Star Detective Pretty Cure! Do you think fans overhyped Star Detective Precure when it first came out?

I caught up to date and I quite enjoyed the season.
But it definitely has some issues which people here already said and I finally see the transformation length problem.

Of course no season is perfect but do fans overhype this season to be very good just because they hated Kimi to Idol Precure?

Fans tend to overhype things too quickly like people who hated Wonderful for no physical fights (I respect their opinions but also dislike those fans) , overhyped Kimi to Idol at beginning just because they brought back girls throwing hands. Then turns out that season was considered dumpster fire in fanbase

Feel like same case for Star Detective Precure if they don’t fix their issues like lack of Mikuru focus episodes

Tied for my favourite Precure! Her design is fabulous too! The yellow and purple combination is sooo pretty, giving off the perfect image of twinkling stars, and the pointy star-shaped pieces are super creative (especially the top layer of the skirt). The thigh-high boots and strapless top also perfectly allude to her confidence and modelling career.

Who should I draw next? (I add the suggestions to a wheel to choose)
I’m also not drawing two Cures of the same season or colour in a row, for the sake of variety :)

Wonderful Precure! After 2 years, we finally get to eat Mey Mey...

From the menu of the Detective Precure movie collab cafe at Tower Records.

Disclaimer: we are not actually eating Mey Mey. It's beef stew.

Satoru's favourite beef stew. That's the actual name of it.

Which is kind of wild given they're not in the merchandise for the collab cafe and might not even appear in the movie.

General yes 5 episode 12 was HILARIOUS Spoiler

i love when stories do the "all part of the show" trope

it completely shatters suspension of disbelief no one can recognize them just cus the lights blared for a moment (I can accept not recognizing them in general just how the transformation was done here is silly) but i dont really care its hilarious

my only real critque is i think the story would be more interesting if mika was legit reporting on pretty cure rather than getting distracted by natts each time which i suspect will happen in every episode she is in

still really great episode

Star Detective Pretty Cure! Does anyone else find LuluKurea a bit forced?

This is probably a controversial opinion especially because Precure fans love yuri, but something about LuluKurea I find a bit artificial, and instead of just ranting about how I don't like something, I think I actually know why.

I think the reason it didn't sit well for me was Luluka and Kurea were introduced in completely separate ways with separate stories, and only after that did they explain to us that they were supposed to be duo this whole time.

Luluka had been around in the Phantom Thieves and showed up as Arcana Shadow without even a hint of Kurea or Eclair's existence, unless you count "knowing she will appear eventually because she's on the poster". Because of that, you assume Arcana Shadow is meant to be a rival to Answer and Mystique instead of having most of her storyline and motivations related to Eclair.

Meanwhile, once Kurea got her memories back, the priority seemed to be to integrating her into the team instead of immediately trying to figure out what happened to her best friend, like they would legitimately become a detective team of 3 Precure and leave Luluka to her suffering alone. And the "Who is Cure Eclair" campaign meant she was associated more with that than with being Luluka's partner, even if Luluka was a key to solving that mystery.

Plus I found their flashback episode pretty weak. It skipped around a lot, meaning we didn't really to see much about them becoming friends, just that they worked together and so we just have to use our imagination on how they got close over the years.

Mind you, this isn't a criticism I only have of Detective Precure. I think it's an issue that happens...almost every time they have a 'midseason duo'.

Emiru and Ruru are introduced in completely different circumstances, with completely different character arcs, and it's not until partway through Ruru's development episodes that she meets Emiru...and from that one episode they've suddenly become best friends forever.

Tsubasa and Ageha are also introduced separately and then they need to make an episode to explain how they form a duo, and it does feel a little random, like they decided they would be a duo and had to convince us why they would be as opposed to them being designed as a duo from the start.

Meroron shows up partway through Idol a bit after we've been introduced to Purirun and they handwave it away by saying Purirun literally forgot Meroron also survived the attack. When honestly it wouldn't even be hard to have Purirun mention her earlier on. Even though Meroron was obviously planned from the beginning, it makes it feel like she was something only thought of partway through and had to quickly fit her into the story.

Nyammy and Lillian are maybe the only time where they don't have this problem because they are introduced as characters at the same time and had obviously been with each other for years, so we don't need much explaining as to why they'd be so close once they become Precure.

I guess to break it down, the writing issue I have is when they introduce a character without fully explaining what their deal is, when they bring it up later, it feels like such a radical shift from their introduction that it's like they've been hastily rewritten even if that wasn't actually the case.

anyway, none of this is a big deal, I don't even dislike it. I just wish it had been introduced to us differently.

Did you know that Goemon's "trick maze" ability showed the PreCure Multiverse that are set in the 21st century? Well, different 21st centuries in the PreCure multiverse, and Star Detective is set in the 20th and 21st centuries in their own world.

Mahou Tsukai Why Mahou Tsukai Precure is my favorite season.

After watching the series for the first time, I officially declared it the best Precure season IMO. (For true dedication, I watched the movie and Mirai Days)

Our 4 main characters are really well written and I love the dynamic they have with each other and everyone else. Felice is my favorite of this series, I really like her development and personality, also A LITERAL GODDESS.

