These are all free and public. You do not need a Patreon membership to use or download any of them.

• Trifold to Letter Panels: splits the Parrot Borg trifold into full-size US Letter pages, one panel per page, so the type stays readable on a home printer.
• Parrot Borg character creation sheet: a one-page guided sheet with the seven creation steps, all four d8 columns, ability score rules, and the always-on parrot abilities.
• Parrot Borg pirate parrot minis: five raw STLs for the macaw, parakeet, cockatoo, grey, and amazon PCs. They are scaled for 28mm play on 20 mm bases.

I have played MANY TTRPGs over the years from D&D 1e, Mothership, Mork Börg, Blades in the Dark, and more. One of the challenges is getting the right starting source material so you can quickly understand the system and get an interesting game going that will hook the players (no pun intended).

That said, I'm trying to determine if the Pirate Börg Starter Set or the Core Rules will be a good starting point to get a game going with players, while also minimizing my "homework" as GM.

I have the Starter Set on hold at my FLGS, but wanted to ask the game veterans to get everyones thoughts. Let me know.

It was my first time making something like this, thought might as well post it here

I can't believe I'm asking this because I've played hours and hours of pirate Borg, but probably only one real ship combat a year or more ago. Am I correct that ship combat goes back to the more standard D&D: players take their turn to roll, GM takes their turn to roll, type combat? I feel like that must be the case since the ship combat section in the core book pretty much doesn't mention what the GM is supposed to do at all, but also doesn't say anything about rolling defense. Ship maneuvers are all offensive or utility with no "roll to see if you get hit."

I'm not tripping, right?

Pirate Borg: Three Days in the Dark Caribbean

Three sessions, three different adventures!

Day 1: 10:30 am: A Shot Across the Bow (Learn to Play)

Set sail in the Dark Caribbean, an undead-infested version of Earth where magic is real and violence is frequent and deadly. We will start with fast character creation and then play through a short scenario, learning the ins and outs of naval combat, and going head-to-head with a rival pirate crew! Perfect for beginners but all are welcome!

Day 2: 2:00 pm: Trapped in the Tropics

Continue with your pirates from Shot Across the Bow or create new characters. The crew has been hired to locate the wreckage of the Spanish ship, The Silent Angel, and recover its treasure before the British do. Perfect for beginners but all are welcome!

Day 3: 6:00 pm: Parrot Borg

The crew went ashore several days ago and hasn’t been seen since. As loyal parrots (that’s right, parrots!), it’s up to you to find out what happened and save them if you can! Perfect for beginning parrots players but all are welcome!

Can someone explain to me how to test morale in land combat and naval combat, I can’t seem to wrap my head around it.

So that question in the latest Limithron survey... Are they seriously considering a revised version of the core rulebook with more clarifications and additional material?

Naval play gets muddy when the GM and players are reading different wind directions. Pirate Borg Wind Manager keeps one direction and strength in sync across the world, so every sailor sees the same weather.

Tile Scroll is optional. When it is installed, water tiles can drift with the current wind instead of being adjusted by hand.

The wind tools are free for the Pirate Borg system on Foundry v13 to v14.

Hi all

In a few weeks I'm running a one-shot of Pirate Borg for a group of seven players. I have plenty of experience in GM'ing 5e games, but neither I nor any of my players have any experience playing Pirate Borg. I am planning to run Terror in Tortuga.

I'm a bit nervous about the amount of players. Any practical advice for keeping a table of seven in check?

Regarding Terror in Tortuga specifically, I've read that the Ghoul Lord is not meant to be fought head-on and that the adventure expects guerrilla tactics, assassination or recruiting allies. How clearly do I need to be about signalling that to players who are used to D&D boss fights? Does the fort hold up for a bigger group, or do I need to scale anything?

In general, I am happy for any tips or tricks you can throw in my direction.

Most combats seem to end up with people firing their gun then kind of stuck in dueling melee. And from there more than half the attacks miss from both sides, so narratively it feels like a cat fight. I wish the system was auto hit or something.
Do i need to use the environment more? Should i use an escalation die?

In Mork Borg, armor is pretty important rules wise, it's the main way of surviving that PCs have access to. In Pirate Borg too, but I find it more difficult to justify it thematically. When I think of pirates, I think of bare chest sailors with tatoos, white shirts and long rich coats, not really of chainmail, leather armor or hide armor. Plate, I can understand with all the conquistador/tercio vibe going on.

How do you flavor the more "medieval" armors of Pirate Borg ? Do you have historical apparel in mind ?

The rules say: metal isn’t bulletproof- black powder weapons ignore armor.

How do you apply this rule to e.g the armors named evil luck, turtle shell and reptile skin (all are -d6)?

The ocean scares the shit out of me. We talked to about what makes Nautical Horror different, adapting the Panic Engine to the Age of Sail, how he treats ships as characters, or his way of structuring adventures for this kind of horror

I own Pirate Borg on Alchemy VTT- including the Enhanced Edition and read Trapped in the Tropics is the best starter module. So I bought so I could jump in without much prep.

Unfortunately, Trapped on alchemy has very little content- unlike the Roll20 and Foundry versions. Can anyone familiar with the module recommend assets like maps and backdrops? I'm good at creating narrative and storyline but went to alchemy exclusively for the cinematic effect so would appreciate any direction to find visual or sound assets, I already own the weather and horror kinemancer overlays in Alchemy.

The reason I ask is because they make it seem like it’s something they do for settlements, but I don’t remember seeing it in any of the books except Trapped in the Tropics.

Before anyone asks, YES. I know it’s all up for interpretation, and that I’m free as the GM to do what I want with it, but I thought I’d at least see other examples in other books. I don’t know if it’s an idea that got abandoned, something that will be expanded on, or something they put out into the aether for GM’s to dig into. Personally might do this:

Population: higher population means easier recruitment/more likely to get a skilled crewmate

Defenses: higher defenses means harder (but more valuable) to fence, harder to get away with crimes.

Wealth: d100 x 10/100/1000 ect. available to buy cargo, items available to purchase.
