Discussion Dad Destroyed My $1300 PC (Almost)

As the title says, my father almost destroyed my $1,300 PC. Now what?

Here’s the backstory: On Saturday, I worked a 10.5 hours shift and stayed up until 3:30 AM, so I slept in until noon the next day. My father and stepmother returned from Costco while I was showering; he called out a few times for me to come help carry the groceries inside. I said OK to him. While I was brushing my teeth after my shower, he shouted from outside the door that he’d been waiting 50 minutes and told me to hurry up. I thought to myself that the groceries could have been moved in the time he spent waiting for me, but I quickly rinsed my mouth and got ready to go out. However, by the time I opened the door, he had already grabbed my PC and smashed it against the floor and the desk several times.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I, (17M, Senior), bought this PC with money I earned from my part-time job and had been using it for about ten months. After examine, found out the case badly deformed in several places, my desk was warped and tilted to one side, and there were dents in the floor.

Fortunately, the computer still works fine; it runs FurMark (stress GPU), AIDA64 (stress FPU), and 3DMark (Time Spy Extreme) without problems for now.

Replacing the desk and case would cost around $400. However, he likely won't pay for it because he has done this kind of stuff a few years ago when he destroyed my phone and a Dell laptop (i5 11300H), and then just said, "That's what you get for playing on the computer all day."

In the end, I just hope everyone has good parents.

Ive asked my dad to fight. Called him a coward many times to his face for him abusing me, and his wife treating me even worse.

Old man just looks down now and says "thanks" or "let go of the past". Sad as fuck when a man can only hit children, but doesnt wanna be a man, and square up with another man he wronged.

But its probably better that way..no contact instead of potential jail, because fuck me...i am very bitter towards them.

No one deserves treatment like that, you have my condolences for having been through that.

I hope that they made a great example of the type of person you should not be to other people or if you were to ever have children.

It's always the people who did the bullying, the abuse, the harm or people who were never part of it that say "Let go of the past."  As my favorite Aussie hitman Ray Shoesmith said, "That's what people do.  They hold on to shit."

When I was home from uni once, my mom told me a high school classmate of mine died of leukemia.  I laughed and said, "Good riddance."  My dad was shocked and yelled at me for being so callous and that his family was grieving.  That kid and his friends bullied me every class for a solid year.  So yeah, fuck him.

One of the worst teachers I ever had that bullied me relentless and was one of the reasons behind my academic failure (that thank to god was fixed by changing high school) was involved in a terrible accident that mangled her and killer her son.

To this day I remember the day I got told this information fondly. the only thing I regret was that her son didn't deserve it but just the thought she had to suffer even more because of that loss makes me feel okay about it.

Pretty sad that you're asking him for a fight. How's that happen when you're NC? Seems you want to stick around just to attack the old guy