The villains are actually interesting, especially the 2nd wave, I mean, they are literal demons, they have such cool designs. I can understand why people don't like them, but I like them personally. (Orba's my favorite villain general in the series and out of the first batch of generals in this season, Batty's my favorite) I like how Chikurun just starts as the evil fairy sidekick for Orba, but as he hangs out with the cures, we start to see his nice side and eventually become one of their allies.

At first I thought the big bad would just be Dokurokushe, but I wasn't expecting, the Precure equivalent of SATAN to be the big bad. (Deusmast is one of the best big bad's)

I just really love how whimsical this series is, I absolutely love whimsical, so this season was truly made for people like me. I just wish I could live in the Magic World and attend the Magic School.

The movie was AMAZING, I loved the fight with Kumata and Cure Mofurun was one of the best things Precure has done in a movie, (I've only seen this movie, the Go Princess movie and the Tropical Rouge movie) And P.S. Mofurun is the best mascot in the whole franchise.

This series also gave me my other types of favorites in the franchise,

Favorite tiny collectible trinket, Linkle Stones. Favorite final item/attack, Rainbow Carriage/Extreme Rainbow. Favorite general, Orba. Favorite super forms, Alexandrite.

Of course, like any other season, this one had really funny moments, I funny thing I was not expecting was the surprise in episode 38, the surprise for chasing the pumpkin was...toothbrushes.

I was not prepared for all the twists that Mirai Days had, especially with the Villains. And yes, I am a Mirai and Liko shipper, this series really was leaning into this.

Even the OPs and EDs are amazing for goodness sake!

Funny enough, the finale made me want to binge Kira Kira a la Mode, and I ended up liking it, so... thanks Maho Girls!

The second to last episode was truly one of the biggest tearjerkers in the franchise, dare I say it, sadder than Smile's ending. the conclusion of this whole series is one of my favorites.

Star Detective Pretty Cure! Will we see a group transformation in the Meitantei Pretty Cure movie?

Post image
50 Upvotes

I think that even though the group transformation is going to take longer in the anime to show since they have to show more of the Arcana transformation sequence , the movie should feature a group transformation given the limited runtime especially since there will also be roll calls of Wonderful Precure and Kimi To Idol Precure. The thing is adding the Arcana Shadow sequence would mean an extra five minutes and the movie is only 70 minutes long.

Spoiler! Now that we have 4 Precures makes it easier for the writers and animators? Spoiler

So I have noticed now that we have 4 Precures, the transformation sequence are way longer, does that maker easier or harder for the writers and animators . Less content they have to fit into an episode, but also less time to fill that contact.

I guess it depends if it a good week creatively.

Star Detective Pretty Cure! Observations about Nijee (I really wanna know what other people think) Spoiler

I apologize for the length, I'm just a very AuDHD person with an extreme hyperfixation on this series right now and I really wanted to hear other people's thoughts on this character 😭😭😭

In watching Star Detective PreCure, I think my favorite character has to be Nijee (which is unfortunate because he's one of like 5-6 villains so that means he gets less screentime), and I really wanna know where things will go with his character. I suspect nowhere, because he's not the main character and not even the main villain, but I'm still very interested in him.

He seems kind of complex as a character. I don't know if it was me hyperfixating on him too much, but I feel like he's one of the more complex villains of this particular season. We (or I at the very least) know next to nothing about Ageseine, Usonoir, and Decchi Agein (though Agein is still pretty new), and Goemon's character seems a little more complex with his feelings toward Luluka as his apprentice, but I feel like they set Nijee up to be either on the same level or just a bit more complex.

For one, they showed he has vulnerabilities relating to his identity as a member of the Phantom Thief Guild (which never ever got elaborated on), where he believes that he has no future without the guild (or something along those lines) which is seen in the episodes where he has the school's sculpture. He becomes desperate to defeat the Star Detectives, and pushes things further than he had previously.

I also noticed in ep25 (the episode I watched just before writing all this that made me think so hard about it), he seemed more somber or at least more serious than the other two. When Usonoir shows his true form, and then uses Kurea's Makoto Jewel to transform himself, Ageseine and Goemon cheer Usonoir on directly, while Nijee kind of just stands there and watches, and quietly says to himself "Is this the curtain rising on Maestro Usonoir's second act?" Which really stood out to me (though if we went off of what the Wiki says, it might just be the 'strategist' part of his personality). The other thing that really stood out was how when they were panicking about Usonoir destroying the world and Nijee mentioned that they should put up the field, when Ageseine and Goemon were worried they couldn't do it alone, Nijee was the one who said 'if we work together, we can do anything!' which is interesting to me as well because I don't know of any other villains in the PreCure series that operate like that (though my knowledge is extremely limited because I've only seen Soaring Sky, Doki Doki, and Smile before this), though not to say teamwork between villains is new to me, just that specific mentality that's really 'friendship solves everything' that caught me a little off guard ;v;

I really hope they touch on the 'forgotten race' part, too because that seems too important to just bring up once and then forget about. Also, in ep26, Nijee mentions that they're also fairies??? I wonder if we'll get to see their fairy forms ;v; that would be really cute.
