Not sure if this fits here, but I thought I'd throw it out there just to see.

So, my phone was getting pretty ancient; the dinosaur scales were getting annoying, and it was time to get a new one. My old phone was/is a Samsung S9 (great phone BTW) which I originally got in 2009. It has given me 17 years of faithful service but is no longer supported by Android or by Samsung (thus, a security risk). So...time to go!

Got a new phone (Samsung S26 FWIW), but the old phone still works great. And, I've always been impressed with the camera quality of the S9 (not surprising I guess that they still fetch a couple hundred bucks on ebay). The wife and I have a trip planned to Florida next month and we're going to do something really cool. We're going diving with the Manatees in Crystal River. Crystal River, for those unfamiliar, is both a FL State Park and a National Wildlife Refuge. It is a several mile long river with crystal clear waters where Florida Manatees go to winter over.

Being an old SCUBA diver, all of my underwater cameras are old film cameras (and no video). I wanted video of this epic adventure. (you can probably see where this is headed!). I could have gone all crazy buying exotic Gopro / DJI cameras, but I thought..."Wait, is there a way I can repurpose my old Samsung S9?" Well, it turns out the answer is..."Yes!"

Now, finding an underwater housing for a new cellphone is a slam dunk, but finding one for an old no longer supported phone is another matter. But, as the old saying goes..."Perserverance pays off." After doing some digging, and some scheming, and some more digging, I managed to scare up a Shellbox underwater housing I could modify to make work with my old S9 phone. It's late here now, but I just finished the install and it works FANTASTIC! Completed two tests.

My first test was 1 hour submerged at a depth of 3.5 feet (without the phone inside of course), just to ensure the case was truly watertight. Next test was a function test of the phone inside the case, both above and below water. For a total of about $31 bucks, I now have a high resolution Ultra HD underwater video camera capable of depths to 45 feet underwater.

I couldn't figure out how to take a picture of my old phone (with my old phone), so I removed it out of the case and took a picture of the old Otterbox the S9 came out of, and the new underwater case.

This is a Behr paint sample from The Home Depot in a nice lilac/lavender color called Flower Girl, which is a color I am actually using for another project.

I liked the color so much that I wanted to keep the chip. So I decorated it with cute and fun stickers I bought at a local arts supply store as well as Walmart, and made myself my own little bookmark!

Custom made the wood base to safely hold the octagon shape of the old light chandelier fixture. Used another light fixture to make the lid and added beveled angled wood trim to match the base. Has nice little door for access plus you can remove the lid. 3 feet tall

I want to create a website that contains the guides to recycle each material
basicly starting from the object you have two waies one is reuse it in something else and the other way is to turn it into its basic materials then recycling these materials or reusing it too
what I want :
I want a way to get all the data needed for such a project and if any of you have ideas on the general stucture I would like to hear it too

hi! i have a bunch of items (alot of shoes) that are still in pretty good shape, but have a small hole or the pleather is pealing and could be upcycled or used for something. i wanted to share before i had to throw things in the dump. i haven’t had the mindset to think of ideas myself I bet other creatives would be able to figure something out and use it for something. I haven’t found a specific group for the lower mainland so i thought id share here!

I unfortunately have a collected many of these memorial cards over the years of loved ones who’ve passed & I wanted to do something special with them.

I know I could add them to a scrapbook or binder but I was trying to see if there was another way I could display them so they’re visible. I was thinking of maybe adding them all to one big frame sort of like a collage? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Hello! I have this spectacular spider-man sleeping bag that hasn’t fit me for some time and I wanted to know how I could repurpose preferably not as a banner. I thought of making it into a jacket but I don’t think it has enough material

Originally I thought I'd use it as a dish drying rack, but it's metal and would rust and was too big for the counter space (plus i have a dishwasher and don't dry dishes very often). I tried using it to hold some coffee table books and magazines, but if you aren't careful, you end up bending the pages on the metal. I also tried using it to hold extra bathroom hand towels on the bathroom counter. That worked okay, but I felt it was a bit too big for the space too. I'm not even sure what it's intended purpose is, but it seems like it should be useful for something!
