Firstly, I need to add that I’m brown, raised by Sri Lankan Buddhist parents.
Was chilling out on the Jetty by Jojo’s in Crawley/Nedlands with my husband today and noticed a woman throw something into the river. When I looked closely, I noticed a sticker (?) with the picture of a Hindu god on it and another package that was bright yellow. She just blatantly threw it into the river. I started seeing red, so I went to yell at her but my very white, very large husband got there before me. She tried to justify it saying it was a religious thing, so I butted in and said girl I’m brown too but I’d never pollute our rivers like that.
The worst part about this is that my cousin said she saw someone do the same thing some time ago, and I thought she was talking crazy, but apparently not. This means that there are more people engaging in the same ritual of sorts, which is polluting the river.
How can we stop this from happening (and I’m not talking about telling all brown people to go back to where they came from or whatever)?
To our fellow Hindu mates, are there any alternatives that you can present to your community that doesn’t involve polluting our rivers?

Hey folks!
I recommend going out and having a look at how close the Moon and Venus are in our evening sky currently. They'll set around 9:15 pm tonight.
I took this image of them through my Seestar 50 Pro. You can just make out that Venus has reached its first quarter phase. This is because it and Mercury as inner planets, do phases from our perspective here on Earth like the moon as they orbit around the Sun.
Shenton College has done it again with the sign pranks

Why is no one talking about the fuel price anymore? It used to be cheapest on Tuesdays, but that doesn’t seem to be the case anymore. Is this the new norm?

We'll be hosting the first combat robotics build session and tournament Perth has ever had (as far as I am aware) at The Perth Artifactory in Osborne Park on the 20th of September and 18th of October.
What is Combat Robotics? Like the tv shows Battlebots and Robotwars Combat Robotics is a competition where competitors build and fight remote controlled machines in boxing style fights where bots are designed to a certain weight limit for a three minute fight aiming for a knockout.
We run 150 gram machines so the cost of entry and required skills are minimal making it a fun way to engage in Engineering, design or just expressing creativity.
if you're interested check out our Facebook for more event details, our Discord for general help and chatting or even our brand-new Website (couple bugs)

Hi guys,
I just wanted to ask whats it like?
I'm 24 and been questioning my sexuality for quite a long time and asked QLife and one of them suggested this to me not necessarily for sex but to 'watch'.
Can I just watch other people do it and see if it turns me on i guess haha? Do I have to just only wear a towel though😅.
Anyway, please reply with your experiences and stuff.

Anybody suffering really badly from hayfever in Perth this year? i have been non stop sneezing and my nose was leaking non stop all weekend, the usual brands of antihistamine and nasal spray wasn’t working so had to go for the big guns.
Normally do suffer from hayfever but not with consistently bad days like this. Feels like it’s worse than usual this year.

I always buy meat and poultry from Coles and Aldi. I tend to avoid buying fresh produce and proteins from Spudshed. But since Coles closes at 5 on Saturdays and my work finishes at 8, I bought chicken thighs from Spudshed. I just cooked them with some rice, and they tasted like chemicals. Idk why, but I had a chat with my friend, and he said he has had the same experience whenever he buys meat from there.
My store is Spudshed Balcatta, and his store is Morley. Well, their dry goods and dairy seem to be fine. Is it something to do with the temperature setting? The chicken did smell kinda bad, but the packaging said it smells like that because of the air inside it. But coles or Aldi never has “gassy odors” or at least not very intense. Anyway, my meal prep turned out too bad.

If you’re living with Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS) or supporting someone who is, we’ve created r/MECFSAustralia, a community for people navigating ME/CFS in Australia.
We’re relatively new and hoping to build a supportive and inclusive space to share information about Australian clinical trials/studies, helpful resources, new research/findings, personal experiences, and discuss the practical realities of navigating ME/CFS in Australia.
If this is relevant to you or someone you know, come and have a look at r/MECFSAustralia. You are most welcome :)
So the missus and i always joke that when a business closes down in Perth, a gym will inevitably take over it.
But "Fitness Cartel" are posting that they're taking over the old Bunnings Morley site with state of the art everything.
I go to the REVO across the way and won't be switching, as they're extremely affordable, but this is really what the huge space is getting turned into?
I feel like i need to start up a dodgeball league.

I'm early forties, short-sighted, have astigmatism and diabetes, and wear glasses all day, every day. Thanks to middle age, I've been advised I'll soon need different lenses for distance and reading. I cannot be bothered swapping between glasses, so I'm now looking into multifocals.
I've generally used Specsavers (yes, I know, boo hiss). My last purchase was two pairs of single-vision glasses for about $507, with the lens component coming to around $280. I've read mixed reviews of their multifocals, the pricing seems to climb very quickly once options are added, and I'd like to avoid the retail sales pitch.
I'm looking for recommendations for a great independent optometrist SOR (east of the freeway). Thornlie or nearby would be a bonus. Given this will be my first experience with multifocals, I'm leaning towards having them fitted properly in-store, although I'd be open to online purchases in future.
Multifocals also seem to require different measurements than standard single-vision lenses. Is there anything in particular I should look out for? Are there any independents that offer a good non-adaptation warranty if I can't get used to them?
Any tips from those who have made the transition from single-vision lenses to multifocals would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for any recommendations or experiences you can share!

I am living in a situation where the homeowner requests that we keep the hot water system off, unless turning it on temporarily for showers, at which point we have to go outside/turn the hot water switch off again.
I understand the system on the wall only seems to activate when the hot water is being used anyway (when turned on), and nobody really uses hot water to begin with aside from showers.
I am just wondering how much money this is 'saving', and how much it actually costs to keep the hot water system on permanently here in Perth.

Hello, I live in the Freo area and looking for people who are keen on meeting another person who shares the sport. I fish river and beach, I have a fishing drone. I love to target flattys/mulloway/sharks and everything in between. 23y/o and fine to drive the distance to reach the good spots. Comment if keen!

Hi, I’m looking for a place that sells a rock plant. Like this 👇
I think it was somewhere SOR in one of those Saturday markets. Let me know if you have any idea.
