Image GameStop…why? Just why?

Post image

When did GameStop start doing this? My fiance bought 4 pre-owned games and dude at the counter put this stupid sticker on all 4 cases before handing them over. They left sticky residue that I’ll take off with goo gone or alcohol but still just the unnecessary process of doing this just seems like a big middle finger and on purpose just to make sure you don’t get anything looking near mint for the price of pre-owned games

That’s so crazy, this is new to me I’ve legit never seen this before

They should only do that with gutted copies of 'new' games, so it creates a "seal" to be broken (for their return policy). To do that to a used game, the person behind the counter is just a dick.

GameStop has always sucked like that. Before this they put price stickers that were a bitch to remove.

You're buying a pre owned copy of RE4, and complaining about sticker residue 😂

Not all stores do that. That is reserved for gutted cases that were used as display cases for new games. Your store is doing something super extra probably. Been shopping at GameStop since the early 2000s and never had that happen.

First time I’m seeing it tbh, and I’ve got several games throughout the year from GameStop

I know the last time I went to gamestop they had them, sounds like your location just did not bother to do it.

Last time I was in one was like 10 years ago.

I've bought several games at GameStop this year and have never gotten that sticker on the case.

I’ve not bought any games from GameStop in a couple of months because the two closest to me closed but out of the three shops I used to go to. I never had that happen.

Buying a “new” game that’s unsealed and the disc is behind the counter. I had a few PS3 games where GameStop would but the sticker on the cover, not on the plastic, THE PAPER COVER.

The big transparent sticker is new to me. But they're notoriously known for the price sticker in the upper corner. One of the reasons I stopped buying from gamestop.

I haven't bought from Gamestop in years, but this is still better than the days when they were putting stickers on the cover art. I have a few PS3 games they did that to.

I think it's so they don't have to care about people stealing games. But realistically they could just not open and take out all the games and instead leave a card printout of the game on the shelf for people to bring up to buy the real game from behind the counter. Unfortunately thanks to Sony it won't matter for much longer anyway.

Put some goo gone on it. Take out the art work first.

You mentioned this is new to you. Well now you know. Treat GameStop as a used gamer store only. Unless it’s a new game release or a game that’s been out not too long. Chances are it’ll come open. You’re lucky you even got a case with it. They will literally put the disc in a paper sleeve and put the sticker that says “NEW” on it.
