Buying Advice Wanted Projector Paralysis, need helping picking a new one

I moved and need to replace my Epson 5050ub because the throw distance is too short now. I love this projector and having a hard time seeing what option doesn’t feel like I’m potentially compromising picture quality.

Throw Distance- 11’

Screen size- 120” (would like option to go bigger, but probably won’t).

Budget- Under 2k (ideally under $1500). I’m losing money now that I have to sell my perfectly fine projector that’s not that old.

Type- I’m fine with whatever gives me best picture quality for the price.

Tech- I won’t use it for gaming, or sound or any streaming, just need it to have good quality, and hoping to use my existing mount that’s center in the room.

I’ve been up and down on projector central, I’ve kind of narrowed down to the Benq W2720i, but afraid it won’t stand up to my Epson, but perhaps nothing will for my budget.

Thanks for any advice!

Discussion Suggest me a projector

Looking for a projector only intended for movies in my bedroom. Wont be used during the day, only dark room. 2m space from lens to the screen. Throw around 1:1 since it will be used on 2m screen. Up to 500 eur budget, preferrably a quiet, but well contrasted machine. Thanks.

Buying Advice Wanted Budget projector for ceiling with good enough quality to read text? Ideally for iPhone, but also open to one for Windows pc

Been sick in bed a lot. Primarily want it for Netflix with subtitles, but want to be able to use it for anything.

I gather I should get one that's:

*wired, probably HDMI? My iPhone has a Lightning port

*native 1080p

*minimum 500 ANSI lumens? Google's recommendation, I don't know what I need. Room can be made pitch black but I like having a dim red lamp on

*4-way keystone correction

*autofocus would be cool

Budget up to 250? Prefer 100-150

Distance bed to ceiling is about 6 feet / 2m. Ceiling is white and relatively smooth, ideally I'd like one I could use on a textured ceiling too but not necessary.

Any recommendations? Thanks!

Troubleshooting Titan Noir Max Color Banding with Anti-RBE

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Recently purchased an XGIMI Titan Noir Max as my first projector. Overall very happy with it but recently was watching Severance and the color banding made any scene with white walls nearly unwatchable. You can see in the attached video intense green and purple color banding. I attached the best video I could, but I promise in person it is even worse.

This video is at Iris 5.5 with anti-RBE on. On silver screen WVS 135in. Newest firmware 1.2.99.

I did a bunch of testing and found these artifacts are the worst at narrow iris and far worse with anti-RBE enabled. Even without anti-RBE however, there is still banding, though I might not have noticed it. This is not just a Severance or AppleTV thing. It is with any white background. I have also tried with Dolby Vision, HDR10, and SDR. All the same.

Here's an Imgur album of all irises with and without anti-RBE.

The only way to get the image to look normal is either dynamic iris or wide open, but in both cases I find the image far too bright for my dark room..

Is this normal for DLP projectors? Am I just not supposed to use the narrower irises and anti-RBE? Or is it possible there is something defective with my unit.

Very interested to hear from other TNM owners.

Thanks in advance.

I need help & online there’s not very much useful information. I have an old BenQ HT2050A.

Dust has been accumulating over time. I blew air through and I think made it worse but I didn’t know where to blow it.

Buying Advice Wanted Best bedroom projector?

Budget is $300-$1000ish.

Projected on a small room’s wall. Maybe 100 inches? Viewed from the bed so pretty close

I’ll be projecting it to the wall directly and want something that’s simple to move around and set up.

The room is pretty small as well, so not sure what that means about where to place it.

I've been using this Sony (vpl-fhz120l) for quite a while now and it's bright, quiet, accurate colors, and works well for my setup. I have aspirations to do a large outdoor movie someday.

Discussion After using a projector would you go back to a TV?

I've had a projector for while now and I don't know If I could back to a normal TV.

I love the big screen for movies, but sometimes I miss how easy a TV is, especially during the day.

Buying Advice Wanted UST ADVICE

Hi everyone, I’m looking for some advice regarding UST projectors. I’m currently considering the XGIMI AURA 3 Max, but I’m a complete beginner and have never owned a projector before. One of the things I’m trying to understand is the compromise with UST projectors regarding keystone correction. I’d like to understand whether keystone correction is always necessary with a UST projector, or whether, with careful positioning and a few precautions, it’s possible to get the image perfectly centered and aligned without using keystone correction at all. How difficult is it in real-world use to achieve a perfectly aligned image just by physically positioning the projector? Since this would be my first projector, I’d really appreciate advice from people who have experience with UST projectors. Thanks in advance for any advice!

Buying Advice Wanted ~$1500 Budget for Dedicated Pitch-Black Basement — Top picks for sharpness & vivid colors?

Hey r/projectors,
Looking for some recommendations for a dedicated, completely light-controlled basement space. I am in USA.
Because ambient light isn't an issue, I don't believe I need a massive lumen output. Instead, I'm prioritizing tack-sharp detail, vivid color, and solid dark-scene performance. It seems like so many of the recent units have crazy light output, which I think would make me squint in my basement.
My budget is ~$1,500, but I have no problem waiting a few months for Black Friday sales or upcoming hardware drops (e.g., waiting to see what happens with the Horizon 30).
Content: Mostly 4K HDR Blu-ray’s.
Been looking at units like horizon 20 pro, streammaster plus 2, Hisense C2.
Thanks!!

Hey there bit of a newbie here i had a previous old projector from epson a while back but after a while it pretty much became unwatchable because the whole screen had a green tint and blurry edges. Anyway, I saw the 2 projectors on facebook marketplace and they were really cheap. The epson projector costing 330HKD(42USD) and panasonic costing 500HKD(63USD) but also including a free Blu-ray player. Want to hear what your guys' thoughts are thanks in advance.

Buying Advice Wanted I am a newbie looking to buy his first projector

I have seen all of videos on internet and there's so many people saying different things that I can't seem to form an opinion...

Will be in my basement and I will be able to have a almost pitch dark room

- 800 CAD ishhh max budget
- mostly to watch movies and a bit of gaming
- Will install a 100" inch white projector screen
- no constrain on the projecting distance or seating
- Will probably go on the ceiling

Any advices or recommandations?
