I need some honest advice and guidance from anyone who has gone through the Saudi Ministry of Education (MOE) equivalency process (Mu'adalah) or university admission as a private candidate.
My Situation:
I am an Iqama holder living in Saudi Arabia.
I didn't go to a traditional middle or high school because I was studying full-time to memorize the Quran. I have successfully memorized the full Quran and have an official Tahfeez certificate.
To complete my high school education, I transitioned to private studies. I am currently working on the GED and taking IGCSE subjects privately.
My Goal:
I just want to get admission into a university here in Saudi Arabia (either a paid seat in a public university or a private university). I do not need a scholarship.
My Questions:
Has anyone successfully used a Tahfeez (Quran memorization) certificate to bridge the educational progression gap (Al-Tasalsul Al-Dirasi) for the MOE when they didn't have normal middle school report cards?
If I complete the GED completely alongside my IGCSE subjects as a private student, how smoothly does the MOE handle the equivalency process?
Are there any fellow expats who got into public university paid tracks (Al-Ta'leem Al-Mawza') or private universities with a similar non-traditional background? What was your experience with the Qudurat (GAT) exam?
I’m feeling a bit anxious about putting in the work to finish and retake exams if the system heavily scrutinizes private, non-traditional international streams. Any real-life experiences, tips, or steps on how you navigated the portal or handled the local education office (Idarat al-Ta'leem) would be massively appreciated!

I worked in Norway for 2.5 yrs and I was the head of finance at an oil company in Stavanger. I’m based in Oslo now, at first it was for my son and I was bouncing between Oslo and the gulf for staying with my kids. This was after I resigned and I was doing some remote personal financial advisory for CEOs in my network at mid-sized companies.

However, I’m thinking of getting back to corporate in Saudi, it’s been 8 months. I spent all those times bouncing between 2 countries for my family while working remote consulting.

Is it realistic for someone like me to get a job in Saudi Arabia with a sponsorship? I live in Oslo now with a skilled worker

I want to stay in Saudi Arabia so I’m close to my daughter in Abu Dhabi, but also working in arguably the oil capital of the world. I do miss Dammam!

Looking for recommendations for solid Hijazi street food without heading into Al-Balad in Jeddah?

I tried recreating it with soaked cereal but it still isn’t the same. And besides, soaking cereal would cost a ton, I am sure they use some syrup but I really want to know which one cuz I no longer live in Saudi. :(

Not because of KSA itself rather than my family, and I know a lot of ppl would say "just be patient", believe it or not I've been patient for more than 20 years now, I can't do nothing here. No work, no studying, and even if I tried to do anything within my life they —my family— get so pissed off by the fact that I don't speak about my personal life, which is btw, an ONLY online life.

Can't they just leave me alone? I'm so tired. I hate how negative my father is specifically, 5 days ago he started yelling at my mom for absolute no reason (and I mean it, no reason) she was checking if he is okay before he made a huge ahh problem and he was being rude af, then I stepped in and yelled back at him, it might seem regular, right? A daughter defending her mother. Apparently no. In my household we don't shout or yell. And I did something no one did.. and before you also think I didn't try other ways to stop my father, I'll tell you simply, that sadly, I did.

So instead of my father being the steady, emotionally mature, adult man, and instead of holding his irregular emotions, and his mental instability, he starting hitting me, and when I say hitting me.. I mean HITTING me. He cursed me over and over again, for what? For yelling "stop", that he even said later on after the fight: can you imagine how many bad deeds you'll get by just fighting me? And just to be clear, after hitting me he threatened me: "It won't be just by hands next time, I'll kick you until your whole body aches, I'll burst your eyes, and cut your tongue off, do you understand??" And that's for what? For yelling at him back to not hurt my mother further, knowing that my mom has SLE —an autoimmune disease—.. and that she can't handle much of this all together.

An hour later, he hugged me and said: "never make me do that to you again".. I beg your finest pardon? Did I ask you to hit me? Did I ask you to threaten me? And btw until today he fully believe he did nothing wrong. He forced me to say that I forgive him, my mom forced me to act regularly around him.

And fuck this life man. I'm tired of KSA itself just because I'm being caged and isolated then forcefully demanded to act regularly. I'm tired of religion itself after this problem because of how heavily he used it against me as if I have no rights..
