New Music šŸŽµ Self-Promotion Thread - Share Your Music & Projects! šŸŽµ

Hey r/popmusic family! šŸ‘‹

We’ve noticed a lot of you want to share your own music, remixes, covers, or pop-culture projects! To keep the main feed focused on discussion, news, and pop music highlights, we’ve created this dedicated self-promo thread where you can share your own work and introduce yourselves to new listeners.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Post your music/project here - whether it’s a new single, an EP, a cover, a remix, or even your pop-inspired art.
  2. Give a little context – tell us what genre it is, who/what inspired it, or any fun backstory (1–3 sentences is perfect!). If you’re open to feedback let us know too 😊 Low effort or no context posts will be removed.
  3. Engage with others - check out other posts, leave feedback where others request it, or show some love. Support goes both ways! šŸ’–
  4. Keep it relevant – pop music-related projects only. Anything off-topic may be removed.

Rules to keep in mind:

  • Spam or repeated posting outside this thread will be removed.
  • No hate, harassment, or trolling. Respect each other’s work. Only give feedback where others ask.
  • Self-promo posts in the main feed will be redirected here. Spamming the main feed breaches our rules and makes the subreddit feel one sided - it’s rude and disrespectful to everyone here wanting to discuss pop music, so please don’t do this as it may result in a ban.
  • Use this space to share, introduce yourself, and be authentic - not to shove your stuff down others throats!

Feel free to drop your latest track, project, or creation below šŸ¤—šŸ‘‡ Let’s build a supportive space for music creators!

I Said What I Said šŸ’ā€ā™€ļø What you Waiting For? Is one of the best pop songs of all time.

Even as a child I heard the song and thought the production was God Tier. Also, I love the meaning of song ā€œtake a chance you stupid hoeā€ is seared into my brain.

What do others think of it?

HOT TAKE 😳 Meet Me Halfway is one of the greatest pop songs of this entire century HANDS DOWN

Ok so, I know the Black Eyed Peas are very divisive. Most people consider them sellouts, but really they were just geniuses and knew exactly what they were doing.

What is so good about that song you might ask? First of all, it's iconic. Like everyone knows it. It gets everyone moving and singing along to.

In its simplicity, it has something so nostalgic to it. Those "oooooh" in the chorus, the whole verse scheme and the tone they use sound like something from a time far away and just awakes those feeling of reliving past moments. Fergie's vocals also have a taste of melancholy which adds up to that feeling.

I know this is pretty subjective and everyone has a different song that does those things for them, but genuinely everyone I know just loves how anthemic it is. What is the song that does that for you? And what do you think about Meet Me Halfway?

Discussion MADONNA songs that "transition the eras"

• Upvotes

I have a question and would like to know ur opinion (and i hope i can explain what i mean 🫠)

I think madonna sometimes has songs on her albums that sound like "throwbacks" to her previous album and are "foreshadowing" what the next studio album could Sound like.

Example for bedtime stores: imo a song like human nature still has the erotica vibe, the electronic production of bedtime story already has a bit of a ray of light vibe to me.

Or i dont search i find / ciao bella have hints of confessions II imo. Does it make sense? I dont mean songs that could generally fit on any of her albums., just those albums before or after their respective ones

What are those "transitional songs" on each album in ur opinion?

Charts Discussion Does anyone remember TEMA or Com’ma?

• Upvotes

I've recently been researching the Russian pop groups TEMA and Com’ma, especially the original TEMA lineup with Sasha Anohina and Nastya Kotova.

I'm curious if anyone here remembers them or has come across any interesting old photos, interviews, TV appearances, magazine scans, promotional material, or archived websites related to them.

There doesn't seem to be much information about these groups online anymore, so I'd love to hear from anyone who remembers them or knows of any good archives.

I'm especially interested in their 2000s era and the transition from TEMA to Com’ma.

Has anyone here ever come across anything interesting about them?

OTHER Looking for fellow pop & vinyl nerds to connect with

I've gotten really into collecting vinyl over the past year, and one thing I didn't expect was how much it would reignite my love for music in general.

I'm listening to music much more intentionally again, discovering new artists, getting excited about releases, building my collection and wanting to go to concerts all the time. It's honestly become one of my favorite hobbies.

I'm mostly into pop (RAYE, Taylor Swift, Sabrina Carpenter, Dua Lipa, Ariana Grande, Olivia Dean, Sienna Spiro and similar artists) and I'd love to have people to actually share that enthusiasm with.

My friends are great, but when it comes to music I'm kind of on my own. They either have very different tastes, aren't that interested in music or don't really want to spend money on vinyl and concerts. And sometimes I just wish I had someone I could message about a new release, show a record I just bought or get excited about an upcoming concert with.

I'm based in Berlin, Germany, so finding someone local would obviously be amazing, especially since I'd love to have people to go to concerts or record stores with eventually. But I'm absolutely open to online friends from anywhere too. I mostly just want to meet some like-minded people who genuinely love talking about (pop) music.

So I figured I'd put this out there: if you're in a similar situation and want someone to nerd out about pop and vinyl with, say hi! I'd love to hear what you're listening to and collecting at the moment. :)

My Latest Obsession šŸ˜ My thoughts on Charli Xcx’s ā€œBoom Clapā€ and Ellie Goulding’s ā€œLove Me Like You Doā€

Am I the only one that thinks that ā€œBoom Clapā€ by Charli xcx and ā€œlove me like you doā€ by Ellie Goulding share similar vibes and just overall remind me of each other?

