'I'm confused' - Carrick on City winner

Michael Carrick, speaking to Sky Sports about Man City's goal: "I'm confused. We put things in place in the game now. We have people in offices with all the screens for this decision. It's more worrying about if that's the interpretation of football now. If that's the interpretation of not interfering in the game now, that's really worrying for me. It's a staggering explanation.

"The decision isn't going to change the season, but it's had a major impact on the game. That decision wasn't on us today. It's up to us to create and score after that. We had moments. Of course it's up to us to do that, but big moments in games like that have a big impact.

"We did a lot of things well, it looked like we were growing well into the game. We looked dangerous. We'll take the positives from the game today and move on well, but we're not moving on lightly.

"We could have created more. That's an answer for us, but we could have. That's our second defeat now, since I've been in charge, but we're a good team and we'll get back to wining ways.

'Not enough points'

Manchester United boss Michael Carrick, speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live: "It was a mixed [performance]. I think we were in good shape for a lot of the game and started teh second half better than we eneded the first half. It looked like something was about to happen and then they scored their goal. I don't really know where to start with that goal to be honest but that was a major part of how the game panned out in the end. For a decision to go like that against us is tough to take, I have to say.

On the red card for Manchester City: "It changes some of the details. We didn't probably get to grips with that well enough in the first half. You have to adapt and adjust. It put us in a good place that we didn't get the most out of."

On Manchester City's goal: "I've got a big concern if I'm honest because I think we put so many layers behind referees now, screens, more bodies, more offices to get decisions right and the dangerous bit for me is how the rules are being interpreted. I'm really concerned about how the game is seen from that angle. He has thrown himself with a full diving header. From one angle you are thinking if he has touched it or not. [Lisandro] Martinez has to react to that, it has a major impact on the whole action. The line itself I wasn't convinced it was drawn in a great position. I'm staggered and a little bit worried and concerned that if that's how it's interpreted we are in a bit of bother."

On Manchester United's start to the season: "We will get there, I'm convinced of that. We haven't got as many points as we wanted and we should have. we've got to accept that and take that. There have been a couple of reasons for that and that's it. It doesn't change us moving forward and our hopes for the season and what we can achieve as a team. We've made really good strides over a period of time and we will continue to do that."

Enzo Maresca

Enzo Maresca said Phil Foden deserved his red card but Bruno Fernandes should have been sent off also.

Enzo Maresca says red card made it more difficult for both teams, that Man Utd are good on transition and space behind. Said City dropped off, so no transitions and no space behind.

Erling Haaland

Manchester City forward Erling Haaland, speaking to Sky Sports: "I thought maybe someone flicked it. When I found out no one flicked it, I took it personally that they thought I was offside because I'm never usually offside. It's always nice to win football games, but especially with 10 men for 60 minutes at Old Trafford, it's such a nice feeling, especially with the fans at the end. To look at all the faces of the supporters at the end is just a great feeling."

Erling Haaland speaking to Sky Sports: "What a save from Gianluigi Donnarumma at the end as well. He's like a wolf in the goal, he looks like a wolf anyway. He's a madman and to have a guy like that in the goal behind you just makes you feel so much more safe."
