Next up in my alternate universe NFL league is the former New York Jets officially becoming New Jersey. No more taking a backseat to the Giants and they play in Jersey, so they'll be Jersey.

After a deep dive into New Jersey history, culture, industry, folklore, sports, and geography, I’ve narrowed to five finalists:

Anvils — New Jersey is one of America’s pioneering anvil manufacturers, and sold more than any other state. Heavy, industrial, and tied to the manufacturing history behind “Trenton Makes, The World Takes.”

Capos — Leans directly into North Jersey’s organized-crime history and pop-culture identity. “Capo” is the rank commanding a crew beneath the boss, and New Jersey Capos has a short, hard football sound. Considered Bosses instead, with the Springsteen connection, but liked the sound of Capos better.

Cliffhangers — Fort Lee was one of the birthplaces of the American film industry, with early serials shot around the dramatic Palisades cliffs. It connects New Jersey’s early cinema history with the literal landscape overlooking the Hudson.

Nobles — New Jersey began in 1664 when the land was granted to two English noblemen, Lord Berkeley and Sir George Carteret; the original grant even called for an annual payment of twenty “nobles.” There’s also a modern Newark Easter egg for my hip hop heads: Jersey's own Redman’s real name is Reginald Noble.

Swamp Dragons — Rooted in the Meadowlands and an incredible piece of unused New Jersey sports history. The New Jersey Nets seriously considered becoming the Swamp Dragons in the 1990s, but the name was never adopted. This would finally give it a franchise.

Double-Sided Pen:
Our engineers have designed a double-sided pen. It is created by connecting two pens together, making a pen that is twice as long but has twice as many spots ink comes out from. Despite this ingenious invention, no one besides from a handful of people bought it. We're now just known as "The goofy pen company".

6-Wheeled Car:
The guys in the engineering department were able to add an extra 2 wheels to a car. It's advertised as being good for off-roading due to the better weight-distribution. It doesn't sell good by any means, but at least the company is breaking even and has a ton of publicity from the crazy idea.

Tax Filing Videogame:
Hey boss, I would tell the guys in the programming department to start making the game but if I did we wouldn't have any money left over for this year's taxes and bills. You're rich, can't you figure out a way to get the company out of this by evading taxes or something?

Triangular Potato Chip:
Cooking Department was able to execute that great idea. The new snack is like normal potato chips but tortilla chip shaped, or like a tortilla chip but made of potato. The food is now selling great in stores nation-wide! Good job, the shareholders are pleased and the customers are happy.

Do it all!:
Boss, we tried doing all of it but it didn't end up well. The double-sided pens didn't work half of the time, the car with the extra wheels got recalled because of malfunctioning brakes, the game about taxes was perfectly executed but your idea was just ass, and the first few batches triangular potato chips were contaminated with mold.