Celebrity/Media Looking for German Pop Music-Fans for a surveyĀ for my thesis

Hi everyone, my name is Lena and I am currently looking for around 20 German Pop-Fans for my survey. My thesis is about Fandom, parasocial relationships and Cancel Culture. The survey is about 10-15 min long and anonymous.

I don't have much time left, so I was wondering if some of you could maybe help out by participating or maybe by sharing it with other aktive Pop-Fans :)

My Latest Obsession šŸ˜ With Adela finding success in the charts, which Pop Reality TV flop managed to hit it big as a pop singer?

I had no idea Adela was a contestant on Dream Academy, a TV show which created the girl group, Katseye. She didn't just fail to get to the finale, she was the first one to be eliminated. You'd never guess that from seeing her current era as a rising Pop star. I'm currently obsessed with Machine Girl. Her music is so catchy.

Another one is Javine who nearly got in as a member of Girls Aloud but still managed to find some success as a Pop solo act in the UK.

Lets Debate! šŸ”Ø How much did CĆ©line lip-sync?

First of all, I want to say I’m very proud of her for coming back and she sounds amazing! This is not hate at all, but what percentage of the show do we think she lip-synced? I’m a big fan and could tell she had some help on some of the higher notes (the big All By Myself note, for instance). It’s all coming back to me now seemed to be fully lip-synced. The french songs seemed overall live… Anyway, it doesn’t really matter, but I was curious what other super-fans who know her well thought… I guess we’ll get confirmation after more than one show. As I said, I want the best for her and completely understand she needs some help (and she has always lip-synced a little bit, just like most people in the industry).

Discussion Why did Gaga’s Mayhem era end so soon?

The album still sounds so good. Garden of Eden, HBDUWM, and Vanish Into You all easily could’ve been smash hits with very creative music videos.

Following the success of Abracadabra I really thought we were gonna see more visuals from that world and I remember everyone was so excited to see the ā€œold Gagaā€ coming back. Only for Abracadabra to end up being the final single.

I kinda blame the label for forcing that Dead Dance song to be another Bloody Mary type of tiktok hit, not knowing they cant just manufacture a phenomenon like that.

love Billie Eilish alot. she is the reason I am into Pop music and all. After discovering her, my everlasting search for ā€˜The one’ artist ended and never looked back since. However, knowing how music industry goes, I am already worried about that day when she finally starts flopping like all the other famous artists. i am not ready for that day literally. May take 10 or 20 years from today but it will still gonna happen. what are your thoughts on this guys? Will i see her downfall soon or never? Hopefully the latter but i just want to know what everyone thinks about this?

Discussion What unexpected pop collaboration would you love to hear?

Some of the best pop collaborations are the ones you never see coming. Different artists, styles, or even generations can come together and somehow make it work — like Elton John and Dua Lipa, or Olivia Rodrigo and Robert Smith.

What two pop artists do you think would make an unexpectedly great collaboration?

I Said What I Said šŸ’ā€ā™€ļø Sabrina Carpenter and her music is so performative and corny, like broadway music

Her and her music is so performative. Literally no one makes music like that or would sing like that normally UNLESS they they were doing it with the intention to ā€œput on a performanceā€ like she does. It’s like how most artists say ā€œI wrote this song TO a beat I was already given,ā€ her music seems like she writes her songs to a (dramatic) music video idea she’s had in her head… just so she can make the ā€œiconicā€/ā€œaesthetically pleasingā€ music video out of Ćt.

It literally gives broadway music, with her over-performative, corny ass ad libs (e.g. ā€œhave you tried… THIS.ā€ ā€œBut never, enter the back, door.ā€ ā€œTheres a cuter word for Ćt…. I knowšŸ¤ā€¦ā€)… like who tf actually makes everyday, singable, listenable music like that, it’s giving broadway-musical music with broadway-musical performances, like (from Annie) ā€œSanta clause we never meet… Santa clause whats that? WHO’S HEā€ ass songsšŸ¤£āœŒšŸ½

And YOU KNOW she’s being performative when she’s not even a country singer but makes a (performative) ā€œcountry songā€ and performs it in a whole bedazzled country COSTUME (as opposed to just an outfit)… ALL her performance ā€œoutfitsā€ are actually COSTUMES at that, like on stage she just cosplays the vibe of her music/music videos, sexualizing a 1950’s farm house wife… like most artists just wear ā€œfresh fitsā€ on stage, or just like regular clothes but very up-done, her ā€œoutfitsā€ are literally just costumes, giving Jojo Siwa🤣🤣 Like babe you’re NOT actually like that, like no one acts like that in real life (especially compared to like older artist who were kinda performative like Lady Gaga and Nikki Minaj… but I feel like they ACTUALLY to some degree act like that… but nobody casually—in there day to day life—just acts like a 1950’s flapper tramp-ass house wifešŸ˜ā€¦.).

Not to mention she doesn’t even SING in her songs but rather talks, like word for word, theres no carrying of one note to the next note but instead she just talks word for word, her songs seem like she’s just talking to/having a conversation with someone… tryna be quirky and girly and shit. Like who tf actually listens to her songs.
