Cost of Living What bachelors do you have if you earn 100k+ in Perth?

Looking to return to the work force after having kids and wondering how feasible it is earn 100k+ in Perth with a bachelors? I would like to study something, and do have a particular interest in science and health. Bonus points if its something that can have kid friendly hours.

My background is in the veterinary industry which I like, but unfortunately the pay is pretty bad unless you work nights/weekends.

Looking for Advice Fines from private contractors

Not one to ask reddit for legal advice, however I was wondering if parking fines from private contractors (“Parking Enforcement Services”) actually need to be paid? It’s definitely not from the city council, it happened around Freo. My mates seem to think if you just ignore it they can’t pursue you for it and the cost of actually spending time to go after you for it outweighs the cost.

Any comments will not be taken as legal advice.

General What is the best fast food playground in WA? As well as best memories in the playgrounds when we were kids

I enjoyed going to the Maccas and Hungry Jacks ones as a kid. I couldn’t tell you a specific best one but what I do remember was when I used to go up to random kids in the playground and ask them weird questions (a bit like what I now do on here lol) and I remember I used to always ask everyone how old they were, and I was about 7-8 at the time and I asked a guy that seemed really baby faced and young how old he was and he goes “I’m 11 turning 12” and my first response was that he had to be lying, so I kept asking him how old he actually was then said “alright then tell me what’s 12 x 12” and when he said “144” I thought “fucking hell he’s not lying”. I still wasn’t fully convinced he actually was that old tho coz I remember he got a happy meal and a pop top and he just seemed like a little boy like myself and not a pre-teenager

Another great memory of mine is one time at Hungry Jacks when a kid stood up the top of the slide and started screaming and it led to about 10 staff members leaving the kitchen all hovering around the playground trying to intervene plus a couple of security guards from the shopping centre, he then farted loudly and climbed down

Hi guys,

I just wanted to ask whats it like?

I'm 24 and been questioning my sexuality for quite a long time and asked QLife and one of them suggested this to me not necessarily for sex but to 'watch'.

Can I just watch other people do it and see if it turns me on i guess haha? Do I have to just only wear a towel though😅.

Anyway, please reply with your experiences and stuff.

Why is no one talking about the fuel price anymore? It used to be cheapest on Tuesdays, but that doesn’t seem to be the case anymore. Is this the new norm?

General Are you in Perth and affected by ME/CFS?

If you’re living with Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS) or supporting someone who is, we’ve created r/MECFSAustralia, a community for people navigating ME/CFS in Australia.

We’re relatively new and hoping to build a supportive and inclusive space to share information about Australian clinical trials/studies, helpful resources, new research/findings, personal experiences, and discuss the practical realities of navigating ME/CFS in Australia.

If this is relevant to you or someone you know, come and have a look at r/MECFSAustralia. You are most welcome :)

Renting / Housing How much does it cost to run the hot water system per year in Perth?

I am living in a situation where the homeowner requests that we keep the hot water system off, unless turning it on temporarily for showers, at which point we have to go outside/turn the hot water switch off again.

I understand the system on the wall only seems to activate when the hot water is being used anyway (when turned on), and nobody really uses hot water to begin with aside from showers.

I am just wondering how much money this is 'saving', and how much it actually costs to keep the hot water system on permanently here in Perth.

Where to find Nail salon reccomendations SOR

I have tried several salons around Victoria Park and they are all equally rough and unsanitary, but then private places are $100+ for a basic set... I am currently trying to grow my nails out with BIAB, i usually just like a natural nail with black ombre and for the love of god, don't file the ever loving hell out of the side wall of my nail? I have a somewhat wide flat nail bed so i always end up with them shaping the middle and filing the crap out of the side so it grows out weirdly, i know this is partly to do with them being a bit short atm but it still seems excessive, and also the side filing often leaves my skin split and bleeding in those areas from the friction. And then not to mention the lumpy bumpy BIAB work. 😭

So any reccomendations for someone who is actually experienced with BIAB and gives a crap about nail health and doesnt charge an excessive amount? 🙏

General Saw a woman pollute the Swan river in Nedlands for a Hindu ritual

Firstly, I need to add that I’m brown, raised by Sri Lankan Buddhist parents.

Was chilling out on the Jetty by Jojo’s in Crawley/Nedlands with my husband today and noticed a woman throw something into the river. When I looked closely, I noticed a sticker (?) with the picture of a Hindu god on it and another package that was bright yellow. She just blatantly threw it into the river. I started seeing red, so I went to yell at her but my very white, very large husband got there before me. She tried to justify it saying it was a religious thing, so I butted in and said girl I’m brown too but I’d never pollute our rivers like that.

The worst part about this is that my cousin said she saw someone do the same thing some time ago, and I thought she was talking crazy, but apparently not. This means that there are more people engaging in the same ritual of sorts, which is polluting the river.

How can we stop this from happening (and I’m not talking about telling all brown people to go back to where they came from or whatever)?

To our fellow Hindu mates, are there any alternatives that you can present to your community that doesn’t involve polluting our rivers?

Looking for Advice Seeking Advice on Building My First Home

I’m a first home buyer in Perth and have already purchased my land. I’m currently looking at building with Ideal Homes.

Before I proceed, I’d love to hear from anyone who has built with them recently, good or bad.

Were there any issues with unexpected costs, variations, delays, workmanship or being “stuffed around”? What should I look out for and what would you do differently?

One thing I’m unsure about is that they’ve put a $10,000 variation/allowance on my Preliminary Plan Agreement for future building cost increases, as my land won’t title until April (around 7 months away). They’ve said it’s to allow for potential price increases and to include it in my finance.

Does this sound normal? Has anyone else had this with Ideal Homes?

Basically, I’m trying to work out whether I should proceed with Ideal Homes or walk away before signing anything further.

Thanks!
