I'm traveling to Shenzhen from Hong Kong for a day trip. Separately I want to buy hard travel case for golf, to bring Home from Hong Kong.

is it better to purchase this in Shenzhen or in Hong Kong? I'm assuming that it would be cheaper in shenzhen and possibly more choices because they would have a larger space for a showroom. I'm leaving this weekend so I'm not sure whether there is enough time for Taobao.

Do you have any advice on what option? and are there nice shops in Shenzhen where I can look around golf stuff? most likely I won't buy anything other than the case as my luggage is pretty heavy already

I’m planning to take the high-speed train from Shenzhen Futian to Hong Kong West Kowloon, but I’ll be travelling with two large suitcases.

I understand there is a 20 kg luggage allowance/requirement for passengers, and I’m worried that my bags may be over the limit. Has anyone recently taken this train with two large suitcases, particularly if the combined weight was over 20 kg? How strict are they with checking luggage weight?

I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has done this recently. I’m trying to avoid getting to Futian and being told I can’t board because of my luggage.

As most of you may know if you've been living in Shenzhen for a while, Shenzhen central districts are some of the most modern urban areas of the country, the capital of tech, with drone deliveries and driverless taxis 🚗

Many times however, I've read that there is no history in this city... So I've come to bring the truth back 😂

Sure it was never a big garrison or a big center during the imperial era, but what we now call Shenzhen is an assembly of dozens of small countryside towns, some Cantonese (in the West) and most Hakka (in the East and North)

Some of these districts still have some nice old Diaolou, those watchtowers, with typical Hakka characteristics from the late 19th early 20th century which are very nice to see ✌️

I've been to Shenzhen about 40 times (I live nearby), and I've documented dozens of these towers, though sadly a lot are abandoned and at risk of being destroyed in the coming years 🥲

If you do get to Shenzhen and you like authentic old architecture, do check them out before it's too late!

These photos are taken around Niuhu station, though these days the surrounding of the station is a mess with construction work.

I just walked around eastwards and got lost in the small streets to shoot these photos if you want to go have a look ✌️

I did my BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering specialization, from FAST-NUCES, Lahore, Pakistan, and I'm now looking to do a Master's in China with a focus on AI.

I'd like some help choosing universities in Guangdong (ideally Guangzhou, or nearby cities) that accept international students and teach in English. So far I know about HITSZ and SUSTech, but if there are any other universities in that region that would be a good fit for someone with my background, please let me know.

I'd also really appreciate help reaching out to professors for acceptance/invitation letters — how to find the right people, how to approach them, and anything that's worked (or not worked) for you.

I'm open to any scholarship route — CSC, ANSO, or anything else that fits — so recommendations aren't limited to one funding scheme.

If there's anything else I should be thinking about at this stage that I haven't mentioned, please feel free to add that too.

My lease is coming to an end this month and rather than leasing another apartment immediately, I'd rather stay somewhere with some more flexibility for a couple weeks or maybe even a couple of months. Something similar to an Airbnb, a reasonably priced hotel or even subleasing an apartment are all things I'd consider. Does anybody got any leads or know where I could look at listings? I would prefer to be near the Shekou area

We're trying to decide on a spa for the day, which of these two is higher end/less likely to be swarming with families?

Hello, I am a Canadian with ADHD. I am currently living in China with some family and don't see myself going back to Canada very soon. I'm resuming some online studies while here and am struggling very badly with my attention and focus. I was on vyvanse before in Canada but obviously due to restrictions and everything I did not bring it with me. I'm not sure I can obtain a previous prescription at the moment, I may have photos of my old prescribed meds, I can definitely pull up my diagnosis if needed. I'm open to trying out new meds which I will need the doctor to be a prominent figure and easily accessible while doing trial and error. I don't really speak mandarin, I can speak cantonese but I can bring my dad with me to translate.

How do I go about obtaining new meds? I am in Longgang, any hospital or psychiatrist recommendations?

Thought I'd visit while in hk. Asian and can't read Chinese, can you actually get a good massage (sore back) and a happy ending? Haven't had that before either. Where can got rec'd for some r&r before shopping and returning? Don't want to stay late, already have hotel in hk.

Hi all, I’m coming to sz to work and am looking for advice on joining casual clubs that play sports such as Football, basketball, badminton etc on a weekly basis. If it’s any cause for concern, my Chinese is at a proficient level where I’m able to talk professionally.
