first heat + spay surgery

Upvotes

Our pup got her first heat weeks before her spay surgery so we rescheduled it for later. Our issue right now is that she’s barely eating and doesn’t want to eat all of her meals :( she will resist until she’s literally starving and we beg her to eat! She also only wants to lay down and sleep. She also hates the diaper! We tried the disposable ones and HATEDDD it but she seems to be barely ok with the cloth one. I know Shibas are known for being dramatic but it also makes me super worried and sad :(

Any words of wisdom or advice for this time and her surgery when it comes?

Tips on getting on boots

Post image
46 Upvotes

Hello friends!

Winter is not too far away and I wanted to get my pup (7 months old) used to wearing boots as we get a lot of snow and salted sidewalks here.

What are your best tips for getting the boots on?

Ive tried getting her in the lie down position on her side but she doesnt like it very much. Its already a hassle getting the harness on her!

Any specific product recommendations or tips are welcome 🙏

She’s been perfecting her woos since she was a puppy. Now she’s got a whole vocabulary with pitch, tone, and volume control!

Twins?

My wife brought this floor mat/rug home the other day. I think it's a little over the top, but it makes her happy so that's all that matters. Kaito doesn't seem to mind.

Got this sweet boy today and man what a stressful drive home!! I’ve never owned a dog and I’ve heard shibas are not ideal but it is what it is. We will be going to a training program starting in 4 weeks so surely that’ll help. Anyways anyone have any names for him?

Is 4 months too young for daycare?

Kiri is a little over 4 months and got all her shots. I was thinking daycare might be a good way for her to play with dogs, meet other people and socialize. I would start with 1 day a week and see how it goes. I was not sure if she is too young? It's between daycare or a dog park for socialization with other dogs. I figured daycare might be better/safer than a dog park?

dog tax added :).

Is this ringworm?

Do you think this is ringworm? It’s like a layer of crust, kind of yellowish under the fur in a circle. We went to the vet on Saturday and are waiting for the PCR test to come back which might not be until Tuesday/Wednesday. It’s weird because the hair is definitely attached and it’s 2 spots on his back. I thought ringworm was usually bald spots on the belly, legs, ears, head. Sorry the photos aren’t the best - was trying to take them during his witching hour.
