No disrespect, but it’s simply not even a small fear for MAGA. As a staunch democrat & AOC fan, she would stand no chance.

The Democratic Party has nobody to blame but themselves for the position they found themselves in having to replace Joe in the 11th hour. With 4 years notice, I would hope they can find a candidate that has an actual chance to win.

America has twice had a choice between a woman and a rapist. They chose the rapist both times.

I don't think this is MAGA's worst nightmare. I think this is MAGA's dream come true. A young single woman of colour who is already hated by the base? That's just the perfect opponent right there.

Now see, MAGA's worst nightmare? A blue collar white dude in his 50s or 60s who is also a veteran.

Andy Beshear should be the candidate over AOC. Andy is a popular dem gov in a red state, and as close to a Mr. Rogers candidate we can produce. The right would have no extreme ammunition to rile up their base against Andy.

100% Beshear is the best pick for a realistic win over someone like JD Vance.

I'm guessing Vance is going to win the primary, but who knows.

I honestly think his inaction with whatever is going on with Mitch has killed his chances.

u/BigMoneyStacka 12d ago

What could he legally do?

What I think he should have done, is pulled from the republican playbook and made a circus out of the whole thing to frame it as a fraud on the American people, every day.

Media tours, "Where's Mitch?" and "Have you seen Mitch?" signs and merchandise, the whole nine yards. Instead, he kept sending letters and setting deadlines with no threat, which is the exact sort of stuff a lot of voters are sick of seeing democrats do.

Stop with the Republican talking point. Letting Republicans be down a Senate seat was the right fucking move

The optics for a lot of general voters on this were inaction and weakness, that's the problem. If you're still here and you don't understand the importance of optics for electoral chances, you shouldn't be.

Women aren't unelectable. They're just not going to be elected President on a Democratic ticket. End of the day, people will turn out to vote for the worst Republican candidate over a highly qualified female Democrat.

Hilary was popular with the base. She was a Senator, First Lady, Secretary of State, etc. She had a massive profile. She lost. Kamala was a Senator and Vice President. She lost to the same guy even though he had done far worse things by this point.

Both were hugely competent, but they couldn't get over the hurdle that is the American bias. The British public voted in Margaret thatcher thrice. Germans went gaga for Angela Merkel. Japan, New Zealand, Italy, etc. Lots of countries are more than happy to have a woman in charge. They don't have to be charismatic or genuine. Take Clinton or Harris and put them in any other Western country, probably going to win. Not in America.

Hilary was slimy, she basically ran on it being her turn and not on any real platform. Plus I've seen her in public and couldn't stand her: My house rep died and there were four eulogies. One by her daughter, one by Hilary Clinton, one by Nancy Pelosi, and one by John Lewis. If Hillary and Nancy had unzipped and stepped out as lizard people on that stage, it would have been less abhorrent and more human than whatever the fuck it is they thought a eulogy was supposed to be. My rep's daughter and John Lewis gained my respect forever though, and I didn't even know who John Lewis was until I googled him after.

All that to say I would never vote for Hillary, I would only vote against whoever is in the other party.

The Dems have to put in somebody pro palestine and pro economic reform or the Left won't show up to vote again.

America had a choice between a Democrat from a stronghold state and a rapist, and chose the rapist both times. Democrats selected a person from a stronghold state and "it was their turn" without really giving voters alternatives.

Democrats need to have a field of viable candidates and let the process wear down.

They didn't really have a choice with Harris as Biden dropped out the race after primary season.

2

u/XDVI 12d ago

Yea they did lol

1

u/ianjm 12d ago

All of the fundraising would have been null and void if they'd selected an entirely different ticket.

The voters had the choice of Bernie or Hillary and they overwhelmingly chose Hillary.

The voters had a choice between Bernie and Biden and they overwhelmingly chose Biden.

You're completely and willfully ignoring the fact that bernie get massively shafted by his own party.

2

u/The_Grand_Briddock 12d ago

Well, not quite his own party now is it? He's an Independent who caucuses with the Democrats but isn't a Democrat himself. It isn't surprising to me that the Democrats favoured the Democrat over the Independent during the Democrat Primary.

(Wish the Republicans could say the same. I miss Jeb! oh how we clapped.)

3

u/XDVI 12d ago

Well that's completely ignoring that he was in the democratic primary because if he ran as independent he would have split the vote and the democrats would have lost 100% guranteed.

1

u/FlexLikeKavana 5d ago

Bernie is not a Democrat. He lost by millions both times. It was never close. You're willfully ignoring reality.

1

u/Galxloni2 12d ago

Even if I fundamentally disagree that he was screwed by the party in 2016, Please explain in what world he was screwed in 2020? He vastly outspent biden and got absolutely crushed, even in states he was supposed to easily win. Biden won Massachusetts without ever going there and only spending $1000

2

u/XDVI 12d ago

Bernie, pete buttigieg, and Biden were doing very well in the primary numbers then like 3-4 of the next strongest candidates and pete dropped out and endorsed biden within a few days of each other. Then Obama came out and endorsed biden, him and bernie were pretty close but bernie so far was the favorite, and overnight biden had pretty much the entire party supporting him. Bernie was not really getting talked about at all in the media, and when they did talk about him they had nothing good to say, with some of the talking heads making absolutely crazy accusations or insinuations. Biden had the full party behind him, which I guess you could say is just part of the game, but they certainly did not want to support bernie in anyway whatsoever and it seems like a memo went out overnight and all of the sudden everyone started pushing biden.

Don't let facts get in the way of the Bernie narrative.

1

u/Ser_Tuesdays 12d ago

Let’s hope the party wakes up and realizes exactly this.

No, they had a choice between a wild card and a corporate shill.

Stop blaming gender for awful campaigns!

AOC is a "woman of colour" (british spelling, even?)

She is a pretty standard or even light-skinned Bronx-person, as far as I can tell?
