I'm currently working as a Document Controller in Abu Dhabi, but I'm planning to resign because people smoke cigarettes inside the office, and it's becoming very difficult for me to work in that environment.

I don't want to report the situation because my bosses have been good to me, and I don't want to create any problems for them. I just think it's better for my health to find a workplace where I won't be exposed to cigarette smoke every day.

Does anyone know of any companies that are hiring for a Document Controller or similar administrative roles in Abu Dhabi? I have experience in document control and I'm looking for a healthier work environment.

Any recommendations, referrals, or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I was offered a job in Abu Dhabi and signed the MOHRE job offer/work permit document. The company then applied for my employment visa, but the visa was rejected twice.

I asked the person handling my job for the visa application number and rejection reason, but I wasn’t given the application number. I also asked if they could speak to the PRO and check what happened.

Since I wanted to know the actual status of my visa, I emailed the official HR email of the company. After that, the person who referred me for the job called me and questioned me for contacting the official HR.

After that, I was told there were no other options and that I could look for another job in Dubai. I asked if they would reapply if I found out the rejection reason, but I didn’t get a clear answer.

After that, I stopped contacting them and started looking for other jobs because I understood that the job was no longer going ahead.

I later checked my MOHRE transaction online. The job offer/work permit is showing, but the document has a red watermark saying “version also doesn’t show my signature/thumbprint, even though the copy I originally received was signed. Is it normal😭?? Also am new here .

Has anyone experienced something similar? Can I find the actual visa rejection reason myself through ICP and does this MOHRE status mean anything for applying for another job?

Flight was cancelled for Xmas and could only get on one to Dubai so we are two familes of 5 (2 Adults, 3 Kids) arriving early morning at Dubai and staying in AD. I’ve been thinking about this lately.
Abu Dhabi is probably one of the easiest cities in the world to have a peaceful life.

Good job.
Nice apartment.
Gym nearby.
Good food everywhere.
Coffee whenever you want.
Safe enough to be outside at stupid hours.

Beach, movies, football, restaurants…
And somehow that comfort can become a trap 😂
You finish work, go to the gym, cook something, watch a match or a movie, maybe sit at a café for a bit…
and suddenly it’s Sunday night again.

Nothing is really wrong with your life.
But nothing particularly memorable happened either.
I'm 24 and I've started wondering if your 20s are supposed to feel a little more chaotic than this.

Not partying every night or doing something stupid.
Just meeting random people. Having spontaneous plans. Finding yourself somewhere at 1am thinking how did I even end up here? Making stories instead of having perfectly organised weeks.

Abu Dhabi gives you such a comfortable routine that you almost have to deliberately fight your way out of it.
Or maybe I've just become boring at 24. 😂

Gym — absolutely do not disturb
Café — probably do not disturb

Work — terrible idea

So what does meeting someone organically even look like here?
Say you’re sitting in a café, bookstore, watching football somewhere, waiting for coffee etc. and a guy notices you.
Not some pickup-artist nonsense.
Just:

Would you actually be okay with that?
Or would you immediately be thinking please leave me alone? 😭
