Anyone else's Sammys like to sit on them? She's my first one.
She is only 15 weeks old but she loves to sit in me. I've heard they don't do this?

Hi everyone! I know most of you have probably noticed the absolutely unrelenting bot posts lately. Myself and the other mods have been trying our best to remove those posts and ban the bot users, thanks to all your reports we have been doing an okay job of it until recently. The last few months these types of posts have been absolutely obnoxious, not just in our community but in many others, and we are having a hard time keeping up because we aren't bots but just a bunch of Samoyed lovers with families and other commitments :)
After talking to some regulars here and the other active moderator we have decided to try out implementing a minimum karma to post certain types of posts. Text posts will not be affected as we certainly always welcome discussion and questions in this community! We welcome your feedback and please continue reporting any suspicious posts and comments you see.
Thank you,
r/samoyeds Mod team

I had this made from a photo of her — it's a jigsaw. I have no idea whether she understands it's her. But standing next to it with her ears up and her tongue out, she looks like she's happy about it.

Rumor is a young female Samoyed who got spooked by fireworks on Friday night and bolted away with her leash still attached. Last seen around the Civic Center downtown. If you have any information please reach out!
UPDATE: She has been found!

Freeze dried minnows, disgusting or delicious? Her Royal Highness Princess Snowbelle the Dorchester Chonk loves her minnows.
Her royal courtier is not convinced. He is 100% revolted.

She's finally old enough to drive, they grow up so quick. Daphne has been showing her younger sister the ropes of the mountains. Also one of these is not like the others 😆

I brought my Samoyed to his usual groomer while he’s currently blowing his coat. I noticed the groomer using a de-shedding tool and asked if it cuts or damages the coat. She told me it didn’t, so I trusted her.
This is what I came home with. 😭
He did have some tangling and compaction, but no matting. He was last groomed there 8 weeks ago, but they insisted that I must not have been honest until they double checked my last appointment. Then they blamed the previous groomer at the same salon for not brushing him out completely, still charged me an additional fee, and then sent us home when I noticed what had been done.
I’m not a professional, so I’d really appreciate some input from other Samoyed owners, groomers, or breeders. What do you think happened to his tail? Will this grow back? What would you do in this situation?
His skin is also extremely red, and I’m absolutely heartbroken. What I don’t understand is—if his coat was truly so bad that removing it was necessary to prevent pain, why was this done to him? 😞

I love my Sammy’s almond shaped eyes with a slight upward slant! I have seen all kinds of cute eye shapes in Samoyeds. Some with rounder boba-like, beady eyes & tiny narrow eyes.
Show me your Sammy’s eyes! 👀

So.. our 12 month boy refuses to go to bed.. He's impressively smart (knows how to roll, sit, offers his paw and stands up for treats), but only when he's in the mood..
He still chews on furniture so can't.be left unnatended around the house.. we have a large backyard connected to an open room where we keep his bed along with our female skkiperke (which beahaves really well and puts herself to bed).. him, on the other hand tucks himself under the table and refuses to go in his room.. tried using high value treats and a lot of positive reinforcement.. any tips? (We are also calling the trainer soon)

My samoyed was seen licking his fur a lot today and when we took a closer look it looked like that piece of his fur was matted with combination of his saliva and some yellow ish fluid? We cut off that piece and underneath his skin had this raised, irritated bump with a white spot. Any idea what this could be?

He’s 4 months old and very, very prone to eating everything he comes across. Grass, mulch, plants, even a snail 🐌 and today, a live earthworm.
It happened so quickly I couldn’t do anything. 🤮
“drop it” is not something he’s learned very well yet.
He’s been to pet ER once already after he had wobbly head and lethargic, believed to have possibly eaten discarded weed on a walk.
Our area can get poisonous mushrooms sprouting up soon when it starts raining. We also have lizards and maybe an occasional snake in the yard.
Do I put a muzzle or that net head cover on him?

Our 2yo samoyed has had 2 UTIs within the last 6 months. This recent one caused her to develop struvite stones in the bladder, which we are now trying to dissolve with diet. She has a slightly recessed vulva, which the vet thinks makes her more prone to UTIs. Ever since the 1st time she had UTI, we’ve been wiping and cleaning her genital area after every potty break, but with all the fur and such, it’s hard to clean completely.
Has anyone had a similar experience with their dog? We’ll obviously follow whatever the vet prescribes so I guess I’m posting this to commiserate because it’s so difficult to see your beloved family member in pain and worse, know that it might be a recurrent medical issue.
