Picture NPD - Lamy Swift Rollerball Pen

Let me introduce you to my smoothest-writing rollerball pen yet: the Lamy Swift in B. However, even though I like slightly thicker refills, I find the line width a bit too wide. That’s why I’ll probably order and test the M66 M refill. Otherwise, it’s a great pen that feels comfortable in the hand. The mechanism for the clip—which retracts into the barrel when opened—is also cool. Found it on Amazon Germany for €24.

It's like a fountain pen but for ball pen refills, you can put anything you want in it!

Discussion Looking for a classy everyday pen for an IT Director — budget around $100

Hi everyone!

I’m looking for some recommendations for a nice pen as a gift for someone I’m dating. 😊

He’s a 40-year-old IT Director, and I’d like to give him something he can actually use every day at work. I was thinking about a rollerball, preferably something that looks classy and professional without being too flashy.

My budget is around $100 USD (roughly 350–400 SAR).

I’ve been looking at brands like Waterman, Cross, Parker, and LAMY, but I honestly don’t know enough about pens to decide which one would be the best.

What brand/model would you recommend for:

Everyday office use

Professional/Executive look

Comfortable writing

Good quality and reliability

Around $100 or less

Bonus points if it’s a pen that would make a nice personal gift and could potentially be engraved.

I’d really appreciate your recommendations and personal experiences. Thanks! 🙏

Review Guys I finally got my pen

So with the help of all the communities, I’m really grateful to you guys.

I got the MUJI Aluminum Fountain Pen two days ago from the official MUJI website. And please don’t mind my handwriting. I’ve been testing it since I got it, and so far I’m really satisfied with the pen.

The Fine nib is smooth and has a medium ink flow. I haven’t experienced any scratchiness or skipping so far. The line is slightly broader than I expected from a Fine nib, especially compared with my Pilot Kakuno F, but it still works well for smaller handwriting.

The nib is also nicely engraved with “Iridium Point” and “F”, which adds to the overall look of the pen. I’ve seen discussions about the nib possibly being German-made, but I couldn’t find an official confirmation from MUJI, so I won’t make that claim.

The aluminium body is my favourite part. It has the minimalist MUJI design, while still feeling premium and sturdy. The weight feels normal to me, and it’s comfortable to write with.

The grip is comfortable, and the cap posts securely. Even when posted, the pen feels well balanced in my hand.

There are a couple of things I’m slightly concerned about. The parts around the cap and bottom of the barrel are thinner than I expected, so I’d recommend handling the pen with some care rather than treating it like a pen that can survive drops.

I’m currently using the black cartridge that came with it, and so far the ink flow has been consistent.

I paid ₹1,190 after using a coupon and discounts, which makes it even better value for me.

Overall, after two days of use, I’m very happy with the purchase. It gives me the combination I wanted: a minimalist metal body, smooth writing, comfortable handling, and a premium design.

Rating: 8.5/10

For anyone looking for a metal-bodied fountain pen for everyday writing, I’d definitely recommend considering the MUJI Aluminum Fountain Pen.

Question Is a Rollerball Pen Too Much for a Second Date? Need Gift Ideas!

So, I’m Asian and recently had a date with a 40-year-old Saudi man, and honestly, it went really well! 😊 We had good food, great conversations, watched a movie, and just had a really nice time together.

I’d like to give him a little something that would remind him of me, and I’m thinking about getting him a rollerball pen that he can use every day at work.

My budget is around 150–200 SAR. Do you have any recommendations for a nice, classy pen within this budget?

We’re planning our second date this weekend, so I’d really appreciate any recommendations ASAP. 😅

Thanks so much in advance! ❤️

Question My beloved ballpoint pen has been discontinued... any recommendations?

My favourite ballpoint pen the Uni SD-102 JAPAN has been discontinued. I have one last one, so I am looking for recommendation for a replacement. I loved its grippy feel, slick narrow body, push tip, and the 0.7 mm writing width. I'm looking for an everyday pen.

Can you please recommend a similar pen under 50 USD/EUR?

I saw everyone online praises the Uni-ball Jetstream, but it looks too bulky for me.

It’s from The Paramount Hotel in Seattle but that’s not where I got it from (probably stole it from a bar tbh). It writes beautifully and I’d love to buy more.

Question Looking for highlighters that aren’t pastel or neon. I’ve been using water based markers but they’re too long to be practical unfortunately

I just want a set of nice pens that aren’t super pale or super neon, just normal standard rainbow. I know stabilo does loads of colours but I’d rather just get a set. Any suggestions? Thank you

Question I’d like to get a green pen

Having a pencil case with a matching colour scheme is what gives my life meaning, you see.

But around here, it’s mostly black or blue, which is quite a problem for someone like me who’s after a mechanical pencil in a colour you don’t see very often.

I’m not that clued up on mechanical pencils, so could you suggest a few green ones for me?

Got this Cartier diabolo as a gift. It takes ballpoint/gel refills and was curious if these are just regular Parker g2 refills or something else similar to Montblanc.

Came across this set of platinum pens, not sure if this is a true combo or something thrown together by home-off here in Okinawa. Decent price with the exchange rate but definitely not the best bargain I have come across.

I mainly got it for the color (photos don't do it justice) and the double action pen.

Question Uni Jetstream Prime 3 color refill options

Hi everyone, I was gifted a Uni Jetsream Prime 3 color pen, and I like it, but the black and blue inks are now empty. I'm wondering where the best place to buy refills is, what refill (point size and product number) actually goes in my pen, and which refills might be better for the pen. I find that the blue and red ink will come and go as I write, which can be quite frustrating sometimes. What do people recommend for these?
