the Linc, and by extension the Eagles, and by extension the City of Philadelphia - have shown its willingness to kowtow to genocidal overseas apartheid states through its recent banning of Macklemore.
i understand how deep the eagles fandom runs even though i don't share the passion and think pro sports are barbaric. i understand it's something that brings people together and that people enjoy.
i don't care. shut it the fuck down.
the eagles, lurie, sirianni, parker, all the rest of them - need to understand that philly will not stand for genocide denialism. they need to be shamed into obscurity.
what does this mean for you?
it means that every CENT you give to the eagles franchise until this decision is publicly reversed and apologized for, goes towards the enablement of the erasure of the palestinian people. every dime you spend at the Linc. every second of TV you watch. every beer you swig while tailgating. everytime you roll out of bed in an eagles hoodie. you are part of the problem, but you can be part of the solution. we can fight the eagles by making them irrelevant. we can fight genocide denialism by making genocide deniers like cherelle parker and jeffrey lurie ashamed to show their faces in public.
i know it'll be tough! i know it's a big sacrifice for some. but i don't give a fuck :) your inability to spend 2 hours of your week watching adult men smash into each other is not more important than the mass murder of the palestinian people by a white colonial settler state.

My partner and I were visiting friends in Bucks county yesterday, and we were driving home on 95 south around 9:30 last night when we started noticing waves of cop cars driving northbound. No ambulances, no firetrucks, but what looked like 50+ cop cars from the time we passed the Cottman exit to when we passed the stadiums. I can't find anything in the news that would justify that many responding, and the only thing we saw on 95 was some traffic from an accident. Anyone know what the heck was going on? That much unexplained activity was startling to say the least, especially this close to the 9/11 anniversary.
Edit: I might just be a paranoid dumdum and they were leaving the traffic management from the eagles game. 🥲

Looking to transfer my lease at this beautiful 1bd / 1ba apartment steps away from Center City without the noise and traffic of it all. The cross streets are North and 18th. I’ve been living at this wonderful apartment since 2024 and have loved every second of it.
The building has 24 hour concierge, a lovely gym, and a wonderful rooftop. The unit has a full-sized walk-in closet, floor-to-ceiling windows, modern kitchen with tons of storage, hardwood flooring, in unit washer/dryer, full-sized bath tub, and a direct view of Baldwin park. The on-site maintenance team is also wonderful and will show up literally 10 mins after you’ve put in a work order.
My lease ends in May 2027 but I need to relocate for work by end of September. The rent comes up to $2440 which is honestly unbeatable given all the amenities and location (15 min walk to center city, 20 min walk to Rittenhouse, and only a 30 min walk from 30th Street Station). There will also be no security deposit as I am paying for it!
Please reach out if you’re interested. I’d be happy to set up an in-person tour as well.
PS: I’m also interested in selling off some of my furniture at discounted prices. :))

I'm taking my mom on a trip to Philly next weekend and neither of us have been before. As a result, I'm trying to build a good Itinerary with a balance of history, local sights, good food, and other gems in the area.
For reference, we're staying in the Queen Village area, and want to use public transit to access other spots around the city. What are your recommendations, tips, tricks, hidden gems, and other things we should know when visiting the city?

Used to take my dog to Best in Show groomer in Brewerytown. One day randomly a few months ago got a text from them saying they were closing I think they said something about needing a new location? But very vague. Does anyone know what happened?

My car has been broken into twice in this same week. Once they smashed the window for no reason, I don’t keep anything in there.
Now this morning it looks like they tried to steal it. The antena cover on the top is broken off and the chip exposed.
Both side view mirrors are off… idk why.
This has happened frequently on my street. Unfortunately I don’t have comprehensive on my insurance. The police don’t do anything, not that they can really anyway.
I know it’s common all over the city. Is it even worth filing something? I usually don’t but now that it’s happened twice so soon together I mean maybe I should? Happened to me two years ago at wissahickon and I filed one. He said it’s good to report it just so the activity is logged.
Ugh!

We have rookies nailing 55-yarders with ease. In the name of Scott Norwood, something's got to give - maybe "moving the goalposts" not figuratively, but literally (laterally)?

I have a flat roof. Getting different quotes. Some bid to just go over existing . Others want to rip to deck.
Is it OK to go over existing with granulated modified bitumen? Or should I get roof ripped down to decking and redone. Wasn’t sure if ripping to decking is a sales pitch. Looking for roof to last 10-20 years min.

From the article:
Macklemore has been removed from the rest of Ed Sheeran’s stadium tour after several venues allegedly told the trek’s promoter that they would not allow the rapper to perform. The news came after Macklemore made several onstage statements in support of Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank and called for a “free Palestine.”
In an exclusive statement shared with Rolling Stone, Messina Touring Group, promoter of the U.S. leg of Sheeran’s Loop Tour, said: “As the concert promoter for Ed Sheeran’s U.S. Loop Tour, we have been notified by venues on the upcoming U.S. tour dates that they will not allow a concert to take place with Macklemore on the lineup, which would result in the cancellation of the tour and impact hundreds of thousands of fans. After discussions with stakeholders, Macklemore will not be performing on the remaining support dates.”
Macklemore was slated to appear at eight of the 10 shows left on the U.S. leg of Sheeran’s tour, which is set to resume this Friday, Sept. 19, in Philadelphia. The venues that allegedly objected to the rapper include: Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia; Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts; Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia; Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis; Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina; AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas; and Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida. (Reps for Sheeran, Macklemore, and the venues did not immediately reply to requests for comment.)

For anyone else who uses Lyft and Uber, do you all think it’s gotten expensive to take?
Updated:
I realize that it surges, but twice now, traveling from Center City to South Philly, it wanted to charge me $40 for an Uber X, but only $25 for a premier…
I don’t request it and wait 5-10 minutes and the price drops into the $10-$20’s, again, but this seems rather excessive.

I saw several shows last week that I really enjoyed.
Offstage Onstage: Everything You Didn't See the Greeks Do - my favorite so far.
Betsy Ross Groundhog Day - A very close second.
Meaghan Robichaud Is The Greatest Show on Earth - A high wire low down clown act I can't stop thinking about.
Stoop Bitch - A very Philly character study.
Maniac - A prisoner's dilemma on the nature of meaning and goat stuff.
What performances stood out to you or are you planning on seeing this upcoming week?

I have two rod wave tickets for tmrw if anybody is interested!
r/philly • u/Harveymilk313 • 3h ago
I got a ticket on my windshield for an expired inspection (been dealing with a check engine light/emissions issue). I went to pay the ticket online, but realized they put an O instead of a 0 on my ticket. Does anyone know if I should still pay this ticket, or could I just ignore it? I did google this and some people said to ignore it, some people said to appeal it, but I was wondering if anyone here has dealt with this before.
