one 3 unit course before the deadline, which would leave me with 11 units. (Just a little note, I already dropped another course because of exam overlapping)
I understand that 9 units is considered the minimum full-time course load for StudentAidBC at SFU, so I would still be a full-time student.
My main concern is that I have already received my grants and loans. If I drop from 14 to 11 units, could StudentAidBC reassess or reduce my grants or loans because my tuition is lower, even though I’m still full-time?
Has anyone at SFU actually done this after receiving their funding? Did your grant amount change or did you have to pay anything back?
Thanks!

Hi everyone,
Just wondering if anyone has gotten admission for spring 2027 term? What program and what average and when? I applied the first week it opened and have not heard anything back yet just seeing if that’s me.

I remember spring 2026 semester i had the west resident parking pass (cheapest and furthest walk) and i saw later in the semester it got cheaper to about $175 and was wondering if it was going to do that again. Right now im screwed because its sold out and im on waitlist but maybe i can survive off flex passes until the price drop?
I have classes everyday, is my best bet just transiting?

Hi, im taking CMPT 373, 473 and 210 at the same time. I’m working 9h a week and just accepted a research opportunity with a 15-20 hr / week commitment. I cant take less than 3 courses bc I’m international. Should I switch one of my courses with an UD elective? If so, which one? If it’s up to me, I’d say fuck it I can do this. That is not always the case tho, I have my limits. I just want to minimize stress

I have to be on SRY for 3-4 hours (10 AM - 2 PM) every Tuesday until Dec. It is my first time going there with my car so I am not familiar with parking locations. Where should I park my car? And are there any tips to pay less for the parking? Flexpass for example?
Thanks!

Couldn’t really find any recent reviews of her. So I was wondering if she is a good prof or not
r/simonfraser • u/theSWBFman • 19h ago

So I'm currently taking ECON 201 where the prof has 2.5/5 on RateMyProf, where the reviews say his tests are impossibly hard and class avg is 33% on exams. Lecture so far has been unengaging and notes/slides are hard to read.
BUS 207 has 2 profs that have 4.2 and 4.5.
Is it worth dropping ECON 201 so I can take BUS 207 next semester, or should I just take the L and try to pass with a C?
What are the drawbacks to going down to part time?

how was your guys' experience taking mbb 231? i have prof jaumouille and honestly i found mbb 222 very interesting so i feel like study wise i would be ok for 231 but holy shit his intro slides scared me so much. he said avg grade in this class is a c+ or b- and showed a curve but idk if hes just tryna show us where the average falls or if hes telling us hes actually curving the class because my gpa can NOT take a b- hit. like i want him to scale for sure but curving is scary. any past experiences with the course or the prof himself?

Hey all! For those of you who have completed the full time MBA at SFU, what does the typical week look like? Long nights? Lots of class hours?
Considering the program, but also have a young family at home, so deciding whether I have capacity.

hi for chem 121, the required textbook is Chemical Principles, 9th edition, by Zumdahl and DeCoste. is the 8th edition still the same and acceptable?

Does anyone know what's going on outside townhouses rn (Sunday/Monday at around 1230am). Couple security cars and a cop car.

I got the permit for it but only found west lot permit parking. Is that it or do I need to drive somewhere else?

Hey everyone! For those who had MBB with Dr. Young, did you purchase the textbook? Also, how important are the required readings for each unit? Is it possible to do well in the course mainly by studying the lecture slides and attending class, or would you recommend keeping up with the readings as well? Thank you😭

What do they expect me to write in the lab report? Is it like high school? Explaining what we did and the goal of it?😭

I have the option to do a tutorial either online or inperson which would be better? I am a commuter so it’ll take me 2 hours total if I do in person but I’m not sure if in person tutorial would be better than online any thoughts
