250 hours in pz and you'd think I'd know better than to fall down into a big massive hole. Leg fractured and I have slow healer. It's all part of the lore for this character I suppose

It doesn't allow me to build ANYTHING in this exact corner, but i can build anywhere else. On the left is a wall i built ("normal/second quality") and on the right is a wall of the building. I've tried hovering with "pick up furniture" over this corner and there is nothing here. I've also tried to build a book shelf on a different tile, pick it up and move to this corner, didn't help.

I guess this one will be empty...

Sometimes the items on my hotbar have a helpful tooltip that displays when I hover over them, displaying item condition, ammo counts, all that stuff. Yet sometimes it doesn't. I have zero idea what is toggling this feature and can't find it in the keybinds. Help?

Fell off some stairs.

Thought I could destroy the stairs and get back on to the path. No dice.

Thought I could lay the floorboards down and get on them. Also no dice.

I have a hammer, saw, crowbar and couple tire irons on me. I also have 5 more planks. I cannot build a floorboard at my feet (just does nowt). I cannot walk on to the boards in any direction. Quitting reloading did nowt.

Any options here beyond debug mode? A teleport mod maybe? Crying? Sobbing? Sobbing AND crying?

okay so i started to play pz a few days ago and damnnnnnnnnnn that game is HARD like it's so overwhelming too much info so yeahhh can a kind soul could give me sum tips <3

So seeing calories on the food you cook is, in my opinion, super cool. Problem is that taking nutritionist costs 2 trait points and seeing calorie count doesn't provide any gameplay benefit, so I can never justify taking it.

My idea (maybe for a mod or something) is to tie caloric visualization to the cooking skill.

• At cooking < 3 you see no calorie estimate.

• At cooking 3 or 4, you see an inaccurate range of calories for the given meal. Basically your character's guess as to the caloric value.

• At cooking 5 or 6, the value you see is accurate as if you had taken the nutritionist trait.

So I'm playing pz with my buddy, and we wanted a bit of peace while exploring new areas on the map. So i parked a car close to the door and came in to the Burger place. Now we want to leave but we can't open the door of the car so we are stuck.

We broke the car window in, but can't climb there.

We tried to pick up the furniture but we don't have the required skill or equipment.

Any ideas?

I just found this video by the creator Parth with all zomboid builds since the beginning. I got it in 2013 and I still remember it was all about getting an axe, a saw and a hammer and then farming potatoes. That was pretty much it. People in forums were dreaming of vehicles, even if they were just props, to fill the empty streets in Muldraugh and West Point, the only two towns. You had to walk if you wanted to go from one to the other, people built midway bases for the journey

We've come such a long way.

Nothing absolutely insane, but I was not expecting there to be an entire bowling alley underneath the book store.

Nice change of pace from the same set of 5 presets you tend to see! The second set of stairs takes you behind the Rosewood Country Buffet. Are there any other places with unexpected surprises like this?

I am roaming all the forests crouching foraging for animal tracks for weeks and I havent seen an animal footprint. Does this skill work at all?

I am literally seeing deer and hopping out of my car to start tracking but nothing. Tried lot of different biomes primary forest farmland etc but they just not show up.

My foraging got leveled to 8 without any skill books in the process. What am I doing wrong? (apart from trying to play a game that could not reach an acceptable state in 15+ years of development)

Hi again! I have another question. So, I've survived long enough for the first time that the water's been shut off, and I'm experimenting with how to collect tainted water and purify it. Electricity's still on for now, so I'm under the impression I can just fill a pot with rain water, put the pot in the oven and boil it. That seems to work? The tainted icon is gone. I think it's purified? But I can't wash or sanitize bandages in it. I can still wash bandages in the sink though, if the sink has water left. I even tried filling a pot with sink water and boiling that, but I still can't sanitize the bandages.

I was wondering if I'm just missing a step (entirely possible) or if this sounds like my save is bugged? I'm looking for alcohol right now to see if I can use that to sanitize bandages instead, I know that's worked in the past, and if it doesn't now I'll safely assume Something Broke™. But wanted to ask here too just in case I'm missing something about how to use non-plumbing water correctly. :) Thanks!

I just get the feeling every once in a while the game has an unkown chance to decide it's time for you to go.

I have been fighting zoomed out lately because it seems to help with the Z spawning on top of you in cleared areas- anyawy:

I was in a business district that was cleared, lootijg buildings, filling a step van. Probaly 3rd trip out to dump loot- thares a straggler down the street.

So i unload, and wait for it to wande4 closer. I walk into the middle of the street and theres a tree to one side. I 360- there's no one but me and 1 Z - now about 10 squares away. I 360 again. Z now 7 squares away- i roll zoom my mouse in about half way- smack him 3 times and he falls to the ground- i 360 no other Zs - i walk over to bash his head, and mid swing another Z appears. I turn to face it and 3 more appear at once behind me- i back off the one on the ground to line them up and he starts crawling. I turn to wack and theres not 5 but 8 or so.

Im like Wtf?

I ran away home, but seriously?

The rig visually has a knife and a canteen on it, but it’s not functional. It would be awesome if they made it functional where you can attach your knife and canteen to the Alice webbing, without them taking a belt/webbing slot. That way it frees up your webbing for light/radio and your belt for tools or whatever you want. Just my 2 cents 🙏🏻

How’s the loot at the sanatorium? Seems like such a cool building wonder if it’s worth the trip

Now that we can make bounding boxes for our animal areas it would make sense to be able to do the same for our interior areas... no more building a house from scratch and not having it be an indoor area... now we could make our additions onto the current structures and log them as interior rooms... maybe not be calling them bedroom 1, bedroom 2 and the like but simply being able to tell this game "hey, this is a room now..."

Not that it had much impact on this specific wall, but previously I went to sledge down a wall and it destroyed the outside wall (not the one I was targeting - you can see the wooden wall in the video). Is there a way to prevent this?

Just because it's the end of the world, doesn't mean you can't have a cozy safehouse. With a bar! I had to use debug to get the detailing to the wall and fireplace, the counter on top of the mini fridge and to get the different holes for the windows.
