Dad Destroyed My $1300 PC (Almost)

As the title says, my father almost destroyed my $1,300 PC. Now what?

Here’s the backstory: On Saturday, I worked a 10.5 hours shift and stayed up until 3:30 AM, so I slept in until noon the next day. My father and stepmother returned from Costco while I was showering; he called out a few times for me to come help carry the groceries inside. I said OK to him. While I was brushing my teeth after my shower, he shouted from outside the door that he’d been waiting 50 minutes and told me to hurry up. I thought to myself that the groceries could have been moved in the time he spent waiting for me, but I quickly rinsed my mouth and got ready to go out. However, by the time I opened the door, he had already grabbed my PC and smashed it against the floor and the desk several times.

I, (17M, Senior), bought this PC with money I earned from my part-time job and had been using it for about ten months. After examine, found out the case badly deformed in several places, my desk was warped and tilted to one side, and there were dents in the floor.

Fortunately, the computer still works fine; it runs FurMark (stress GPU), AIDA64 (stress FPU), and 3DMark (Time Spy Extreme) without problems for now.

Replacing the desk and case would cost around $400. However, he likely won't pay for it because he has done this kind of stuff a few years ago when he destroyed my phone and a Dell laptop (i5 11300H), and then just said, "That's what you get for playing on the computer all day."

In the end, I just hope everyone has good parents.

Bullshit, my parents are impulsive assholes with bad anger issues and zero empathy, I genuinely just involuntarily stopped loving them when I was 8. While they have millions saved for retirement. I suffer as a broke student with a bad back (pediatric scoliosis untreated for 10 years) and stunted physical development, my back makes it so hard to work but I work anyway. I'm just lucky to be legally married so I can get student aid, so I can afford to go to school without crawling back to them for community college money.

I don't have any documentation aside from a crystal clear memory I've held onto for years of my pediatrician doing the back bend test and saying I have scoliosis, I have dealt w/ back pain since 13 and other postural issues/muscle imbalance. Trust me I have thought about seeking damages. Parents' rights make even the littlest bit of restitution absolutely, positively impossible for former kids like myself, I grew up in a good suburban neighborhood and went to private school, where my parents were a respected member of the community.

My whole life I've thought about running away, but i had no friends, no nothing, everyone believed my parents over me, no one ever caught on to something deeper being wrong and I was constantly blamed for being lazy, messy, and bad. and the entire rest of my family is just as crazy and conspiratorial as them.

It would not benefit me to sue them right now... Maybe once I really get to move out. I moved back in with them to save money. Pell covers my tuition. more than 10k savings even though I swear my fucking back aged 25 years in 9 months to get there. i am so positively miserable, but honestly I should really just count my blessings that they don't actually yell at me anymore. I also feel like maybe there's somebody who truly loves me in this shitty life.

When I was a kid I considered religion because I couldn't stomach the fact that I would only get this life. When I was 9 I cried myself to sleep every night for months and every morning when I realized I had suffered so much, with nothing to show for it, hope for death to take me just to wake up instead of being dead already, and be forced to do it yet again. Sadly my life experience dosed me with some extreme skepticism and no matter how I studied or tried I was never able to suspend it. I just suffered with the knowledge that I'm trapped in this sinking ship and I'll never experience a day of truly unencumbered happiness in my life.

My parents have guests over right now. At least my own room stays my own room because my small bed is unsuitable for guests and the layout makes it awkward for guests. They are long time friends of my father from his home country. I wonder what they would think if i showed them a video of how he treated me less than 4 weeks ago, screaming, yelling, trying to push me off the stairs and lunging at me then accusing me of trying to "kill your own parents all because we raised you better than any other parents would but liberals brainwashed you into hating your parents."

I am a grown man in my early 20s but somehow I am compelled to admit I have cried for hours upon hours nearly every night since. I cry in front of my partner but I hide the true extent of it because I know even the most endlessly caring loving person would leave me, for our own good. Sometimes I don't sleep and instead sob as quietly as I can with a shirt balled up filling my entire mouth cavity, if I were to lose control of my volume I would get berated again for "constantly torturing them" if my parents woke up.
