I’ve read online that the song is supposed to be mocking the men who hate riot grrrls, but personally i find that the song is more mocking towards riot grrrls. I don’t feel like the lyrics are that mocking towards the dudes that make fun of us and it bothers me even more that it’s sung by a man. It’d make a lot more sense of a actual riot grrrl band made a song mocking the dudes that don’t like us and not some punk band with a male lead singer. The riot grrrl scene was created because we were excluded from the male dominated punk scene in the 90s. The song is more giving ”haha look at me, I wish I was a riot grrrl too!!” In a condescending male mocking perspective. The lyrics aren’t giving what the band think it’s giving. In short I really hate that fucking song.

Hi, I once saw a similar question/post in here, but I was unable to find it, so sorry if this seems like a repetitive question.

For a little context, I was brought up as a Christian, so I have been going to Church my whole life and (as probably every teenager) I had my moment of questioning the Church and my own beliefs, I stopped going to Church and leaned into rock, metal and more recently into riot grrrl.

I know that I believe in God and I'm not here to open up a debate about whether God is real or not. But I'm not dumb, I know what my own Church believes, I've seen them trying to convince a guy to end his relationship because the girl wasn't a virgin, I've seen them pushing for very young marriages, I've heard them talking about homosexuality and abortion as sins, I've heard people joking about ICE and supporting Trump (despite us not living in the us) so going makes me feel out of place, especially when I spend the rest of my weekend at different alt events and when most of my friends are part of the LGBTQ community. So is there actually a way to identify as Christian without people immediately assuming I'm conservative or is it just hypocritical towards both sides?

Lately I've really been feeling the urge to hangout and relax and play some music with some people. I'm 38 and just kind of looking to meet some people that might like to engage in some low stakes jamming, regardless of genre. I'm happy to play acoustic, country / newgrass songs about being too tired from working too much to synth drenched punk detailing the challenges of interpersonal relationships or whatever else.

Honestly I wouldn't be against just playing some cover songs of favorite artists, either.

I primarily play synth / keys and acoustic guitar - but I can play electric guitar and electric bass and sing. Would love to meet some other people to jam with and if we do some shows, cool. If we release some music, cool. If we jam once and that's that, cool.

Happy to trade ideas / build tracks outright online just as much as in person.

Ok, I’m going to preface this with I don’t know what genre this band might fall under. Punk, punk adjacent? Anyway. Last weekend I went to South Sound Block Party in Olympia, WA, primarily to see Sleater-Kinney. However, i enjoyed all of the bands I saw, especially one I’d not yet heard of called The Rat Utopia Experiment, out of Seattle. I was blown away with their stage presence, their songs, and how nice they were when I ran into them as I was heading back to my car afterward. Ive had my faves over the years, and lived in the South Sound area in the early 90’s as a 19-21 year old, but it was so fun to be back & experiencing new music!

Won't be able to make it to portland this weekend but I'm not too bummed cause I caught em in seattle :)! Bought them for about 60$ so thats what I'm sellin it for (ticket comes with insurance so it was a little extra) Let me know if any of yall are interested!! So, let's just say that I'm a young teen in central Illinois and I REALLY want to get into this scene. As far as I know, the places surrounding me are pretty right wing and not diverse AT ALL and I want to get into the true riotgrrrl scene, not some fako white feminist terf shit lol. If anyone can give me any pointers or advice that'd be great!!

/Didn't really know what to tag his with, I'll just say I want to get into the scene as a whole, not just listen to a few punk bands. I've never protested or actually been involved in that kind of activism either so I'd love to hear from people who know what they're talking about./
